All My Art Stolen
Added 2022-11-15 03:57:02 +0000 UTCHi all! I just discovered that almost my entire Patreon catalogue has been pirated and put up for free online. This clearly happened a while ago, as my recent posts aren't affected.
I don't mind and here's why: All the leaked content was either early access i.e. has at this point been released for free anyway, or was NSFW and not permitted on DeviantArt in the first place. People going out of their way to access it via piracy probably don't actively follow me for that reason. Essentially it isn't taking away any value from you, my actual legitimate Patrons. You're still getting more than anyone else.
However, with that said, going forward I want to be in control of where my content ends up. To that end, I have two options: shift everything off of Patreon onto a different, harder to pirate service such as DeviantArt Subscriptions or find new ways to deliver content to you that's harder to pirate (i.e. link a fileshare service with all the content and DM passwords monthly or retitle my posts so they're harder to search, or something similar).
In essence, this is an annoyance more than an actual problem for me. I could just ignore it and it'll go away into its own lonely corner of the internet. I'm kinda flattered someone thought my content was good enough to steal. But I do think it's worth telling you all about.
To recap: my old work got pirated. Things may change slightly going forward to protect my future work.

Piracy is dumb. I think you are taking it surprisingly well though! Will be interested to see what you upload. Have you considered giving us access to your stash? I know other deviant art creaters who share that.
