A Promise Best Left Unkept V0.1.5 - Hangover/Passed Out (10$/15$) Tiers
Added 2021-11-20 19:06:17 +0000 UTCV0.1.5 is around 22k words long, which should be about the size you should expect for upcoming releases (V0.1.0 being the exception). This release introduces the first choice of the game, though it isn’t implemented yet. This choice is the most important one by far since it will pretty much spit the game into two different routes (Laura’s and Aya’s). But like I mentioned in the post introducing the game, we’re going to focus on Laura’s route first, which is why the choice is yet to be implemented (I have not started writing Aya’s route yet). As such, Aya will start taking the backseat a bit in the story. It doesn’t mean that she won’t have her time to shine in Laura’s route—at least one threesome ending is warranted at this point—but you will see a lot less of her perspective, as I personally think focusing on one character at a time is better story-wise. I also added Harry’s—the protagonist’s—sprite to the game. Hopefully, the change won’t be too abrupt for some people.
Also, I just want to mention this because it kinda stresses me out, but please manage your expectation, if possible. I’m a solo developer, my time is limited, and I clearly still have a lot to learn. What’s important to me is to write the best story that I can. I prioritize the story above anything else. Some people seem to be of the impression that you will be able to choose the rules, but you won’t. It’s a very good idea in theory, but impossible in practice (at least, for me). We’re only one-quarter of the way in Laura’s route with this update (50k out of 200k), and rules can impact the story in a significant way. So if you were able to choose between two rules, for example, it could potentially split the game into two. And there will be a lot of rules. I don’t have the time or the budget to write an 800k words story, unfortunately. But I digress. If people are not satisfied with this explication as to why there won’t be choices for the rules, I don’t mind making a post about it. I just wanted to make sure we’re all on the same page because it becomes very hard for me to keep writing when I know I will disappoint some people.

I made a poll two months ago precisely about whether there should be a good ending or not, and the majority was in favor of having one. For Aya's route, I still have no idea, but they don't share endings.

It was a absolutely refreshing to see along with your story telling. I feel the speculation is normal. People may "demand" things but you gotta do the story how you like it and they gotta respect it!

I’m just wondering if this level of speculation is normal, or I’m somehow misleading people with the rule system. If I am, I just don’t really know how to remedy it.

For what it's worth, you're one of few devs I've supported that for the most part is diligent with releases (even getting them out before stated dates) and upfront with us throughout. I'm also enjoying seeing the improvements along the way. Keep it up.
