BTS | Love Yourself: Answer | Full Album Reaction

Comments

One thing you are missing that I can only assume you put together in the intervening years is that most of the time the "other person" they are talking to/about in their love songs is ARMY. There is a surface level of a romantic love song meaning you can take away from the songs, but the deeper personal story is usually about ARMY. They always write from their own lives. It's been their ethos from the beginning. The love they hold for ARMY is even deeper and stronger than the love we hold for them. Even in a sad song like Fake Love from Love Yourself: Tear they are talking to ARMY. Fake Love was written during the same time period as Outro: Tear, when they were struggling with the pressures of global fame and thought about breaking up. The song is a treatise on the nature of fame, and in particular about how much it hurt them to put on a smiling mask and not share their pain and uncertainty with us at that time. They later did tell us about their struggle, but at the time they felt like they were lying to us. The song Make It Right was their later apology for thinking about breaking up. They felt like it was a grave insult for all the love their had received, even in their darkest and lowest moments, to even think that way, and they wanted to make amends, though all we felt was concern for their struggle. Mikrokosmos? About ARMY. Home? About ARMY. Boy with Luv? About ARMY. Sea? Talking to ARMY. Euphoria? About ARMY. Magic Shop? Talking to ARMY. and so on....

Again, it's still a kind of torture to me, as I watch through these old reactions, that you were so impressed with what they do vocally but had not seen them do it live, while dancing complex choreography! I mean, you're not wrong, they are amazing vocally. It's just that there is even more to them than you realized. Also, you were missing so much of the storytelling in their music videos, not to mention the BU. It makes me sad for you to miss all that but I can only assume in the intervening time you have by now discovered it for yourself.

Nanci B. Kuykendall

I know I’m a late patron but I made a thread on Twitter that broke down this album. I feel like it’s very important to listen to all the songs on the first disc in order even the repeated ones because it literally tells a story of loving someone, falling good out of love and then finding self love.

DomiLovesMuzik

One more comment. Jin has a solo called Yours, an OST for a k-drama. It’s gorgeous! In one of your reactions, you talked about how apparent how much the boys care for each other. I’ve now watched a few videos that show just that. I love how all the guys take care of JK…Jin and JK are so funny together! I love Suga’s interaction with J-Hope. You should check out their performance of Otsukare, a Japanese song and their performance is priceless!

Yukari

Oh Michael, it’s been 5 months and I keep coming back to your Trivia: Love reaction cause it gives me LIFE 🥺

janagabrielles

In “Home” they are referring to us, Armys 💜 we are their home🥺

Bangtan is life

And it’s Adora in Seesaw as well lol

Bangtan is life

Those high notes at the end of Trivia:Love was Adora, she used to work as a background vocalist for bighit for a long time, now she has her own solo career 😊

Bangtan is life

Just a little fyi about j-hope’s “Just Dance”, since he is a dancer from before joining Bighit and becoming a part of BTS , dancing is his live as well as music and performing ! The song may sound like it doesn’t have much layers but he compared his dancing with overcoming his anxiety! And also about falling in love! So it’s actually very cleaver and more deep than people give it credit for😊 btw he has a song called “Piece of Peace” or P.O.P , so when he says “let’s get it one POP” it can have multiple meanings

Bangtan is life

I would say that Hobi is more of a nickname since Hoseok is is actual name lol

Bangtan is life

I'm pretty sure, I hope, he looks up the lyrics on Doolset after :)

Janet Michelle

those lyric videos are often wrong about whos singing so be careful! also it said 'scars' not 'stars' in mikrokosmos

loreen

I just want to say, I feel like you gain soo much out of their music by listening to their albums in full as you are. Like the breath of fresh air of Euphoria which feels like it primes your heart to listen to the music from then on, the emotional turning point of Epiphany, the TRIUMPH of Idol and the acceptance and self-love it pumps into your vains...ugh. It's beautiful.

Sarah

Yesss thank you Carrie I was hoping someone explained this wordplay. Another little tidbit from Doolset's website...the live/love i/o wordplay is so beautiful too: The lyrics reminded me of BTS’ interview with Zach Sang during BTS’ US promotion in May of 2018 (a great interview!). RM said (at 4:10), “For me, there is a really interesting thing between Korean and English language. You know “love” and “live,” right? It sounds really similar. For Korean, in Korean, we call love in “사랑 [sarang]”, we call live- we call people in “사람 [saram]”, so it sounds really similar. So, I mean like, love, live– it’s the same word.” He also talked about 사람 [saram], 사랑 [sarang], and 살아 [sara; live] in his V Live back in November of 2016 (starting at about 06:40).

Gray

Love the Andre 3000 reference

Sarah

For the BTS album before Love Yourself, it is called “You Never Walk Alone”. ARMYs have complied good links for the lyric videos, MV, etc. I messaged you the link privately. You can check it out if you want to :))

Hailey Lee

Hey Michael, I'm a new patreon because I just couldn't wait for this reaction and I'm so happy to be part of this community. I've watched everything you have on BTS here. Love all your commentaries and I'm excited to discover more music with you on the rest of your reactions.

Mariana

I was looking for this comment!

Mariana

Did really no one explain to you about this album? Love Yourself: Answer actually has a few repackaged songs from the past albums (Her and Tear) to create a cohesive storyline from the beginning. It also consists of two separate tack lists to separate what songs belong in the narrative to the ones that don’t. So every member does have their solo songs on this album (including V and Jimin). The past intros to Her and Tear were moved in to fit into the whole “Love Yourself” journey. This probably would’ve been helpful to know before you reacted to it 😭 This would have made much more sense for you I think! The track list is as follows: TRACK - A 1 Euphoria 2 Trivia 起 : Just Dance 3 Serendipity (Full Length Edition) 4 DNA 5 Dimple 6 Trivia 承 : Love 7 Her 8 Singularity 9 FAKE LOVE 10 The Truth Untold (Feat. Steve Aoki) 11 Trivia 轉 : Seesaw 12 Tear 13 Epiphany 14 I'm Fine 15 IDOL 16 Answer : Love Myself TRACK - B 1 Magic Shop 2 Best Of Me 3 Airplane pt.2 4 Go Go 5 Anpanman 6 MIC Drop 7 DNA (Pedal 2 LA Mix) 8 FAKE LOVE (Rocking Vibe Mix) 9 MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)(Full Length Edition) So you can clearly see the gradual change from a love like Euphoria, to Singularity. The Truth Untold to Seesaw. And then Tear leads to the final conclusions: Epiphany and Answer: Love Myself

Rina

Ahhhh please check out their music videos and live performances for some of these song. Just like you said, idol has some crazy choreography and live performances

Tessa

I really hope you check out Agust D and August D2 they are sugas mixtapes and holy shit. Lyrically it’s unreal u really learn more about him as an individual.

Shavani

love your reaction to the album. your reaction to RM's Trivia: Love had me laughing cuz when i heard that "FUCK JKLMN...ST" for the first time i yelling too. RM really tends to go galaxy brain-conceptual lyrics while SUGA tends to go for more direct, evocative lyrics that just strike you right in the heart. highkey wish you could check out the IDOL stage they did for Jimmy Fallon BTS week, or their MMA 2019 full performance (reaction vid or even in your own time). if you do check out WINGS, maybe YNWA would be better since that's a repackage with three additional songs. Spring Day is a great song on its own (one of their best), but contextually, the MV was dedicated to the victims of the Sewol Ferry incident (referenced with lots of death imagery and yellow ribbons... there's a few explanatory vids about it on ytb if you wanna check that out). Really love how genuine you are with your reactions. Hope the rest of your 2021 goes great, and an even better 2022 for you.

