He had ALOT of content after sobriety and relearning to rap, that process took him through 2 Relapse albums, many other unreleased tracks onto Recovery. He felt he was no longer in the headspace for Relapse to finish it, he wanted to explore want he was discovering with Recovery. Em said he saw the styles changing in his writing process and didn't wanna go backwards.

2022-03-07 20:07:27 +0000 UTCI think a part of Relapse 2 eventually became Refill. He originally planned to drop Relapse and Relapse 2 after each other. Think they were recorded back 2 back actually, but in the meantime he found new ways of producing, rapping and all that and said it didn’t feel right to go back to his Relapse sound and that’s when we got Recovery, which obviously sounds completely different.
