Fortunately, things have calmed down from my end, so I was able to finish working on this update a bit sooner than expected. So this release is around 19k words, has one (rather long) sex scene, and four new CG sets.
I’m a bit unsure about the direction I took for this particular sex scene. It’s extremely hard to take what I write on paper and conceptualize it as a full-fledged scene sometimes (even more so when I’m not the artist). Also, we’ve reached a point in the story where it has become impossible for me to evaluate my work objectively. Anyone who knows me even a little knows that I’m the kind of person who always questions himself. With any luck, I haven’t missed the mark too much.
I’ve also tried something different for the second part of the sex scene. It’s something that I rather enjoy when I see it in other games, but once again, I’m kinda unsure that it was worth it. Might do a poll about this later to see if you guys want to see more of this.
While I’m at it, I want to talk briefly about the two new options that I added to the setting menu:
Shake during sex scenes
I use a lot of shake effects during the sex scenes and I heard a handful of people complain that it made them sick. So I added an option to enable/disable the shake effect during sex scenes. It’s enabled by default.
Rollback feature
This feature is kinda a love-hate story for me. For those who don’t know, Renpy has a feature where, with the use of the scroll wheel, you can backtrack a bit in the game (kind of like a rewind feature) instead of the usual log. The thing is, I use the camera a lot during scenes and sometimes this feature would kind of break the game. Sprites might disappear, or the camera might not be in the position that I intended it to. So usually, in every game I develop, I disable it completely just to be safe. But I always use it during the coding phase. And I always have to think of disabling it before building the app (which is kind of a pain). So I finally ended up deciding that the player should be the one to choose if he wants to run that risk. The option to disable/enable the rollback feature is now in the setting menu. It is disabled by default.