MMMoonde

If you do you’ll never walk alone before Wings I will cry. Ynwa has a lot of the same songs as Wings but wings is so much more cohesive, not that there isn’t good additional songs on ynwa but wings is so much more of a journey

julian kristiansen rundhaug

I really can't thank you enough. I've loved so many of these songs for a long time, But listening to all three albums, with your lyrical insights, as one long story, really brought me to another level of love and new understanding. <3

Lisa Reid (Sophrishea)

i think as soon as you see a live performance of Idol, then you'll really get a feel for the song. It's kind of an anthem for the fans, and it goes so hard live along with the choreo

Simone

Honestly Trivia:Love is one of my all-time favourite songs and one of the songs I show people to explain to them how genius RMs lyricism is. The "I to U" line is great, but one of my favourites is probably the person to love bit. You only get it when you know some Korean, so I'll explain it: Person (Salam) and love (sarang) sound very similar in Korean, l and r are the same letter in their alphabet. So they turn him from a person 사람 into love 사랑. I think you see the similarity. And they do that by filling out his corners which also references the last letter of the words, which turns from a square ㅁ (m) into a round ㅇ (ng). I was blown away when I first learned this and it remains one of my favorite hidden gems in BTS lyrics.

Kyysen

If you want a little more BTS speaking Spanish, they did a Christmas Carol Medley [2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon_Music Festival] where Jin and J-Hope sing Feliz Navidad :)

Shannon Ryan

Paused the video just to come to the comments section to see if someone explained “사람” to “사랑”. When I heard about this while beginning to learn Hangul it just made me love RM’s lyricism even more.

EB

As for which album to do next... yes, technically You Never Walk Alone (YNWA) would be up next HOWEVER, as someone else has already mentioned, its story has to do with what we call the Bangtan Universe (BU) which starts with the Most Beautiful Moment In Life (HYYH) albums. So if you're interested in the BU then I would definitely start with HYYH to get the full understanding of the double meanings in YNWA. Disclaimer: the BU is an intense rabbit hole and on a whole other level of storytelling and meaning and it's still something fans are unraveling even to this day. So if you want the music at face value (well bts' version of face value which is still a hell of a lot of meaning in itself lol), then yes, You Never Walk Alone is next.

alyssa

I love that you mentioned that Epiphany feels like a full circle song, because that's exactly what it is. This entire trilogy is one big story and Epiphany is what ties it together at the end. I will say, I wish you had listened to the entire LY Answer album altogether to get the cohesive story. I know you already listened to and understand the other parts of the story in the previous albums but it just hits so much harder when everything is connected at once. The solos tell the story so maybe you can just go listen to those altogether some other time. And in this video you also said V & Jimin didn't get solos in this album but they did, they just weren't in this video bc they were already in Her (Serendipity by Jimin) & Tear (Singularity by V). So like I said, when you listen to just the solos in the order that they're in on the Answer album, it tells the story in its entirety.

alyssa

That was great. I enjoy watching you journey and the emotions you're experiencing while listening :)

nana_berlin

I took a while to warm up to Idol too and now it’s a favourite. The live performances are so good - I especially like the one in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace (for Jimmy Fallon in 2020) and MMA 2018. Well worth a watch.

Frances

Is that the wordplay that RM did in trivia love? The "round his sharp edges", are you kidding me? That is pure genius. I thought the word play was just "sarang" and "sarum" sounding the same. this is crazy... what.... Okay, this is the best wordplay I have ever listened to in my life.

Hailey Lee

Honestly if you're looking for something special to do before diving into their next era musically, I actually recommend rounding out the Love Yourself series with a followup reaction or two explaining in more depth some of the things that honestly you can't understand if you aren't Korean/by listening to the song alone and reading the lyrics: RM's song Trivia: Love is actually far more genius than you can know bcos it involves the Korean language lyrics, and Idol has a LOT of hugely significant cultural references and context, so maybe watch DKDKTV's "Explained by a Korean" for Idol would be good (their videos of this type are VERY good don't worry it blows people away). And I don't know if they have one for Love too but honestly it's genius haha. Just one example is that in Korean the word for Person is Saram which looks like this: 살암 where the "m" ending is the box shaped ㅁ letter within the last symbol (aka syllable), whereas the word for Love is Sarang aka 살앙 where the "ng" ending is a roundㅇ instead: when he sings about how you round his sharp edges and turn him from a person into love he means that in a genius literal AND metaphorical way of turning the boxy m into ng to turn person into love aka saram into sarang XD

Carrie Morris

Man he's gonna love 'first love'. seems right up his street. I agree with BS&T MV has a lot of visuals of the theme on Wings album.

Vanessa

I'd vote for YNWA (which is an enhanced version of Wings). Wings was really interesting as some of it was inspired by the book Demian (I won't spoil the themes). However, I absolutely would recommend watching the MVs for Boy Meets Evil and Blood, Sweat and Tears as they are really important for enhancing the meaning. Wings also has one of me all time favorite BTS songs - Suga's First Love. Separately, they had short films prior to the launch of the album, which are beautiful. The actual content from a storyline perspective won't make much sense to you as you haven't delved into the BU, but I would still recommend watching it as they are gorgeous and lead with quotes from Demian which gives further context. I'd recommend this link because the official versions don't have text translated (like Epiphany): https://youtu.be/_FkkW2_UoNU If you're looking for rap, I second either Agust D's D2 mixtape or RM's Mono playlist.

Lauren

It really isba timeless comfort. I really love listening to it all the way thru on repeat sometimes. It too hasnt left my spotify wrapped yet

Emily G

if you loved them saying mi casa, wait till u see chicken noodle soup OT7 live performance with entire verses in spanish

Salsabil yakoubi

MIKROKOSMOS Lyrics, you will understand them better, once you see the song performed in a stadium with ARMYs and their ARMY bombs, bc it literally looks so beautiful like a galaxy, it is also a "fan song", Magic shop was one too, also 2!3! which u will discover in the you never walk alone era, they are songs sung in the encore usually, and are written directly to their fans

Salsabil yakoubi

BTS do albums in eras so they complete a certain story, you did the love yourself trilogy, you did map of the soul you still have You never walk alone era, the most beautiful moment in life trilogy and the school trilogy, they have 2 albums that are one offs: dar and wild and BE which u reacted to (that is if we are not including the Japanese albums, which are basically similar to Korean albums but in Japanese and they add original Japanese sons in them, the Mixtapes (RM has 2, Suga has 2, and JHOPE has 1) along with other free souncloud projects they release, either solo work or in units, they also have covers there too) ...point is, BTS has so much music and worked a lot during the 8 yeras they have been together. But it is exciting to discover it all over again with you.

