I just started rewatching from Season 1 and I totally thought this was something the show might have been doing but I never knew for sure. In the beginning I just thought it was just the show giving the characters an extreme personality ne why or another but as I went on it seemed to specific with her in certain ways and Ive had people with autism work for me at the arcade who are on all different levels of the spectrum so I can definitely see it. I love all the characters on the show n they do a good job of making them very different but still all work together as a group. Thanks for the input! Glad to see you in the comments 😁

I’ve been really enjoying how much you love Parker jay ( Hardison has always been my favorite but Parker is incredible) ! Im not sure if this has already been mentioned but one thing about her which I don’t know is ever explicitly stated in the show itself, but that the writers outside of the show in dvd commentaries have spoken about is that they intentionally wrote Parker to be a character on the autism spectrum and the actress Beth Riesgraf also has spoken about her intention to portray Parker in that same way.
Some autistic traits that Parker exhibits
Literal thinking : an example of this would be like when Nate was trying to coach her through lying to the gun smuggler guy in Belgrade and gave her options of a number of places she could give as an answer to where she was from but Parker interpreted the suggestion literally + repeated word for word what Nate said. This is because her literal thinking makes interpreting the meaning behind statements or social cues within them impossible, and instead she is only ever able to understand the direct meaning apparent in what people tell her
Emotional differences: Parker most likely has a condition comorbid with autism called alexithymia which basically means she struggles to understand her emotions and the emotions of others so like her struggling to understand how she feels about her childhood also in the stork job, or even we might be seeing little bits of that with her struggling to understand her feelings around Hardison, though we can obviously see that she has feelings. And you can also see her struggling to understand the emotions of others like when she struggled to understand why the woman the team was protecting during the mile high job would be nervous about flying
*Also Parker’s unique facial expressions, which are sometimes exaggerated or awkward in that they don’t seem to appropriately fit the situation are likely from a mix of her not understanding the emotions related to the situation she is in and her trying to replicate expressions to better fit in with the people around her*
Social skill deficits: these are always really comical moments where Parker seems like she should know that something just isnt appropriate to say but she just doesn’t - like when she is a trying to make friends with that older woman on the jury at the end of s1 and doesn’t know not to tell her her grandchild is ugly or when she isn’t aware enough to know not to call the maid of honor fat during the wedding job or why that might be taken the wrong way
Of course this isn’t the entirety of Parker’s character or being, she’s also had a rough life and is more complex than just a label but as you’ve been curious about her expressions and behaviors I thought you might appreciate an explanation for at least part of why she acts the way that she does
