Also, the artist who you were trying to remember the name of, the one who wrote River (which Olivia sang in the HSMTMTS Holiday Special), is Joni Mitchell. In my opinion, she is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. She's 78 now. I would be thrilled if you reacted to some of her songs or an album - the album Blue would be a great one to do. As Joni Mitchell's Wikipedia says, "Her 1971 album Blue is often cited as one of the best albums of all time; it was rated the 30th best album ever made in Rolling Stone's 2003 list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time", rising to number 3 in the 2020 edition." She wrote every song on that album by herself (including River). The album is only 36 minutes long :) Also, Joni Mitchell is one of Taylor Swift's influences and I know you're a Swiftie. From Taylor's Wiki: "As a songwriter, Swift was influenced by Joni Mitchell, citing especially how Mitchell's autobiographical lyrics convey the deepest emotions; 'I think [Blue] is my favorite because it explores somebody's soul so deeply.'" I guess this is me starting the campaign for you to listen to Blue by Joni Mitchell 😂

Also, Pretender was posted in 2018, when she was 15. So you're right in guessing it was a bit ago before her vocal skills improved even more. "I created you to be plastic and deadly" is a hell of a line 🤯

Soren

I have been watching her unreleased songs again and I just found out she wrote Naive Girl when she was 12-13 years old which BLOWS MY MIND. I wanted to share this with you in case you hadn't heard this, Beveraggi. She is definitely a generational talent. Profoundly gifted. I'm so glad she was on HSMTMTS so I found out about her existence & I'm so glad drivers license blew up so everyone else did too.

Soren

I think pretender was one of her early ones. like 15 or 14 years old

Hi Michael, sorry I know I'm late but I had to comment to express my pure excitement when I saw that you had posted this reaction! I love Olivia and I'm so glad I get to share that love with you :) the new arrangements in the doc were amazing, I particularly like favorite crime and good 4 u. And I'm yours is also one of my faves from the unreleased - so glad you enjoyed them :)

Emma

SO GOOD. The good for u one is living in my head rent free

Yeah as much as I LOVED LOVED this I want her to grow through the Disney phase for her next era. Get it with the HSTM attachment and everything though. Hopefully that can be a separate thing in the future & we can enjoy the show & her smaller part in it & her music as a side unrelated piece

Michael Beveraggi

So happy to have you here & that you’ve been supporting for so long Mia. I appreciate you ♥️♥️ so much love right back!!

Michael Beveraggi

Yeah can definitely get wanting to move on past an era of life! Just means even better is to come. STUCK IN OUR HEADS is damn right!!

Michael Beveraggi

Love love love that line. I think I might’ve slept on that one out of all of them, but it might be the most clever out of them all

Michael Beveraggi

Sour definitely didn’t showcase her ability on the vocal runs! Completely agree. Loved seeing that in here & just makes me that much more excited for whatever she does next. Also def would’ve been nice if it was in chrono order, thankfully you could kinda tell a little bit! Def caught some of the sour vibes lyrically

Michael Beveraggi

Incredible choices Laura. Thanks for the link!

Michael Beveraggi

the first time I watched this my first thought was "Beveraggi is going to lose his mind over these arrangements" hahaha

Gracie

You should definitely check out her cover of look what you made me do and her cover for the HSMTMTS cover challenge (along with everyone else's) doesnt have to be for a video, I just think you'd enjoy them :)

macri parada

Could u please listen to her cover of creep I promise it will blow you away!!

Alphonse Shehata

he has :)

Bailey

You should react to folklore long pond studio sessions on disney + !!

Georgia Gardner

About the documentary, you can tell she started to get more in depth regarding the songwriting and recording process towards the latter half of the album. It’s a shame that they weren’t able to capture the recording process for the first half because they only started to document it after DL blew up. The next documentary will definitely have more BTS footage so I’m excited for that. Hopefully not on Disney+ but I have a feeling it will be and that it’s part of her agreement to end her contract with HSMTMTS (she’s signed on until 2023 but last month it was announced as a recurring character).

Steph

omg i am beyond excited for this!!😭 i found ur channel through ur drivers license reaction on youtube (over a year ago now???) and i’ve been dying for u to check out her unreleased ever since, i’m so glad that u did!!! thank u so much for everything u do ur content truly brings me joy, sending lots of love <3

Mia

this was really nice. Love seeing the inside story about her creating these songs

Kimberly Thom

I haven’t watched the doc portion, but I’m so happy you’ve finally got a chance to listen to her unreleased. I’m Yours is on my top as well and I AGREE (although The Exception should be on top 3). Sour is amazing but I feel the vocal runs/range she has is not showcased fully compared to her unreleased (especially I’m Yours). I also want to point out the more musical-esque songs were made when she was much younger. Pretender &- Naive Girl were written at 15 (NG is the first song she ever shared on Instagram), etc. I wish the video had compiled it in chronologically because you can see when things began to “sour” for her. She was singing about love and being in love with someone and eventually began to spark more sadness and jealousy and insecurities. Another note to how her songs are so visibly personal for her.

Steph

thank you so much for this!! I love 21st century girls, white flowers, i am yours & victim so so much. was really hoping for them to be on sour but I do kinda get why she didn't include them. ALSO! sadly victim wasn't included in this vid. I hope you listen to it, it's definitely one of her best unreleased songs imo. here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKwnSeDM-1I

laura

I am yours, white flowers, apocalyptic crush are my absolute favorites. The line about tripping over boundaries in apocalyptic crush lives in my head rent free. I knew you would love I'm yours. Her on that song gives me Rnb (Jojo) vibes, her freaking voice is spectacular.

Portia Crain

sadly i don’t think any of the unreleased songs surrounding a relationship/partner will ever see the light of day which is such a shame because they’re so good, but i understand her not wanting to revisit songs she wrote prior to SOUR. gross is and will forever be constantly stuck in my head!!