Salsabil yakoubi

react to you never walk alone next bc it has the songs on wings plus 3 or 4 extra songs, so if u do you will be done with wings/you never walk alone era, next would be the most beautiful moment in life era/trilogy (part 1, Part 2 and youn forever)

Salsabil yakoubi

IDOL lyrics are filled with Korean culture refrences (the MV especially)

Salsabil yakoubi

JIMIN and V had their solo songs in the other 2 albums as "intros"

Salsabil yakoubi

There is a running storyline in BTS MVs so watching a one off will be visually pleasing, but it will make more sense if u watch BU MVs in order, maybe u can do that after album listens

Salsabil yakoubi

also BTS MVs, when they say "trailer" in the title, usually it's not the whole song, so there is another verse in epiphany that u did not hear

Salsabil yakoubi

TRIVIA LOVE lyrics have a lot of wordplay in Korean that does not translate to English; you might wanna check doolset to better understand the genius behind it

Salsabil yakoubi

A lot of BTS lyrics are written by RM, he is an artist and a poet!!! He gets inspiration from reading books and going to galleries (follow his insta and it's basically a meuseum tour)

Salsabil yakoubi

LY: Answer is a compilation album that has songs from the other 2 albums, when u listen to them with the extra songs they added in the 3rd album, in the order, it makes a lot of sesnse, from the happy blind love, to not being yourself to loving yourself

Salsabil yakoubi

would u consider doing a twice reaction?

ann

OKAY this is the first time i've ever supported a patreon because I just IMMEDIATELY needed to hear everything you have to say about their music. Usually reactors listen to BTS songs out of order depending on what is suggested to them and miss out on a lot of the connections between their album trilogies, particularly the reoccurring imagery used in their lyrics, so I really enjoy the fact you're going through their discography BY ALBUM and not just what people want you to hear the most at that moment. Their discography grouping is... the school trilogy: 2 cool 4 skool (FIRST Album), O!RUL8 2?, Skool Love Affair Dark & Wild Youth trilogy: HYYH/ The Most Beautiful Moment in Life series - p1, p2, & young forever which is a compilation album with THREE new songs and some extended versions of songs WINGS / You Never Walk Alone (YNWA is a repackage of Wings with FOUR new songs) Love Yourself series Map of The Soul series (Persona & 7) BE I hope this helps you in your approach to future BTS reactions! They also release Japanese albums which are a mix of the Japanese versions of some songs and completely original songs but we don't have to worry about them at the moment

blue side

I seriously LOVE watching your reactions! Seeing you go sideways about voices and wordplay, and catching things that I have forgotten to think about. Wow. So much joy. Euphoria: Love that you fawn over JK's vocals. He's my vocal line bias. BTS (I suspect RM or PD Bang) is out here making folks bust out dictionaries, because 'A priori" is not a typo: Definition of a priori 1a: DEDUCTIVE b: relating to or derived by reasoning from self-evident propositions — compare A POSTERIORI c: presupposed by experience 2a: being without examination or analysis: PRESUMPTIVE b: formed or conceived beforehand Trivia Love: When you were going nuts over RM's wordplay, I realized there's a line you wouldn't understand as you need to know a bit of Korean –Look, even "I" and "you" make the same sounds– [in Korean the words are sound similar] You were asking about the vocalists on the track: Chorus = RM, ADORA, JUNE Gang vocals= RM, ADORA, Hiss Noise, Slow Rabbit, Supreme Boi, Pdogg In many of the songs, until, Persona? [Don't hold me to this] ADORA is regularly one of, if not THE, back vocalist you hear during solo songs. Idol: This was my entry song, the MV is chaotic and colorful and chock FULL of Korean imagery. It's slap track. As in the lyrics and the MV are meant as a slap at haters A(like do they EVER stop?) Came out when people were calling the BTS too westernized/forgetting their roots [hear this so often still] so the sounds you are hearing that are different are actually traditional Korean instruments and I won't stop saying it, go to doolset for commentary on the lyrics, or watch one of the 'Idol explained by a Korean' videos on youtube, because there is SO MUCH to unpack in this song. The MV for Idol is terrific, seriously, Live performances of this, for pure pageantry: 2018 MMA Idol full performance, for still smashing but less crowded version, Jimmy Fallon BTS Idol. Yes, the albums are written in order, the songs and the albums have an overarching theme. This vulnerability with their lyrics is why I'm ARMY. They are insanely handsome, their dancing is so damn good, but in the end, it's their lyrics. :laughs: Welcome to BTS fandom, Loving one song, then hearing the next song and loving that, then loving that one. It's a constant battle picking a song from an album or an era. Good luck! Mikrokosmos is an ARMY song /BTS song written for ARMY Great reaction, so much fun. As for what to do next: It might be time to skip all the way to the beginning and work your way back to this point. You are coming very close to the Bangtan Universe era and the songs and accompanying MV's are even more closely bound together to tell a story. Failing that, HYYH, aka The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt 1 & 2 In my opinion, the order is very important here, therefore I *strongly* encourage HYYH BEFORE Wings./ You Never Walk Alone. Have a good one!

-Mac-

That would be amazing!!

Kate N

I definitely want him to check out HYYH youth trilogy first before going into wings

Anjelica Chan

I like to think of the MV stories and album stories as different

cutie beauty

Listen to You Never Walk Alone (YNWA) next for albums. It's a repackaging of WINGS - its predecessor - with a couple of extra songs. But I do also think it would be awesome if you could do some music videos from the BE/MOTS/LY era because the mvs add SO MUCH to the story <3 :)

Monika K

Since YNWA is a repackage album where many songs are from the *Wings series, you should just react to the new songs and react to another one of their albums. I recomment the WINGS album next which came before the LY series but has some must listen BTS classics. *I accidentally typed LY series*

Arielle

Just to follow up, I think you would really enjoy RM's solo project Mono. It's like free therapy.

Leah Herrick

Hi Michael! I've so enjoyed your breakdown of this series. BTS albums go in series and its great to watch you see the storytelling aspect to their music. You Never Walk Alone is a repackage. Wings is the first installment (and is in my opinion their best work). You Never Walk Alone closes off the journey and includes Spring Day which is probably their most beloved song. Before that is The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Trilogy. This is where the storyline or the BTS universe really takes off in the MV (yes there is a cinematic universe). This storyline is expanded on in the MV's and short films that belong to the Wings and Love Yourself series. There are lots of fan theories and late night connecting dots involved! Dark and Wild could probably be seen as a stand alone but is often included in the 'school trilogy' which proceeds it. All that being said I have really enjoyed joining your patreon and watching this journey with you. Love your appreciation and love for music of all kinds.

Leah Herrick

Yeah a priori is correct. It is a latin phrase. It is related to philosophy and essentially means knowledge that you have without needing to experience or observe it. So the line is "a priori from deep inside of me" means knowledge he had deep inside already.

Chloe C

I loved this series and it is always interesting to see people who genuinely listen to the music react to the message they receive. It is not always the same for everyone which makes that much more interesting. I actually rewatch your reactions.

