Loved watching it with you and watching you react to it, of course there are some things like you said can't do or say now, things have change, but even without those, it's such a great movie! For me I think is Love actually, The holiday, 10 things I hate about you, Valentine's day,, The proposal, hitch.. There's just so many!!

Love this movie and of course I have to give Aussie shout outs to Heath Ledger (his death was such a tragic loss) and one of the songs on the soundtrack from Aussie band Spiderbait which you were enjoying around the 14 min mark. Would definitely recommend a few of his movies to watch in your own time - "Two Hands", "The Dark Knight", "Brokeback Mountain" , "A Knight's Tale".

2022-02-16 04:44:04 +0000 UTCI love this movie! It struck me that even though this is a 90's movie made in the Tacoma/Seattle area, they do not lean into the Seattle sound. No Nirvana, no Pearl Jam, no Soundgarden, no Sonic Youth. I didn't even see any posters on Kat's wall from these bands. This movie was made in '99, so maybe it is a bit late for those bands. Someone correct me if I am wrong! The band playing at prom and on the roof is Letters to Cleo. Fans of Parks and Rec will recognize them as Ben's favorite band. I love that the movie leans into its Shakespearean roots. Lines like "I burn, I pine" sound completely natural when the cast is so talented. She doesn't have much screen time, but I love Allison Janney as Ms. Perky! At the beginning of the movie, she calls Heath Leger "Kangaroo Boy" to explain his accent right away. You missed one of the best jokes when you were looking up Heath Leger. JGL says "WE'RE SCREWED!" I recommend a Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger as well. They made unusual music choices for a film set in Mediaeval times, but it works really well!

2022-02-15 16:39:20 +0000 UTCWe read and watched Taming of the Shrew sophomore year in high school. The plot really is the same! The movie version we watched was with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. :) The musical Kiss Me Kate, which has Cole Porter songs, is also based on Taming of the Shrew!

Believe me we‘re all charmed by him just like you got! Since Crazy Rich Asians was only a tiny bit behind, I hope maybe in the Future if you‘re considering doing another movie it could be this one but I was so happy with todays video, thank you❤️❤️

I’m not ashamed to say I still have a crush on 10 Things JGL, so freaking cute I can’t stand it! Lastly, as you touched on the soundtrack is just iconic, I don’t think they could have done a better job capturing the feel of the movie with the music. Cruel to be Kind is still on rotation every once in awhile in my house. 🤣

2022-02-15 05:05:39 +0000 UTCIt took me forever to get home to be able to watch this, but it was worth the wait. I absolutely love this movie. I’ve probably seen this like 50 times. It’s one of my favorites out of any genre, not just romantic comedies. I think it’s one of the best adaptations of Shakespeare. It keeps the spirit of the original alive while being it’s own thing. I still remember going to see this in a theater with my older brother and his girlfriend when it came out. I think I was like ten and I probably shouldn’t have been allowed to see it that young, but I was a huge fan of the girl who plays Bianca. She was the lead in a sci-fi Nickelodeon show in the 90s called The Secret World of Alex Mack that I was kind of obsessed with. I’m so glad you did this. It was a great way to end the day.

I haven't watched it from the beginning in SO LONG so I loved being able to watch it, as well question how my sister (who is 10 years older than me) got away with letting me watch this with her, when we were younger, with that beginning LOL and some of the other jokes that were played out in the movie. Then again, she did have other movies that I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have watched at age seven but anyways. So you mentioned the things that you have seen Julia Stiles in. Are you saying you never saw Prince & Me???? That's another great movie with her. OH and if you loved seeing JGL in this movie, you should check out the few episodes he was in on Roseanne (he was very young and adorable lol). Also, I don't know if you noticed but his friend in the movie "Michael" is also Bernard from The Santa Clause & The Santa Clause 2. That always blew my mind. Also, it was always hard at times to watch Andrew Keegan (Joey) as this character because I loved him as Wilson in 7th Heaven. Completely different character. Watching this movie always made me curious at the things we missed out with Heath Ledger being gone. Just imagine some of the movies he could've made even better if he was the actor in it or in any of the future movies he could've been in. He's so good. I'm glad you got to watch him in this. And enjoy a 90s iconic movie :)

Love him and let’s not forget Julia Stiles guys she is not only a phenomenal actress but also a phenomenal dancer. We should check out the movie Save The Last Dance! I actually watched this in high school English class, I'm surprised they got away with it (I guess 2007 was a different time, lol). If you didn't know this is a loose adaptation of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, a lot of the characters names are references to the original play.
