Definitely affectionate but many foreigners are struck by how French parents tend to enforce etiquette in public spaces, such as limiting noise, staying put in restaurants etc. It can give an impression of coldness but I never experienced it that way.

She was famous enough at the time to make it into MvC2 but she's been phased out for two decades now =(

2024-06-03 13:29:31 +0000 UTCIt's a bit of a tight rope but I think Fei Long and Lei did develop a specific branching personality, perhaps it's a lot harder now as we don't have the same kinds of cult personalites these days, if Bruce Lee had an instagram detailing his routine the character would be quite demystified.

2024-06-03 12:36:57 +0000 UTCWhile being very succesful within its genre, SF6 to my understanding is still quite tiny when compared to other capcom franchises, we forgive them because they put out good games but they are pretty tough business wise, I doubt they see much point in investing more in that limited market. Also, they did spread a bit thin in the 2010's as an overreaction to the SF4 revival, I think they are more careful now, sadly.

There is maybe a light stigma around sticking with your parents late into your 20s, there's a 2000-ish comedy called 'Tanguy' that's still widely referenced by my generation and up to poke fun at the phenomenon, but it's not overly demeaning.

Being loud and obnoxious or fucking around in shared spaces is even worse of a social transgression here so maybe it keeps a bit of a lid on the prankster/Main character phenomenon, I haven't seen much of that at all. In fact it's kinda baffling how filming in places like gyms seems so rampant with the anglos, I'm pretty sure people my age here would assume it's not permitted by default.

I would have no problem drawing more gnarly stuff if I felt like it, but as I've settled into my practice I've been looking more and more towards what I find interesting rather than raw appeal. Doesn't mean I've lost the drive, I've just settled into a different angle on the genre!

I tend to enjoy fantasy that doesn't retcon human evolution and builds upon the natural complexity of life within the setting (which is why I'm not into deep Tolkien lore). Population dynamics are part of that complexity and there are good ways to justify any choice you make in the end, it's all gonna be up to the writing. I'm talking about original settings where this is thought about from the ground up.

2024-04-07 23:41:42 +0000 UTCI don't think they are, most fantasy settings are really western European through the perspective of Americans, you really just have to look at examples like the Witcher to see there's a lot of nuance and exoticism to be found in that sphere of influence. I'm very open to other settings of course but in popular media I don't think classic eurofantasy is spent, it's just been very narrow in its focus.