Lele Serieux

idol's sound really is so different and funnily enough, that difference can be attributed to traditional korean instruments. the whole song is about accepting their roles as idols (the name for those in the k-pop industry. fun fact, k-pop is actually called idol music in korea too), even though they've been ridiculed in the past by those they once looked up to in the korean rap scene (yoongi, suga's real name, and namjoon, rm's real name, both came from the underground korean rap scene and were mocked by those in it after joining an idol group because they wore makeup [which those who mocked them called them girls for it] and were apparently "selling out". idol is finally calling them out and basically saying "yeah, so what i'm an idol i'm fucking proud of it" which is just heart warming to see. the live performances of it are insane, they sometimes wear traditional korean hanbok and in their performance at mma (a korean award show) they had a lot of traditional props/stage elements. even if the song isn't someone's favourite sonically i think it's cool that it can be appreciated for tying in so well with the song's lyrical content. using traditional korean instruments in a song saying i'm me and i'm proud of it is very cool :)

jade

Love this! Could you react to WYD NOW? by Sadie Jean!

Eduardo Zamora

Thank you so Michael, you are my favorite person to do music review(Especially BTS’s albums!!)! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

DanielleM

hobi (nickname for j-hope/hoseok) doesn't speak spanish in it but he did a collab w/ becky g called "chicken noodle soup" (it's a remake of a song by young b, dj webstar and feat. AG, a song that both of them credit as being the one that got them into dancing and, therefore, was something that connected them), where there are english, korean and spanish lyrics, it's a super fun song!

jade

Oh, I'm an Idol ARMY (meaning I truly got into them when they released Idol MV) and Epiphany is in my top 5 songs ever so this was super special reaction to me! I'm so happy you love it! Regarding next things do whatever you want but I personally can't wait to see you reacting to Wings. It's dark, maybe even darker than Tear but it's also amazing!

Viviena

Aaaa I'm glad the links were useful!! Thank you so much for continuing your journey with BTS! I love watching your reactions, and I really appreciate how you really take your time to notice not only their voices but also the lyrics and messages they convey through their songs. So thank you again!! Also, for the written bit at the end of EPIPHANY, here is the translation🌟: “At the end of the journey to find myself I end up back in the same place. In the end, what you need to find is the beginning of everything, the milestone, the map of the soul. That who everyone has but not everyone can find, starting from now I will try to find it”

SB

mono is timeless comfort honestly

Vanessa

An introduction I recommend : An Introduction to the members of BTS 2021 update by Ida S. https://youtu.be/kGRlqyuky2s

Hailey Lee

Much awaited album reaction but completely worth the wait as always! :) Love myself and Epiphany are in my top 5 best songs by BTS as well. They have been my constant go-to and reminder on so many days when I'm low ad not feeling so good about myself. It feels like BTS and I have taken the journey together and we get each other. I also think there is no right or wrong way to go about the albums, you could move on to YNWA and it would be beautiful but now that you have reached a stage where you kinda get them, I'd recommend getting to know the personalities as well. It helps you connect on such a deeper level. Either way, whatever you choose to watch and react to I'd be waiting excitedly for you to post it!

Kritika

Yesss, I feel like he should watch the MV’s because the choreo brings another dimension to their songs. But he should watch like a BTS introduction first, I recommend the BTS 2021 Introduction to BTS by Ida S, in order for him to be familiar with their faces before jumping into the MV’s :)

Hailey Lee

looooved the video !!!! you really need to check them live, they're soooo gooood!!!! they did a week of performances on jimmy fallon, you def need to check some of those. Also, if we're going backwards with the albums you need to check You Never Walk Alone (It's the repackage of wings, same tracks w a few extras) keep in mind Wings/You Never Walk Alone was the first time we ever got BTS solos for eveyone (before that we only got rap solos) so the songs are very personal and meaningful. And!! I know looking at their discography might be confusing, they go by eras and do at least two or three albums in that era, the last album usually being a repackage aka the same songs as before with new ones, usually to make a cohesive story, like Answer or shadow.

Paula Villegas

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: Do the BTS introduction first, so you remember their faces a little bit. Then do the BE&MOTS7&LY music videos because their MV’s is not just an ordinary video, their choreography brings out another life to the song. Some are suggesting to jump to their other albums but I feel like you’ll forget the meaning, context of the songs when you do eventually come back to see their music videos because if you plan on watching the MV’s after you reacted to ALL the discography, trust me, you’ll forget the essence of the era of each album, because their discography is very big and different from each other. Myself as an ARMY, each era/album/trilogy is so different and it would be better to get the full ride.

Hailey Lee

I suggest you do wings first because “you never walk alone” is just the expanded version of wings. But either way WINGS/YOU NEVER WALK ALONE is my favorite album of BTS. The sort behind it is amazing

erin Whittier

I love your reactions to their music — you really appreciate good songwriting and it has made me become more away of lyrics in songs now! I can’t wait to see more from you! The MV and Live performances are honestly on a whole other level than any of the western artists atm — the closest thing to compare it to would be if there were 7 Michael Jacksons that created music videos as intricate as Taylor Swift with as much amazing choreography as a full blown dance recital and had the budget/looks of the most expensive movie ever made. They really put so much time and effort into everything they make because they truly love what they do so I’m excited for you to see all the other amazing things they can do!!

Virginia

YESSS!!! I would love to see him react to that performance!!

Virginia

Also, I pressed enter before finishing as always, Im a dumbass. I just wanted to thank you for all of these reactions I genuinely genuinely love seeing you react to their music, it's so enjoyable seeing how much you appreciate their lyricism and songwriting. It also feels like discovering their music for the first time to me as well, which is an amazing feeling.

patricia jimjimcherie

As as a Spanish speaker (I'm peruvian) I know exactly what hearing BTS sing Spanish, even one word, does to a person. Home is one of my absolute favorite songs. Trivia Love and Answer Love Myself are some of my favorite songs as well, it's just, BTS writing I'd just chefs kiss. Also, just saw you know "I'm Fine" is an answer to "Save Me" a BTS song from a previous album. Anyway! Can't wait for You Never Walk Alone / Wings (check that you have all the songs of both album in one playlist so you don't have to do a double reaction).

patricia jimjimcherie

You Never Walk Alone for the next one, pretty please!

Cat L

One thing that also really hits me about Epiphany is how it relates to Jin. Now, in 2021, Jin is one of the loudest member, joking constantly, calling himself "worldwide handsome", hilarious, just a loud and outspoken person. But even just five years ago, Jin was one of the quietest members. He grew up in a very middle class family, where his father worked 7-6 and his mother stayed at home. He did well in school and got accepted into a top university in South Korea. But he always felt so 'bland'. I feel like he thought of himself as 'nothing special'. If you hear the song "Awake" from the Wings album, he talks about feeling like he'll never be anything better than fine and how he thinks all of the other guys will always be more talented and successful than him. So seeing the transition from someone who obviously thought very little of himself to what he is now and this song, is so amazing.

Super awesome you went through the whole LY series! Its my favorite from them because it is such an emotional story! Just a fun fact, each part of this series has a Chinese character next to its name that states what part of the story it is (introduction, development, conflict, and conclusion): LOVE YOURSELF 起 Wonder: Introduction of the story with Euphoria LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her: the Development of the story with Serendipity and DNA (fated love) LOVE YOURSELF 轉 Tear: the Conflict of the story with Fake Love (love that is untrue due to self-hate) LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer: the Conclusion of the story with Epiphany (true love begins with loving yourself) Excited to see you react to the next series! Wings and You Never Walk Alone are the names of the next albums but you can just do YNWA because it is the repackaged album with all the songs plus extra. This was the era where they all did solo songs for the first time and they are VERY EMOTIONAL so be warned!

