2021-08-21 05:28:21 +0000 UTCoh my god i was so excited for this! pure heroine i can confidently say is my most listened to album of all time, closely followed by taylor's fearless. I'm much closer to lorde in age than taylor, though, so it really felt like we were going through this at the same time this album was a huge flotation device for me in high school (as was fearless, but it wasn't when it came out, i got big into the album when i was around the age taylor was when she wrote it which makes sense). ph is such a coming of age album! ribs is one of my all time favorite songs it just drips nostalgia now listening to it as an adult, i remember living in my very first apartment after moving out with my best friend and being miserable and terrified of growing up and we only had each other and just hearing "you're the only friend i need, sharing beds like little kids, laugh until our ribs get tough, but that will never be enough" and all the lines about it feels so scary getting old takes me right back to it. my favorites are ribs, glory and gore, and bravado. also, the standard version of the album opens with "don't you think that it's boring how people talk?" and closes with "let em talk" and because only the standard version is available on cd, it makes a great loop experience back to the beginning and it's so cohesive. the bonus tracks (minus swinging party) and available on the love club ep as a separate cd so i had to get both lol. i could write about the album for hours but I'm just so glad you were able to hear it. melo is a masterpiece but nothing will hold the nostalgia that ph does for me i guess lol. hope you enjoy solar power! definitely a huge switch for her. can't wait to see more, this made my night :)

But thought for a second that this is Solar Power. Iβm not complaining though, Pure Heroine is my fave Lorde album so far. (havent heard Solar Power yet!!) Also, loved your faves bc those are mine too!!! Lorde music/lyrics oftentimes make me feel loopy.

The gap is not between just albums but mindsets and personal growth... Solar Power is growing on me. It's an evolution and a different state. Very Jack Antanoff but completely Lorde.
