EDIT3: My god, this is just..dangerous... There is no upper limit to the detail you can add...
How do you feel about Inquisitor Motoko?
EDIT2: all right! I it's a bit too clean but I like it! I have no idea how to render it tho =X Color is pretty important in 40k art and switching to heavy contrast doesn't quite achieve what I want, research goes on =>
EDIT1: Fleshed things out! it's very interesting to try and lift elements from japanese sci fi design tropes and totally bombastic warhammer flair.
I didn't set myself up for an easy ride as Ghost in the Shell is pretty much one of the staples of japanese "gritty elegance" from the nineties, but I think there are aspects that can be brought together and enhanced. I don't know if it will translate, but my angle was to take Motoko's rather soft frame and rather than slap layers of armor (well, I did do a bit of that but I intend to tone it down) on it, I'm keeping her somewhat vanilla (compared to warhammer standards!) but encasing her body in a kind of enveloping...shell...of inquisitorial clutter, tied together by a weird cloak derived from her old school leather jacket.
Lore wise, and I'm sorry if it's too obscure, I'll explain better when it's done, but she'd be an Ordo Machinum agent, suitably tasked with monitoring mechanicus forays into xeno technology and similarly sus shit =)
She'd be extremely comfortable with machines and able to communicate efficiently with forgeworld weirdos, while ironically being the most vanilla human wherever she is. She still walks around with advanced integrated cogitators and I'm trying to flesh out an alternative to the servo skull that hovers around her and is connected to her body, in the form of a segment of spine with what I imagine to be a small portion of a brain still attached to it, contained in a metal ball.
I don't know what it's for, but I am design man and it is grim and dark.
[Initial post]
am srs design man.
Looks more cyberpunk at that stage, gotta learn the art of baroque camp as I go along =)