Muna

Hi Michael! Since you love Suga's lyrics the most, you may deep dive further on Rapline's Mixtapes. You can see their own growth and maturity. Their Rawness they put into their lyrics. 1. Mixtape - RM (2015) by RM 2. Mixtape - AgustD (2016) by Suga 3. Mixtape - Hopeworld (2018) by J-hope 4. Mixtape/Playlist - Mono (2018) by RM 5. Mixtape - D2 (2020) by Suga fyi, their mixtapes are their own free works for fans and available at Soundcloud. BTS' Soundcloud discography is another new hidden world, where they put out a lot of song covers and personal songs/remixes.

Maira Lovanne

looooved the video!! i also totally think you should watch one of the concerts from the love yourself tour, the performances make every song even better! my favorite ones are the ones from brazil and wembley as some other people mentioned in the comments, and i'd also love it if you checked out one of their documentaries (they have a few, some in movie, some in series format) but maybe that would be better after checking out the concert itself, since a lot of it is backstage footage from either the wings or the love yourself tour! again, really loved your review! hope you have a nice week :)

jo

The beautiful background vocals in RM’s Trivia: Love are sung by June from Planetarium Records (also a former BigHit trainee). Adora (a BigHit producer) and June also sing the harmonies with RM.

Cat L

D-2 by Agust D is honestly a lyrical masterpiece that I highly recommend checking out. Strange ft RM is one of my favourites from that mixtape and it talks about such personal and deep topics. Also, it might be a fun idea to do a video on live performances? Their choreos are insane and they are such good live performers

winter

I laughed when you said that you would play just dance when you wanna feel good because its the song I have set to play when I tell my alexa to play my happy song.

Jillian Johnson

I'd been wondering if Tear had been too much, and I'm glad you took your time before coming back to this one. Epiphany and Answer: Love Myself are among my many BTS go-tos for those days when I feel like I'm not good enough. Also really appreciate you adding Mikrokosmos--it's such a good metaphor for this thing that is BTSxARMY. It's something I still sit in awe of that there are millions of fans around the world, who feel so connected to these 7 humans, but also to each other, and it's a mutual relationship of respect, appreciation, support, and love. I agree with others that one of the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself concerts is something that must be seen. And greedy me would love to see your reaction to a full show, but even if it's just something you do for yourself, seeing them perform these songs just adds even more depth and meaning, since dance and performance are as important as the music and vocals. While there are dvds out there, there are some shows available on both VLIVE and Weverse for streaming and don't cost too much--Wembley and The Final in Seoul are ones I go back to quite a bit. Thank you, thank you again for wearing your emotions and doing these journeys cold. We know there is so much music out there, and we really appreciate you taking the time to travel down the BTS road with us!

jennptx

"Even the scars that were formed from my mistakes are my very own constellations" is my favorite lyric of all time, the first time I heard this song when the album came out, I did the same exact thing as you, i was mind blown, screenshotted it, and wanted to get it tattooed

moolissa

And your coment “I love suga, I love suga…” I KNOW =‘) My bias since day one

Fabiana Souza

it's so nostalgic ❤️

Fabiana Souza

Please please do RM - mono album. It’s a healing album. I’m promise you are gonna cry; but it worth every tear. It’s also about depression, feeling lonely and loving yourself

valeria castillo

Im brazilian and the show in São Paulo is so beautiful =‘)

Fabiana Souza

Thank you so much for also reacting to Mikrokosmos and Home, those are 2 of my favorite songs!! The next Album would indeed be 'You Never Walk Alone' which is basically 'Wings' with 3 more songs. So if you do this, you can skip 'Wings'

Sydnee R

Also quick question do u have the AMA live stream to post? I was and I assume some others were just watching the AMAs and missed the livestream but would love to be able to watch it now.

Disha

I think something you might find interesting is in I'm Fine, after Jimin starts the song and RM goes right after, during RM's rap, if you pay attention to the instrumental they are playing the notes from Save Me in reverse. Notes: Save Me ~ B B B A F# F# A F# E F# E D B I'm Fine ~ B D E F# E F# A F# F# A B B B

licibi

You Never Walk Alone is technically next in the order we have set up here. But another option is to do an album reaction to a solo rap line mixtape. In the time line that you have followed so far, we have Agust Ds (Suga) 2nd album D2, and RMs Mono, and Jhopes Hope World. After you do You Never Walk Alone you could Listen to Agust Ds 1st self titled Album Agust D. Just a thought!

Booryanne

And one thing I would love love love to see you react to is their Love Yourself/Speak Yourself Tour. Speak Yourself was the second leg and you've already reacted to most of the songs there so I'm sure you'd enjoy the concert a lot. There are official recordings for São Paulo, London and Japan and also the The Final in Seoul, which has a different setlist since it was the last one. I would go for the one in Brazil because of obvious reasons lol but the one in Wembley is also very special. Links are kinda tricky to find since they were all released as DVDs, but we can help if you decide to watch it!

Giu Bressani

I'm writing this as I watch so I apologize if you address any of this further in the video. Also apologies that this is a novel. Firstly, I second the recommendation to watch Euphoria live (from one of the speak yourself shows if possible as that has some incredible staging). If you want, watch the full speak yourself tour! There's only a few songs on the set list that you haven't heard. I'd also recommend you check out the Euphoria DJ Swivel Forever Mix. Its never been confirmed but the rumour is the reason this was created is the producer of this song (DJ Swivel)heard so many people wanted to use Euphoria for their first dance but its just a bit too fast so he wanted to help out with that. And then BigHit made a really touching MV for it using clips of JK taken by the other members. I'd also really recommend checking out Doolset for Trivia: Love as, in my opinion, the Korean word play is so much more amazing than the English but we can't really pick up on that without their help. The trivia songs go together to form a full story. First Hobi's is that first initial falling in love, in his case on the dance floor. RM's is the story of a relationship that's in its prime. Then Suga's is the realization that while there's these feelings the relationship just isn't working and they need to let it go. The background vocals in Seesaw are one of their female producers named Adora. You can actually hear her in alot of BTS songs like Inner Child and Sweet Night I do believe the Epiphany MV is missing one of the verses, but otherwise its a good watch. It does tie in to the BTS Universe storyline which is why it might have confused you a bit. Also there's no better experience then being in a crowd of tens of thousands of people at a BTS concert as they all sing together about how we need to love ourselves. To truly get the message and complexity of I'm Fine, you'll need to hear a song from the previous trilogy called Save Me. The way they were designed to work together is masterful. For Idol, you should watch the MV and an explanation video as its basically a giant F U to all the complaints they typically get from media (and from fans) and its quite the experience. But your right, Idol is amazing live. They often do remixes of it during lives but its just so good. Answer Love Myself is one of my absolute favourite BTS songs. Its my go to (along with Magic Shop) whenever I need a bit of a pick me up.

