A little fun fact from the books that wasn’t mentioned specifically in the episode but still shown. Loras Tyrell (Renly’s lover) was wearing Renly’s armor, which made Stannis’ army think it was Renly’s ghost coming back for revenge, which is what made them all retreat quickly back onto their ships even though Stannis was telling them to stay. Loras’ own armor is known to be covered with flower designs, which is where he gets the name “Knight of the Flowers.” The tv show doesn’t really do the Tyrells justice in my opinion. Loras Tyrell is known as being one of the greatest swordsman in Westeros and even known to have beat Jaime Lannister in a sword fight before, making him claimed to be one of the three best swordsmen in Westeros. He was crowned with knighthood at the age of 15. The show doesn’t really show how popular and well-known Loras is. Also, interestingly enough, Renly and Loras weren’t actually ever confirmed to be lovers in the books. It was more of a rumor by everyone and there were definite hints at it, but there is never a POV from either of them so it is semi-unconfirmed. But I personally feel like G.R.R. Martin giving it the green-light in the tv show is a pretty good hint that it’s confirmed in the books as well.

It’s bringing back memories of when I watched it my first time with my friend who had seen it before and he’d watch me instead of the tv for some scenes, which I find myself doing now.

All the fire on that battlefield in kings landing brought back those memories. He is still scared of fire. That's part of the reason why he had to leave there

I’m not sure if you realized but Lord Varys is a eunuch—he was castrated as a young boy. That’s why they make all the comments about him lol. But he is known for knowing everything that goes on everywhere at all times, which is because of his “little birds”—he uses the children around the world to get information because they can easily spy and get into places. I believe that’s why Tyrion said Varys knows all the boys! :-)
