Here it is ! First devlog for the gain jam game.
First of all, the theme for this year is Unexpected Outcome. The gain-jam will end Friday 30th August, 12 noon PDT (UTC-7). Official post on WeightGaming forum.
• Certainly not an easy theme, but I tried my best to come up with a game idea that integrates the theme to the core of its gameplay. The first version of the design doc is available for download, and the art of the cute cat alchemist is by JacoTomo ! (her final design will come soon).
Be aware that because of the theme and the nature of the game, I censored a few elements in the design doc to avoid spoiling and keep some of the fun for the release (part of the game is to find out how to make potions and what ingredients to use).
• The first version of the game mockup is attached to this post. It shows the 3 main screens of the game, and the main elements that will be needed so far. It's still very WIP so some stuff will probably be scraped (like the water tool).
If there is enough time, some screens may be added to the game. For instance : a cellar where you can buy ingredients to restock, a main entrance, and maybe even an overworld section (top down RPG style, although we probably wont have time to add it before the jam ends).

Specifically for the final name of the game. But also for general ideas, mechanics or systems that could fit the theme, possible ingredients.... And for plot/narration as well ! So if you want to, feel free to share ideas in comments or directly on discord, I'm available to chat about it most of the time.
I'll get to implement the first WIP sprites and placeholders as soon as possible to have a functionnal prototype. Thanks for your support !