Kathryn T

I mean, You Never Walk Alone is a 'repackage' of their Wings album (which was released about 4 months prior) and it has all the Wings songs plus Spring Day, Not Today and You Never Walk Alone (a very special one that I have tattooed on me)

Giu Bressani

oh cypher 4 yes yes, although he may need some context for the reason behind the cypher series lol.

nick

yeah the music first route is what makes his perspective so unique to me. plus, he is so genuine and nice.

nick

me too, HYYH is one of my fav eras, especially with the mvs and the BU :(

nick

ohhhh you're right. he's only seen the new intro before for PTD... on that note, i fckin miss the old intro :'''((

nick

yeah the live performance is what makes the song the legend it is, especially with all it's CRAZY concert mixes that we may never officially get lol and ofc, the choreo is... well, insane.

nick

omg mono i can't wait for the day he gets to mono. that album still makes me feel so many emotions and has never left my spotify wrapped even after 3 years since it came out. i wish he could get to it right after these LY albums coz it's in the same timeline of release but i understand that he needs to get through BTS' group discography first so I'll just wait, no pressure :)

nick

So, next album is You Never Walk Alone and it's such an special one. It's the first time they released solo songs in an album and it has some of their most iconic songs that are landmarks on their career like Blood, Sweat and Tears and Spring Day (the song with the longest running on korean charts with over 250 weeks in the top 100 and still counting!)

Giu Bressani

PS - I can totally relate to all your breakdowns in between songs. Went through all of those myself on my first time around, and watching you react in the same way gifts me with that wonderful feeling of discovering something to fall in love with all over again. Hehe~! Seriously, really enjoy your work, Michael!

yesiqua

So happy that I subscribed to your Patreon, and that you released this video just as I finished binging all your BTS Album reactions in just a few days! I love how genuine and sincere you are with your thoughts and emotions as you go through each song—not to mention how much I enjoy your insights into their lyrics! Love Yourself: Answer houses some of my favorite BTS songs (though I honestly can’t think of any song of theirs that I don’t love). Trivia: Love is where I fell in love with the group’s lyricism. RM adds so much depth and poetry to this song, even extending to a play on Korean linguistics between “people” (saram - 사람) and “love” (sarang - 사랑) where you literally erode the edges of the last consonant of the former (ㅁ) and turn people into love (ㅇ). Check out the article on doolset bangtan: https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/08/24/trivia-love/ This song made me want to take up Korean just because I know there are so many genius play on words in BTS’ discography that I’ve missed. Thanks for taking the time to create such awesome and engaging videos. Looking more to exploring more of your stuff and can’t wait for your future uploads!

hi michael <3 beautiful reaction as always. "A priori" is a term that means - and I'm pulling the definition from google - "knowledge that is gained through theoretical deduction and not from direct observation or experience". in the song euphoria jungkook says "from deep inside me, a priori. i get breathtakingly euphoric. my surroundings become more and more transparent." from my understanding the use of a priori here means that this sense of euphoria and his dream of the idyllic utopia he is describing was always inside of him, "without direct observation". this paints a picture that jungkook was unknowingly and subconsciously longing for the euphoric peace he has discovered in this song - it was always within him. perhaps he was longing for it even as he went through all the turmoil that was described in the previous albums. only now though things are becoming "more transparent" and he gets to "observe" and "experience" this euphoria. i'm assuming he gets to "experience" this, what was previously a theoretic euphoria, through and with the"you" he is referring to in the song. "take my hand now, you are the cause of my euphoria" - experiencing it together. i hope that makes sense, I'm honestly still trying to wrap my head around it as i type this out - which only goes to show how deeply layered and well thought out every word bts uses is. sending you all the love <3

Monika K

Oh yes, the euphoria performance is one of Jungkook's iconic moments.

Hailey Lee

Wish you would do all the music videos from love yourself series, map of the soul series, and BE

Chandini S

Epiphany live at Wembley… you won’t regret it 💜

Laura

Thank you so much for this reaction. I enjoyed it so much, along with the rest of your BTS reactions. Listening to their albums front to back is really the best way to enjoy BTS' music because they truly are album artists. Listening to their songs in isolation is good, but hearing the full storytelling of their concepts is what makes their songs really shine. Now that you've finished this trilogy, I'd love to see you do a concert to experience these songs live. Several others have mentioned the Wembley concert, and that is what I would vote for as well. It covers a good chunk of the Love Yourself series songs, as well as some from Map of the Soul: Persona. Here is a good link for it: Wembley part 1: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rH3jHjGCihQU7n6YWA2XDAHqgjQjtdi8/view Wembley part 2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tAAtHxxLVIRB82hRhOMOYMLE89oH_HXT/view Looking forward to whatever it is you do next!

Lisa

I think 'priori' is correct, it is definitely a word, but one I hadn't heard of. The backgroud vocal rifs in Trivia: Love, aren't RM, i think its JK but I might be wrong. For Trivia: Seesaw, the background vocalist is Adora, a former producer at bighit, now a soloist. Her vocals are in the background of a few BTS and TXT songs. You can hear her at the end of Ego, Jhope's outro from their newer album Map of the Soul: 7. If you really like SUGA, he has 2 mixtapes under the name Agust D, I love both, his most recent one especially. If you get time, you should check it out, even if you dont do a reaction. I think you'd enjoy it <3. Also your wee tree owl is super cute!

Hannah McMillan

Oh god…a true gift

Fabiana Souza

"Whatever it is I'll do it by christmas as a thank you to you all" What do you think ARMY? I'm thinking that a perfect christmas gift could be their best ever performance AKA the MMA awards 2019. I would love to see him react to that stage. :) How about you?

Borahekore

This is the translasion from the Epiphany MV : "To come to the end of the process of finding one self means to return to the starting point. What must be discovered, in the end, is the beginniing of everything, the milestone, THE MAP OF THE SOUL. Although a part of everyone, it is not discovered by anyone. I will try to find it, starting from now." So the next album is You Never Walk Alone. I would like to focus on 2 songs from the album that i believe u will need explanation videos. Blood Sweat and Tears is heavily conected to a book by Herman Hesse called Damien, so the whole concept of the book and Blood Sweat and Tears will as a result be reflected in every solo song from the album. The solo songs will have a clever double layered meanning, making connections with the fictional characters they represent in the BTS Universe as well as their own real selves. I would highly recommend u watch this explained video for the max enjoyment of the album. Blood Sweat and Tears explained - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tlgAUE6yjg The secound song u will need help with is Spring Day whose MV is strongly conected to a Korean tragedy. Spring Day explained ( deep dive in to everything conented to the tragedy) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrT4a_Fw6pE&t=28s Spring Day explained ( this one is an overall explanation) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tye1ONFeKis I hope this will make it easier for u to understand everything and as always it was a pleasure to take in your emotions and thoughts about the album.

Branka VMin

Agreed! I think watching the Wembley concert is a perfect way to wrap up this trilogy. So many of these songs shine particularly well live and given how much Michael loved Epiphany, he NEEDS to see it live.

Lisa

It just hit me… You are not ready for Cypher 4 in this álbum, begg.

Fabiana Souza

Thank you so much, I always love your reactions and how you really analyze the songs thank you🙏 I believe next album should be Wings, Wings "you never walk alone" is kind of a continuation of the Wings album you should probably start with the original Wings first.

