To echo Mohammad, there's no denying the impact he's had in spreading Hip Hop and bringing in new audience. That's never been questioned. I don't consider impact to be the same as influence.

2023-02-14 03:40:20 +0000 UTCThe US doesn't realise AT ALL how much Eminem single handedly made hip hop household they literally have NO IDEA. back then it was pop and rock, Eminem literally infiltrated the entire radio world wide and those that don't live in the US don't understand he was the biggest name in music PERIOD. There is and was no bigger name when it comes to household worldwide than Eminem simple as that.

Kendric, cole, nicki, tyler,… too many. Also he revolutionized music videos in hip hop by being able to have genres from comedy to horror

I'm from Poland to be honest before Em we only get glimpse of hip hop, Pac And Biggy were played if I remember correctly but after Em it was start for Polish rap mainstream, btw I don't say it was good tho.

2023-02-11 20:17:50 +0000 UTCI know what you mean. We can only have our own experiences. I grew up in east Africa and east Asia. Early 2000s EM and 50 were our introduction to hip hop culturally. It affected how everyone dresses and acted. You can see by how much the music was consumed over there too.

Not sure if this was a direct response to my question but, this doesn't answer it. Reiterating the statement and asking me to look at artist influenced be him doesn't sufficiently answer it. But to respond to your request (stateside) and I see less than 10 that I can directly say "they probably got the from Em". Most of which Em mentions in The Fall.

2023-02-11 18:29:47 +0000 UTCThe question I posted on YT about this is this... what is something that is done in Hip Hop music or hip hop lifestyle / culture that you can directly attribute to Eminem? I love Eminem and I think he's underappreciated but he doesn't exactly move the needle one way or the other. Influence causes change in direct response to something. 90s rappers made timberland the shoe to wear. Dip Set made Basketball jerseys cool and Cam had dudes rockin' pink. 2000's brought in grills and AF1s and Dunks, E-40 had people saying "yaddamean", everyone wanting Dre Beats, chopped and screwed and krunk had it's moment, etc... That's influence on a culture. I don't recall a time when Hip Hop looked or sounded like Em. He's an anomaly that doesn't fit in or set trends but he's wildly successful. No doubt he's expanded the audience and he's got numbers nobody can touch but let's not misconstrue popularity with influence.
