How else would one slaughter their chickens?

BuruStandin

I know little about Baki, I'm struggling a bit with the manga, and I don't know anything about KA !

BuruStandin

Fired a bow for sports a short while, but otherwise no! I did ride in a moving ww2 tank though! (pretty sure its canon was neutralised)

BuruStandin

Her secret ability will be divulged in the form of a drawing eventually! She's a bit of a smug bitch, ever trusting in the greatness of the eternal empire she represents =)

BuruStandin

They are not generally submissive, but the nature of their interactions wil depend on to many factors that haven't been expanded upon enough.

BuruStandin

Some yes, definitely!

BuruStandin

I haven't played VII, old or new, so I wouldn't know in this case. I don't have an issue with the idea of an extensive remake that goes a different direction, but it needs to be open about it from the get go and it wil certainly have big shoes to fill.

BuruStandin

I like it as a general design but for some reason I just don't find her appealing for NSFW =O

BuruStandin

There is a trend towards de-emphasizing sexualisation of female characters, which is in itself not a problem if it works with your design philosophy and the end result is something cohesive that is interesting to look at. Issues arise when you are taking designs that exist and purging the sexualisation without doing the (indeed ddifficult) work of mantaining the identity of the works. The mortal kombat series is all about camp, and a component of that has been scantily clad 90s ninja babes. They remained true to that in X and 11 but toned it down in 12. In my opinion it worked because they stayed true to the camp and came up with legitimately good alternative designs that didn't betray the atmosphere. Problems are also brought about by the western focus on "realistic" graphics, which will often not accomodate the kind of sexualisation you had with very stylised representations. Realistic faces will ALWAYS look weird and unappealing from certain angles, with unflattering lighting, just like actual faces, hence it's easy to lift incriminating screenshots. Just like the more catastrophic issues we have had with writing in media these last few years, the problem is people thinking that they can put the pen down when they have checked the "socially responsible" boxes that get them accolades from their peers, believing this is any kind of substitute for appealing or interesting direction. The result is indigent and inexcusable BLANDNESS. just like sexualisation can be horribly bland when its the outcome of box checking, it feels western media is too enamoured with the idea of steering away its "problematic" past while not developping an interesting approach in turn.

BuruStandin

I wold have to reconcile their superhuman abilities with actual events and balance them out between one another, which unsurprisingly I haven't given much thought to!

BuruStandin

Full wavy volume early 90s with a bit of length

BuruStandin

Not all that interested in anthems beyond the historical aspect, with exceptions. I never bothered to learn our own fully and I don't believe it necessarily has to never change. However any change should be informed by consensus and complex aspects shouldn't be purged because they might seem inappropriate with a modern lens.

BuruStandin

No!

BuruStandin

I can pretty much refer you back to the Haiti question! Overall France's involvement in ex colonies should depend on said people's informed consent and engagement, but those are always dubious in unstable and corrupt states, in the end when you are leveraging power or aid as an outsider you are dealing with whoever is in power at any given time with little control over how it is employed (or more cynically you take advantage of corruption, which is a very Françafrique thing). In the inverse, plating up contempt for ex colonial overlords is often a way to acquire power locally which has been the case in Mali, Centrafirique or the IC recently. Overall it makes sense to build relationships within a linguistic sphere, but the way things work I believe a lot of that has indeed been cynical and exploitative.

BuruStandin

I live in the equivalent of a college town with a celtic flair so I'm pretty sure such a pretext or binge drinking is welcome in certain circles =) Otherwise no it's not really a thing'

BuruStandin

Indeed I'm a bit of a goody two shoes in RPG, I guess the "evil" options tend to have a more individualistic slant and my own character is generally the one I care about the least if the game is any good =O

BuruStandin

Not really, these need a whole TWO peolpe to play anyway!

BuruStandin

He looks quite cool and I understand he's really a staple character but I do hope they bring back characters that were part of the younger gens and give them a more mature version of their styles (like makoto/Ibuki/Sakura...), both visual and gameplay.

BuruStandin

they would need to be fleshed out on my side to have room for collaboration! The setting is not meant to accomodate long story arcs, like mentioned above I like contemplative stories, if I were to make non NSFW that's what I would lean towards'

BuruStandin

The wife bit is more of a matter of fact reference to them being paired with lost boys they have to protect, like in the Danjou mini, this would generally be the basis for their comic outings. Also a bit of a Meta appeal thing, can't say it's structural in the setting!