Maile Annunziato

this man

Fabiana Souza

Oh god… that was amazing. I vote for “you never walk alone” next, one of my favorites. I have a tatto with this line written in tengwar kkkk ❤️

Fabiana Souza

the "the scars from my mistakes make up my own constellation" isn't a tattoo for me (at least yet) but I do have it on my bedroom wall because it's just such a beautiful reminder. So glad it's one of your favorites too

Giu Bressani

super tuna song of the year 😅

hannah

Hey Micheal! I became a patron just because I couldn't wait for your BTS' reactions. Now, You Never Walk Alone would be the next album just like everyone else already told you lol And I also recommend what everyone else has said. Live perfomances of Just Dance, Euphoria, Epiphany or just the entire Wembley show for the Love Yourself tour ;) Thanks for the lovely super lovely reactions and feedbacks on every album! (I too am bilingual, spanish and english so I know how much it meant for you the mi casa in Home, creí que me moría ahí mismo lol). -as soon as i finish this comment, imma watch that concert, i feel so nostalgic-

Marcela Pereira

On Seesaw and also for Euphoria and other songs you'll encounter, it's Adora in the background. She's a singer/songwriter and formerly in-house producer for Big Hit. She's recently released (November) a solo debut in her own right. (sorry just saw someone else already said this - will save any further comment till end of reaction which I adore every time btw)

SeaLights

You HAVE to react to Epiphany live! Jin will absolutely blow you away! Here is a link to it live: https://youtu.be/Da7jaKOD_xs

MJ

The next album needs to be “You never walk alone”, it’s (also) one of my favourite BTS albums - it includes all the songs from WINGS plus a couple new ones, so you can do that one and skip WINGS if you want!

CC

RM is my bias and a lil thing that i want to point out is that the lyrics for Trivia: Love are so beautifully complex and i suggest that you check it out on doolset cuz one of my favorite things that RM does in the song is the separation of the letters PQRST when he says the alphabets between I and U because in medical terms, in an electrocardiogram, the different stages of a hearbeat are labelled PQRST. Which is a further callback to a previous lyric in the song where he says 'before i knew you, my heart was filled with straight lines only' ,alluding to how the ecg shows a flatline when your heart isnt beating. Essentially, my boy said that you are the reason i am alive so cleverly and beautifully :")

Bee

I love the way you really delve into the lyrics and the meanings of the songs. I hope you read doolset’s translation of Trivia: Love too, because his lyricism is even deeper than everything you caught: in Korean the word for love (sarang 사랑) and person (saram 사람) sound very similar, the only difference is the box shape of m ㅁ has been rounded out to make ng ㅇ- which is literally what he is saying “before you, I was only straight lines but you eroded my edges and turned me into love”. So so deep and beautiful! Also, Serendipity and Epiphany both have slightly longer versions on the actual albums which are gorgeous. In general, all these songs have amazing live performances. I recommend the ones from the “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” Tour in 2019, and the BTS week on Jimmy Fallon in 2020 <3

CC

Stayed up just to watch this. It was absolutely delightful. As soon as you started the Love Yourself trilogy, I tweeted out saying how much I'd been anticipating your reaction to Trivia: Love. It was everything I'd imagined and more <3

Bee

hello! i’ve been loving your bts reactions because it’s so interesting to see someone discover them “blind”. i feel like most people would get hooked on their performances first and treat their music (ie b-sides) and lyrics as a bonus, so i really really appreciate the way you have gone about it! some of these songs will shine even more if you ever get into watching mvs/live performances/storyline stuff, but the great thing about bts is that you can stick to only one aspect of them and get so much substance anyway. it’s so hard to pick favourites when, as you say, there is always something new to appreciate about each song (and album!), but euphoria and epiphany are definitely in my top 10 (probably top 5) as well :> i really love the way you break down your reactions and how you talk about how different parts make you feel - i too listen mostly with my heart! i really appreciated this whole reaction series <3 thank you <33

keytar

Hi, how are you? I'll start with an apologize, bc english isn't my first language, but i want to contribute with this comentary. I love your reactions, so please keep with them. You are very true about the feelings e I can empatizar. That been said, let's go. > About Trivia - Love: My advice it's to watch an explained video bc the liric of this song is AMAZING and only can be trully interpreted by someone that understand korean. It has a lot of doubles and puns. I recommend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arKHrnBsr-k It's a bit long, so maybe you don't want to react in video, but if you do react, please let us know about :D > About Epiphany: The video that you react isn't the entire song. It was an "teaser" for the album. So, please go check out on spotify or the lyric video. > About Idol, just to contextualize: People began to believe that BTS were becoming to westernized. So they released Idol, to show that their Korean roots are as strong as ever. The instrumental, onomatopoeia, costumes and lyrics bring a lot of Korea culture.

Camilla Pequim

I hope you noticed that the line was "SCARS from my mistakes form castellation" not sTar 😅 but it is even more beautiful, your scars are your castellations like a map of you soul

Oleksandra Yakubenko

Wow, finally the last part of the Love Yourself trilogy. Loved your reaction. About Idol, that song has a way more profund meaning that can be lost if you are not aware of a lot of things about BTS. This song, like some other all over their discography, is one of those that really REALLY need of some explanation to really complete understand them, specially for non korean people, because there are a lot of cultural references in it. I would totally recomend you to watch on youtube an explanation video by DKDKTV, and if you could react to that, I would love to watch it :). Here the link: https://youtu.be/IL7PEjk1pys Also, after finishing the series, it would also be great to see you react to their Love Yourself Tour concert. It's absolutely amazing. The one I like the most is the concert they did in Brazil. Audience there was crazy and gave the concert an incredible vibe. You can watch it here: https://www2.dramacool.sk/drama-detail/bts-world-tour-love-yourself-speak-yourself-sao-paulo the whole concert is in the first two parts. Thank you so much ,and waiting for more!!! :)

Borahekore

Love your reactions as always my guy. Looking forward to many others (especially the most beautiful moment in life series) :))

Lau

epiphany live hits different </3

snack

First of all, I'm gonna add up to things I didn't find in the comments of my fellow armys above The text that was shown at the end of Epiphany reads: "to come to the end of the process of finding one's self means to return to the starting point, what must be discovered in the end is the beginning of everything, the milestone, the map of the soul although a part of everyone, it is not discovered by anyone, I will try to find it, starting now..." I know.. it hits home Also no that wasn't a ford commercial 😂 the truck is connected to BU (Bangtan Universe) a whole nother rabbithole to discover (we'll leave that for another day) but you will encounter that truck so many times once you do the The Most Beautiful Moment in Life albums (and MVs) This trilogy we call HYYH for short, it's basically the initials of the korean title of the series. One more thing, HYYH also has the song Save Me, which is the twin song of I'm Fine, lit same lyrics but bottom to top and opposite meaning in some verses.. it's mindblowing but we'll get to that next year I guess 😂 The entire Love Yourself Series is honestly a whole different experience live, so you do need to check the live versions of these songs.. when you think it can't get any better, it actually does lmao, as well as some of the MVs you missed (imo) their MVs are also greatness overload Not to mention (and you were right) Idol is the ultimate live song, especially with choreo, that song now feels normal and sounds amazing to me but I would lie if I said I loved it when it first came out, but just know that what they did with Idol sound and MV -wise was on purpose + the cultural references game is crazy here Okay so You Never Walk Alone should be up next yeah although it has songs from Wings but it's okay, you get the full package and we're here for it hehe Please make sure to either watch all MVs for this one (the songs that do have mvs) or do lyric videos then MVs as u like, there's so much to explore, even solo songs have short movies and it's just a can't-miss Tho I will say I really like your audio-only reactions, I got into bts that way myself back in 2014 and I listened to the entire Skool Trilogy blindly, it was an amazing experience and that's probably why I especially like ur approach to their music, tho MVs can't be missed like I said but it's fine if you do it right after .. I especially love how much you appreciate them, the music, the vocals, the rap cadences, the lyricism and even the adlibs. Respect. And how you try to pay attention to everything Thank you so so much for that! We know it's not easy and most of us probably had at least 3 first listens trying to grasp everything lmao Anyway I hope u have a great day and I'm looking forward impatiently for what's up to come 💜

