A huge hint is Goku using Kioken in the movies tree of might & lord slug, before Goku comes back to face Nappa is the first time we see it & at this point Nappa has already killed Piccolo. The next time Piccolo & Goku are on Earth together Goku knows Super Saiyan.

2025-08-10 15:59:01 +0000 UTCJust ignore the Dende part at the start, this is another reason why the movies are hugely not lined up cannon. For example in a lot of the films they are set before Namek but Piccolo & Goku shouldn't be alive at the same time.
