Steam release and Patreon page changes

Steam Release

A Promise Best Left Unkept just got approved for release on Steam, which is great news for me. For those who don't know, Steam has always been really vague when it comes to their guidelines for porn games. Most people will agree that what will get your game banned is if the ages of your characters are blurry. So if they are in high school or if their body proportions resemble those of teenagers for example.

Now you would think that this doesn't apply to APBLU since everyone is of age and it's a fairly heavy story, but I personally didn't want to take the chance. It could very well be that even if I didn't change anything, the game would have been approved, but since I only had one shot (when your game is banned, it is banned), I decided to change three things in order to put every chance on my side.

So here are the three changes. It doesn't really matter to you guys since you have the Patreon version, but I think it's worth mentioning.

1 – I changed every mention of high school to college. This might sound a bit extreme considering it's only mentions of high school, but since Maya (Harry's childhood friend) has a sexual relationship with Luca, mentioning that Harry was in high school at the time would then imply that she was a high school girl when she was having sex.

Fun fact, the first draft of APBLU had Luca bully Harry in middle school. I thought middle school was more believable as the younger you are when traumatized the more it subconsciously influences your life. I decided against it when thinking about what it would mean for Maya's character as a whole.

2 – This change is a bit more innocuous. At the very end of the clumsy ending, there is a gory scene. None of my three artists wanted to illustrate it, so I was forced to use an AI at the time. It's the only AI art used in the game. I had to remove it for Steam. So now it's only a red screen. Nothing more to it… I don't really like the AI art anyway.

3 – This change is by far the most outrageous. I kinda warmed up to it though. It's the family ending. In the family ending, Harry has a child with Laura and he stays oblivious of the fact that Laura is cheating on him. While the baby is never illustrated, never makes any sound, and isn't used as a prompt for sex or anything… it's still in the vicinity of sexual situations. So since I didn't want to take any risk, at first, I had planned to remove the family ending from the Steam version entirely. But a smart soul on Discord gave me quite a brilliant idea. He told me this: replace the child with a dog. And guys, the moment I heard that idea, I knew I had to implement it.

And so, for the Steam version, Harry's child—Trevor—has transformed into a cute chihuahua. Every mention of 'baby', 'child', or 'kid' has been changed into 'chihuahua'. Every mention of 'cradle' has been changed to 'dog bed'. What it created, my friends, is a masterpiece. Here are a few moments of the game for you to enjoy.

Seriously though, it's always sad when I have to change the content of the game, but my goal has always been to have a good library of games on Steam in order to increase my budget and elevate the quality of my games.

The game will release on Steam on October 2nd. I'm not asking you guys to buy it. In fact, you shouldn't since it's an inferior product. Patreon Page Changes

Starting next month, I'll make a few changes to the page. I just want to let everyone know what those changes entail.

On the first of October, every version of A Promise Best Left Unkept will be removed. The only one remaining will be V1.0.0, and will only be available for the 25$ tier. So please, don't forget to download V1.0.0 this month so that you don't lose access to it next month.

Another change for the 25$ tier: From October onward, the 25$ tier will have a one-day exclusivity for the releases of A Promise Best Left Unkept (Aya's route). This matches the one-day exclusivity that the tier has for NTR'd By Clumsiness.

By adding those rewards to the 25$ tier, it increases its value, and the tier doesn’t exist solely for the bonus scenes anymore. This will give me the opportunity to either take more time to write the bonus scenes or change the way the bonus scenes are generated a bit. I'm not planning on changing it all that much, but at least now I have the option to do so. I'm always stressing over bonus scenes because the tier is too focused on them. I'm happy that I'll stress less now (not).

I'm also removing the Steam key from the 15$ tier reward. It's convoluted and I don't think we need that kind of incentive anymore.

Aya's route starts next month. I know I might have confused a few people with my last post (let's talk about Aya), but I've already decided that I would write Aya's route. I'm still working on the mother NTR on the side. It just takes time to write new stories. When NTR'd By Clumsiness concludes, I'm hoping that I can instantly start the development of another small (more like medium) project. We'll see.

As for the release of V1.0.0, it should be either on the 21stor 22nd. I'll aim for the 21st.
