A Promise Best Left Unkept V0.4.0 - Passed Out (15$) Tier

I’m releasing V0.4.0 a bit earlier than I first intended mainly because I’m really not sure that I’m doing things properly with the new simple ‘animations’ and I would like to gather quick feedback so that, if there’s anything that needs changes, I can react as quickly as possible in order to implement/work on those changes.
This release is around 19k words long and contains five new CG sets and one (big) sex scene.
We’re starting the Normal ending. In order to reach this ending, you need to:
- Trust Laura most of the time
- Ignore Aya most of the time OR not follow her during the vote for Luca’s proposal
- Don’t understand Laura
If you prefer to have a list of the specific choices to follow in order to reach it, here you go:

Simple animations
I feel like V0.4.0 is probably one of the worst releases to change the way I handle the animations. As most of you must know, my sex scenes are usually rather long (I think). And there’s always a lot of dialogue in them. I had a really hard time featuring the new animations since the pacing of the sex scene was...hard to properly follow to the letter, let’s say. I do hope I did a good job, but since it’s a new technology and everything, it wouldn’t surprise me if I failed in one way or the other.
Not all scenes have animations. It costs money, and I feel like some (masturbation, for example) wouldn’t gain much from it. Though, depending on the response, I might change my mind. The next releases will also have those kinds of animations, so please tell me what you think. If the animations are well-liked, I might add a new goal to slowly shift the older scenes to this new format. I also added some camera movements to the animations. I think it gives a nice feel to the scenes, but again I’m mostly testing right now.
Ending List
I added a menu in the extra section where you can see the list of endings. The only ending you can select right now is the one being implemented (normal ending). It’s mainly to give you a simple/detailed description of how to reach the particular ending. As we move along in the development of the game, you will be able to select other endings. Only those implemented/being implemented will be selectable though, as to not confuse people.
Extra CGs
There will be releases where there aren’t any good spots where I can add an extra CG. When it happens, I will try to find an early part of the game where a CG might be a good fit. This release is one of them. The two extra CGs are from earlier parts of the game, though one of them is also used in a small section of this release. The other is Laura smoking in the infirmary:

I get where some folk were coming from and personally I'm always craving more from each update regardless, but I wouldn't want to see him revisiting things. There's a number of paths that we have to wait months for and I can only see revisiting things resulting in delays to those paths. There's also the interest element for the dev and surely adding a few more months to this project would affect that.

Also want to point out 2 points that greatly exceeded my excpectations this update: - I was expecting Harry's perspective to be a bit short and uneventful, cuz of the friday date, but it was absolutely brutal in the best way! :D - I was expecting the animations to maybe go from 2 to 3 frames, but he made actual smooth animation, which reminded me of ANIM games. Very positively surprised there too :D

2022-04-18 23:10:20 +0000 UTCAs people are saying i kind off agree with the raw image was a bit abrupt ^^ That being said i understand what he did as it is from her perspective, and Laura wasnt' aware either. Maybe it's because it had kind off been building up to that point. And sort of still is, as the condom rule is still active. despite that this is the first time i had to take a break between Harry's perspective and 'All Perspectives'. Was hoping for more 'Noise from the Wall' stuff and on that front i was definately not disappointed xD Very good update so far, and there is still about 3 updates for this rute? Phew my tiny heart... x)

Maybe it can be commissioned with the supplementary artist and added with the next update? Nevertheless awesome work. Love the writing. Animations were a really pleasant sight. Can’t wait for the next release.

However, there are still some questions about the plot: ————Spoiler alert—————————— When Laura surrendered and promised to cancel her date with Harry, I had assumed that there would be a long marathon sex to describe how crazy they had sex that day, but suddenly the time jumped to the moment when Luca coming inside her without a condom. Then there is a long paragraph explaining what happened during the period. That development is a little abrupt for me. Because, as Laura herself said, "Must wear a condom" is her last defense. I think it's worth taking time and using a scene to highlight such a "complete defeat" Maybe HC thinks the Narrative Pacing needs to be done in this way? After all, there have been a lot of sex scenes before and adding a marathon will make the readers even more tired? Anyway, this is still a wonderful update. Look forward to your next release.
