It's like the evolution of Happier than Ever. It reminds me of Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar project. Like it HIT ME, and it is one I play a lot.

I'm welcome to hearing these songs with some angry guitars. I'm glad you enjoyed her album. I've already put in a custom request for more Phoebe this month. ;-)

2022-04-17 05:56:07 +0000 UTCVronnie omg!!! i only use patreon for michael so i'm not sure how to reply directly to you but hopefully you see this!! i'm so glad. the holy indie trinity of phoebe, julien, lucy is a sacred thing loll. if you want any recs for listening to just julien though, i'd recommend her song "funeral pyre" which is in my top 3, and also "relative fiction" "appointments" and "sprained ankle" they are so superior!!! i adore her entire discography and she's an angel on earth with a pen game straight from god himself 😭 i adore how much lucy and phoebe love her, and both "graceland too" and "please stay" are super personal songs, as julien as struggles alot with her identity and substance abuse. hope you enjoy!!

2022-04-17 05:22:14 +0000 UTCi loved your reaction and everything you said. you grasp her so well which is something ALOT of people struggle with on first listen. a little bit of info, graceland too is about phoebe's boygenius bandmate and singer julien baker (who i think you might love if you ever wanted to check her out) phoebe obviously adores julien. i think everyone in the world adores julien. boygenius, their band, (who's ep you'd also love) consists of phoebe, julien, and another singer lucy dacus. lucy also has a song that's directly about julien, called "please stay" and both graceland too and please stay feature all three girl's voices on the harmonies and backing, lucy through most of graceland too, phoebe through most of please stay, with julien's angelic voice coming in at the ends. both songs are considered sisters in the "songs about julien baker universe" lol. i cant explain how revered and loved julien is by her band mates and literally everyone until you experience her for yourself, but as someone who would kiss julien's feet and considers her my jesus, i love graceland too lmaooo. i cant WAIT to see you react to stranger in the alps too!!!! phoebe is incredible i've been waiting for you to dive into her for a longgg time

2022-04-16 22:44:15 +0000 UTClove this album! few things: kyoto is about her dad, i know the end the second part mostly is basically about the apocalypse (she did a genius interview about it), the album really does grow on you even more because it's hard to understand from the first listen, lastly this is her second album her first album stranger in the alps is great too maybe a little less haunting although that's a good word to summarize her in general the theme is ghosts for the 1st and sceletons for the 2nd album. Great reaction!
