😃Grinning.

I feel like Marianne's optimism is findamental to her character, but she could shift another way as the conflict becomes fundamentally different from anything that has come before it. While leading the troops in 1914 she fits the mood, but how could she keep that up with the ordeal to come? That would probably be the pivot for her arc (no I don't have one planned!) and another difference compared to Britannia, who is less invested at a fundamental level.

BuruStandin

I have not!

BuruStandin

there can be, but no plans!

BuruStandin

Few can follow her when she starts excavating (especially with those hulking bodies) so she spends most of her time alone. She's an extrovert when she emerges though!

BuruStandin

Yes! Infinite is overrated! 2 has the best gameplay!

BuruStandin

It's not a genre I seek out but there have been a few I have enjoyed. Haven't gotten to those two though!

BuruStandin

Ambition and a sufficient budget, I believe. looking at Capcom or SnK's efforts in the games themselves regarding narration and animation quality, they clearly don't care all that much, relying on the proven legacy designs and visual ingame appeal of the protagonists to do the work. They would need to pick a studio specialised in action and cultivating strong visual identity, and trust them to deliver something with a looser grip on mandatory character featurings and story elements, because the stories in these games are just horrible =)

BuruStandin

Beyond ye olde XKCD and the likes, no!

BuruStandin

Marianne emerged as an allegory of the French Republic in direct opposition to the toppled monarchic order, so I figure she'd have pretty strong opinions!

BuruStandin

Not from North America, so it's pretty much out of reach! my involvement with fighting games isn't strong enough to justify it these days. For a long while the city I live in had the biggest annual FG tournament in Europe but sadly the whole event has shifted towards becoming a rather boring generalist VG festival.

BuruStandin

Marianne as an allegory appeared with the revolution so she really is a late XVIIIth century figure. The XIXth was quite chaotic with Napoleons swinging in and out, a short lived restoration of the monarchy and a lot of turmoil, so I wouldn't say she gained that solid of a footing either. She looks like an anime "older woman" because she has a strong legacy but there is still something youthful about the France she fights for. Britannia is part of a much more ancient continuum in Great Britain's history, as there was never a radical challenge to the established monarchy after the XVIIthC, she is therefore a bit of a GMILF!

BuruStandin

I like MK for what it is, very campy and reminescent of the 90s era. I was skeptical back before 9 as to the outcome of a mordern approach, but I have to say it has mostly been very good, they haven't killed the inherent sillyness of the franchise but they also understood that the setting has to take itself seriously for things to work. I haven't looked at the latest iteration but it seems they are digging deeper into the series' roots, which is good if they don't rely entirely on nostalgia. I also admire the ability of every MK game to jump around the timeline and redesign/cut/add characters to keep things fresh, I would like other fighting games to be a bit more bold in that regard =)

BuruStandin

I'm a big fan of street fighter so the latest iteration has given me plenty to enjoy in terms of new and reinvented character designs, not that everything is without reproach but I admire the approach. Otherwise I love Chainsaw man and the awkwardness of the protagonists, and Dorohedoro in both Manga and Anime form (would highly recommend trying both) always motivates me. There is a broad spectrum of things I find inspiring in media and I take pleasure in discussing and examining what makes for a good design, though I should really transition towards applying it =)

BuruStandin

Their designs generally ties them pretty closely to the culture, symbols or figures they emanate from so they are subservient in that way, but they are not commanded by the countries themselves. Keeping in mind the setting is not intended to be concerned with geopolitics =)

BuruStandin

I think so!

BuruStandin

Definitely my menagerie of neglected Great War OCs! Although it's more about harnessing some creative energy rather than finding time, I've been struggling with that these last few years'

BuruStandin

No and not really, I've been to Annecy and it's a very charming city but it's a bit out of the way considering I live in the North West of France :) Also not really into large scale events and with age it becomes tough to find people who can free up some time for group outings.

BuruStandin

It really depends on what you want to convey, you gotta manage the suspension of disbelief though there is more leeway than we might expect. Barbarian from Dragon's Crown is perfectly at home within the tone of the series and the designs of other characters, internal consistency!

BuruStandin

Did you ever read/hear about the webcomic Kill Six Billion Demons?

BNik92 .

What kind of things would make Marianne angry or does she never get angry?

Darius

Can there be a futa GWW?

Darius

I've seen a few eps back when the series was featured on a French Channel in the early 2000's, enjoyed it then, but I don't think I cought the whole run'

BuruStandin

Still no =X

BuruStandin

I have seen Akira, but having read the manga (which I love) prior the movie felt a bit rushed and compressed. That aspect of it didn't hit, but it's certainly visually fantastic.

BuruStandin

Nope! Me mum tells me it's pretty good, but I guarantee the overwhelming majority of my generation has never tried'

BuruStandin

Would Flash Cotton work alongside anyone or does she do her own thing alone?

Darius

Sometimes it's a matter of taste, but mostly it's about balance and repeats, I like to give characters a chance in a coherent lineup rather than have them be crushed by more popular participants =s I do go back to previous consultations quite often to setup new polls, so it's never useless to suggest! I have to admit I also have a somewhat warped perception of time and I'm overly weary of going back to characters I've already featured or drawn, when I'm pretty sure nobody really cares =)

BuruStandin

Passionfruit Sorbet (without chunks) coupled with coffee: sublime.

BuruStandin

Seen the first one, it was great! Don't go to the movies no more so I'll eventually have to subscribe to something to see the sequels'

BuruStandin

An interesting question => I count anatomy as a tool and not an end, in that while I might try to convey volume and form with tones or weighted lines, sometimes just abstracting shapes can be a good choice. In the Dorothy example on her right arm isolating a triceps head and keeping the lower border clear gave a sense of weight and power while not "hardening" the shapes too much. On her left arm the abstract lines show overlap and foreshortening. Typically you would see that in sketches and it would later be rendered more smoothly, but I tend to struggle replacing these lines with something I like more, so I might choose to just keep them and make them flowy and nice => Hope it helps!

BuruStandin

Well, You named Nobara and Noi (several of them) which brought me the most visibility, I do like them! However I think my favorite pic is my recent Commissar Makina bit, I really had to think about the composition on this one, commited pretty hard to those choices and I like how they turned out :) In the same vein the Inquisitor Motoko one from a while back was quite satisfactory! That doesn't mean I don't enjoy my usual work those were just more challenging => On the whole I'm quite proud of my GWW work, mostly the DANJOU short (which you can find among the persistent rewards!) as well as the S2A doujin for what they represent'

BuruStandin

Yukito Kishiro is where the aspirations started with Gunnm, getting me hooked on BW. Then Mike Mignola and an italian Artist called Sergio Toppi inspire the kind of approach I would love to develop. Of course in the specific Genre I inhabit: Great6, Motchie, BoBoBo, Maguro Teikoku among many are my pantheon!

BuruStandin