Kyoko⁷

A moment of silence… its the first time Begg sees the bighit intro

Fabiana Souza

Hey! have you ever thought about watching more musicals on disney+ like Camp Rock, Lemonade Mouth, Let it Shine, don't even have to me musicals I really would like for you to watch Big Shot the new disney+ show same for the remake of Mighty Ducks

Amir Jackson

Once you do adjust to it and have an expectations to how hype it is you will probably love it more and more.

Booryanne

If i am not mistaken on Trivia Seesaw back vocals is of their former producer Adora - she recently left their label to join another to begin solo career

Oleksandra Yakubenko

I understand having to adjust to Idol. It's a lot when you first hear it hahaha. But I hiiiiighly suggest watching their live performance to this song. I think it will make the song click for you.

Booryanne

I agree....let's just do a concert watch along....they are so amazing on stage 💜

Disha

Ah....I wish u had done the Epiphany lyric video cause that has the full song...the video has a shorter version....but u could do the live performance (there are ones with subs on YouTube) and that has the full song and that note that u love Live. Also most of the times when u hear a female vocal in the background of BTS songs its usually Adora (for their solo tracks)...their in house producer. She also recently made her debut as a idol. Trivia is connected on some deep levels but on the simplest they are sort of like a story line Just Dance (meeting and having fun) -> Love (being in love) -> Seesaw (falling apart). "I'm Fine" like people have pointed is connected to their other song "Save Me" both in production and also some lyricism. Also as part of the BU the sign save me comes up a lot and it's written I a way I which when u turn it upside down the save me spells I'm fine. Answer: Love Myself is really one of my favourite song it really has brought me so much comfort since the pandemic started. Would recommend checking another translation for the song. It was not so much wrong but more incomplete in parts. Yeah next (or I guess the previous one) is You Never Walk Alone... it is the repackaged version of the Wings album with a couple extra tracks so u can just do that one. It is AMAZING!!!! Mikrokosms - what can I even say about this song? It is amazing live. Because of the themes in the song when BTS perform it in front of just a sea of fans with their light sticks (ARMY Bombs) it just looks so gorgeous. And they have performed pre-recorded versions of this song a bit during the pandemic but they pulled it out on the final day of their 4 day LA show run that just happened and I was literally just watching its broadcast and bawling my eyes out because it looked so beautiful. Well they pulled both Home and Mikrokosmos out...Home I was jamming...Mikrokosmos...Bawling I honestly love ur reactions so much....the amount of attention u pay to the songs and how u appreciate the hard work and the lyricism. 💜

Disha

I love your reactios Michael and to think that you are only in the surface of BTS .. Omg. I can't wait to hear your thoughts for Wings and RM's MONO mixtape.

Amanda Vicente

no but i've been waiting for this reaction just to comment on the Trivia: Love verse "i'm just a person but you erode all my edges and turned me into love" because in korean, person is 사람 and love is 사랑 so it literally means to erode the edges of ㅁ and turn it into ㅇand that's the most genius thing i've ever seen in songwriting

Giu Bressani

You need to see all these songs live please. I think you are ready to watch the Love Yourself concert, especially the one in Wembley if one of my favs concerts ever. If you can react sometime to one of their concert it would be the best thing in the world.

Claudia

RM is even more genius in Trivia Love. Love and People sound and write similar in korean. Love - saran 사랑, people (person) - saram 사람. You noticed , right? Love with "ㅇ" and person with "ㅁ" .RM says - you erode my corners and turn into love, so they turn ㅁ into ㅇ - erode corners and turn person into love. So he basically use shape of the letters of korean alphabet to deliver message!!! Also, you noticed how he said "pqrst" after pause? It's because pqrst are the waves on EKG heart diagram. I am so happy to live at the same time and witness his genius 😭

Oleksandra Yakubenko

ahh i fixed it before i saw your comment. so tempted to add super tuna lmao

If your head hurts from your initial listen to RM's Trivia: Love, just wait until you go read DoolSet's lyric translations and her additional Korean explanations on this song. RM's way of playing with English (+ its written language) is almost no match for what he did in Korean and its written language. Absolutely, one of my favorite songs he's ever created to this day! The respect I have for this man.

thank you for the video, you're so respectful and enjoyable to listen to! if you want to continue on you could do you never walk alone and skip wings since YNWA is a repack and has all the wings songs + a couple new ones! if i could possibly request for you to watch the mv for spring day on YNWA, it's probably bts' most well regarded mv and a lot of armys have immense love for it :) I hope you have a great week!

yesss, as well as his ost 'Yours' that came out recently

Euphoria and Epiphany (& Spring Day) are my favourite BTS songs in their entire discography so I'm so glad you loved them. And as a Jin bias I love seeing him get the vocal recognition he deserves, not just on a technical level but I feel like Jin always brings the emotional intensity to a song. Check out 'Tonight', 'Abyss' and 'Yours' if you have time, they are Jin solo songs that aren't on any official albums.

Vanessa

our impatience is just because you are amazing hauhauahaua loveeeeee it ❤️❤️❤️

just some info on 'I'm Fine'. The instrumental at the beginning is the same one from an earlier song of theirs called 'Save Me' and in the 'fake love' video, the words 'save me' are on a wall or something and when the word are flipped upside down, it says 'I'm Fine'. So it kind gives away that the songs are connected.

Hi Michael, great reaction! I don’t know if you know this but the context behind Idol is that people began to believe that BTS were becoming to westernized. So they released Idol, to show that their Korean roots are as strong as ever. The music video particularly gets this across. Also Epiphany is a part of their storyline which is why it probably didn’t make a whole lot of sense to you. The song itself is pretty clear though lol.

Similarly check out j-hopes: just dance live! try the stage mixes from channel 'brilliant'. They do the best seamless edits of a bunch of shows combined for each bts song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su--AKZRZIg&ab_channel=Brilliant

Vanessa

if u do want to watch it this video is the best quality from what I've seen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC_KsEiurvE

hannah

unfortunately not :( however I can confidently say it is one of my favourite performances (not just from bts) ever! even if its just Jungkook. when you watch it you'll understand, I want to talk about it but I don't want to spoil anything lol 😅

hannah

Vanessa

Thank you for the reaction! I hope you didn’t feel too pressured to release it quickly! I know people can get pretty impatient but in reality we just want you to genuinely enjoy yourself, feel the music, connect with the lyrics and just have an amazing experience getting to know BTS! ☺️