BuruStandin

Terrible name, why would you not connect it to a decade+ long ultrapopular franchise? Otherwise the game looks really cool but my fighting game days I pretty much over, I don't have time to dedicate to getting decent at them anymore. Only fear I have is that the cast might be pretty milquetoast given riot's modern design philosophy, it's OK now but the gameplay suggests more outlandishness, i'd like to see Fiddle as a Faustian weirdo.

BuruStandin

Toutatis, Belenos, cool names, otherwise I don't know nuthin about Gaul Paganism =O

BuruStandin

I don't have informed thoughts on the topic, but the latter parts seem accurate, the threshold for what is considered 'too much makeup" in France is much lower than it is in the US or the UK and effortless beauty is the ideal, same thing for clothing, while nudity itself is not an issue overall, very revealing clothing is seen as lacking class. However "Small Breasts: Today, smaller breasts that can fit in a champagne glass are seen as beautiful in France" WTF is that about =| Like everything the cup size threshold for ludicrousness is lower but the small tits ideal is a high fashion thing, also really, a champagne glass?

BuruStandin

The debt in question was settled in the early XXth cetury I gathered, although it was entirely illegitimate, predatory and crippled any stable developpment the country could hope for in its infancy. I think "compensation" in the form of support should be negociated, but as with many other countries the issue isn't really the money, it's the country's ability to absorb and use funding in a way that actually addresses its problems. Instability and corruption makes aid useless and getting more involved on the ground brings about fear of neocolonialism. Hence I have no idea how to go about it!

BuruStandin

I had never heard of it but it looks interesting, will look into it, thank you!

BuruStandin

I have not read or watched it!

BuruStandin

It's been a while since I've read any manga by Toriyama, and back when I did I think I only read from DB up to the end of the Namek arc. The art was always good and the transition from goofy to more gritty was well handled, it gets difficult analysing it from memory when so much of his work is iconic.

BuruStandin

Another great character, though I liked her original more chunky design =) I don't remember anything about her lore!

BuruStandin

Phenomenal design 10/10, and she's a grappler, fuckn perfect. Her lore is appropriately silly, in line with all of KoF!

BuruStandin

Yes! I get really engrossed in contemplative stories when there is something to latch onto and the flow carries pushes you forward with the destination not being a focus. This can be done in very different ways, some of my favorite pieces of media are Hellboy and Blame, and Frieren does something similar. I do find the fantasy world and Demon king shit quite bland and boring (I hate how they travel with no supply storage beyond Frieren's admittedly quirky suitcase, it makes the world feel small), but the core concept is really unusual and hits the mark, I enjoy just walking around with these characters.

BuruStandin

Not a tekkenbro, but he's a pretty fun specimen of "French cool from a Japanese perspective" which I always enjoy. Vincent Cassel has a lot of personality as an actor and it does transpire in the execution of the design.

BuruStandin

I have not watched SG, most would agree nowardays that TT is messy, I think it works for self contaied concept stories that make it clear what you can expect, otherwise like multiverse stuff it just cheapens the setting and the stakes.

BuruStandin

No thoughts! I really don't like musicals so there's a pretty big barrier to entry there!

BuruStandin

I'm not an eager practitioner but yes, it's still very much standard =)

BuruStandin

Honestly Japanese artists tend to be braver in that department, there's always been "big/buff and attractive" popular female character out and about in manga and anime (more and more these days!) while western media doesn't really follow. I agree that I would prefer a sturdier Tifa, when it comes to mainstream series the standard attractive template remains very much on the skinny end =O

BuruStandin

No preference, they have a different vibe!

BuruStandin

In a way yes, because a lot of fantasy relies on a pretty basic set of tropes that the audience is expected to be familiar with and doesn't generally do much with them that's interesting. I don't value subversion as an automatic good but having some investment in the setting of a story is pretty important, this is hard to do when the piece of media in question doesn't add an interesting angle.

BuruStandin

These are the only prominent cases of word play translations I can think of! There is a long tradition of being playful with titles in French comics (it's a bit annoying sometimes even) and early anime in the 80s had goofy dubs that have become pretty legendary =)

BuruStandin

I don't have much of a preference but I do have medfan fatigue (classic Tolkienish/DnD takes) so in both cases they have to bring something new to the table!

BuruStandin
