I can’t say I find stranger things scary at all, to be it’s more thrilling and suspenseful, but I love it just the same! It’s easily one of my favorite shows😄 also both Nancy and Steve are both gonna a major character arch!

it all depends on what website or platform you’re showing/putting it on. there’s ton of reactors that I’ve seen do full reactions with the show playing on the screen on patreon & it’s bcuz they put the video on websites that don’t have to deal with copyright issues like youtube does

I always do rewatches before new seasons. I have tried 3 times to do a rewatch and every time I just can't do it!! But this was so easy and enjoyable as always. I forgot how good the first season was and how young they all were. Can't wait to keep going!

So excited to rewatch with you. I was a bit worried about the scary factor for you, but I think you can handle it. I'm not sure about the Haunting of Hill House for you though. That's definitely more scary than this. I love that the Duffer Brothers pulled so many iconic 80s references into the show from music, to clothing, to details in the background. I also love the influence from movies like Stephen King's The Firestarter, Stand By Me, Goonies, ET, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. I was a kid of the 80s so I just loved it. Also, pay close attention to dialogue, song choices, and backgrounds because they do an excellent job of foreshadowing in this show.

I'm a Xennial (on the cusp of Gen X and Millennial generations.) Technically, the child characters in Stranger Things are older than me, but this show so reminds me of my childhood. The puffy jackets, the rotary phone on the wall, the soundtrack. Even the ST logo and the quality of the film makes it look like you are watching a VHS from the 80's. If you pay close attention to the logo, you might notice the little flaws on the film that make it seem more like a tape. Of course, Winona Ryder and Matthew Modine were stars in the 80's. There will be more 80's throwback casting as the series continues. ST really leans into a lot of the cliches from 80's horror and teen movies. At the pool, Steve and Nancy call each other cliches, and they are. However, the cliche in the 80's horror movie is that the randy couple that goes off to have sex gets eaten by the monster. Here, it's good-girl Barb who is attacked, breaking the stereotype.

The show takes place in the 1980s, thus all the 80s references and hairstyles and clothes. Also that man really isn't El's "papa" it's just that all the children he experiments on call him that because he is the only father figure they've known.

I am also not good with spoopy (jurassic park gave me nightmares for a week) and i watched the entire first season from behind a squishmallow with friends telling me when a jumpscare was about to happen. the first season is as scary as it gets in my opinion/experience so if you can get through it on a spooky level you should be good so excited to watch with you!
