2022-06-29 20:51:12 +0000 UTCI watched this last night in one sitting and was smiling harder and crying at times more than I have in a very long time watching a tv show. It just felt so authentic.. too many high school TV shows feel so removed because of how old the actors are but this felt real, they all did incredible portraying those real feelings and opened dialogue that needed to be opened and in such a helpful way. Loved all the characters, season 1 would have felt complete as is but so excited for season 2.

2022-06-29 16:08:57 +0000 UTCoh god that totally speaks to me, when i came out as bi to my mum she dismissed it saying she didn't care as it wasn't important and started lecturing me about getting a job (in between semesters). (still, i know others have been through much worse) so yeah it for sure healing to see good coming out experiences on screen for everyone that had a bad time. i'm so glad that a wholesome tv show was chosen when theres so much media of queer youth being miserable

2022-06-29 11:16:18 +0000 UTCI waited to watch this when I saw it on the poll because as much as I originally subscribed to REwatch something with you (Hannibal), I've come to love discovering new content through your videos, too. I loved this show! I felt like they managed to confront a lot of the very real issues while keeping the overall tone mostly heartwarming and uplifting. I certainly feel like I gave off a lot of those cartoon leaves and hearts and butterflies while watching. I also came out to my parents in high school and didn't have as positive an experience with my mom as Nick did by far, but it honestly felt very fulfilling to watch a wholly positive and accepting coming out - and also realistic! Her apology to Nick about if she ever made him feel he couldn't tell her is something my dad said almost word for word.

Which makes me think that you’d love to watch some of the bts storyline in their music videos!! Some of the work done by their music video directors lumpens is so magnificent and very movie-like so I think you’d really enjoy it. Sorry to keep promoting bts, I just love what they’ve done so much. The music videos for I need U and Run and gorgeous and have a running story

It's a little intense but for sure u should watch it

2022-06-28 20:53:00 +0000 UTCAlice oseman the author of the graphic novel of this series has serious plans to expand on Isaacs character to quote them 'BIG ASEXUAL PLANS' 😁, and the reason he isn't as fleshed out now is because he actually replaces a character that would have been difficult to incorporate because they have their own book outside heartstopper as well. As a hint TAO AND ELLES STORY ONLY GETS BETTER ❤️ heartstopper has literally changed so many lives for the better including mine, seeing wholesome rep is something that was so deeply needed for the queer community ❤️ I'm so so glad you loved it! Also I haven't seen anyone say it but if you search heartstopper playlist on Spotify there are literally official playlists Inc one with all the songs from the show 👌👌 which BTW ARE FLAWLESS YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO BABY QUEEN ESPECIALLY!!!!

It really captures the feeling of the graphic novels, while adding a few things, like more screen time for the girls. I wish there had been something like this when I was growing up figuring out I’m gay. I know there were shows like Will & Grace and Queer as Folk back then, but I was a kid when those aired, so I didn’t discover them until later. There wasn’t anything directed at people my age to show it’s okay to feel this way. Or that it’s normal. I’m so grateful that shows like this exist now for younger people to see themselves. Representation truly does matter. It can make a huge difference to someone’s life and make you feel like you’re not alone, especially if you live somewhere that you don’t see people like you often, if ever. Like I’m sad for younger me that I didn’t have anything like this, but I’m so glad others do. And representation doesn’t just matter to the people who see themselves reflected, it’s also very important for those who don’t, to teach them empathy towards people different from them.

2022-06-28 19:53:53 +0000 UTCOk I've seen it's already been mentioned that it's based on the graphic novels by Alice Oseman (they're also on webtoon and the timeline is way ahead over there) But alsoooo, there's a book (written by the same author) that follows Tori, Charlie's sister. The book is called Solitaire and if Heartstopper was adapted to the screen, I think there could be a high probability of Solitaire being adapted too.

I love this series so much and as a bisexual woman, nick nelson is in my opinion one of the best representations of being/figuring out you are bi that I have ever seen. Cried multiple times about his journey because it was so relatable. I’m glad you loved it and hope you do season 2&3 when they come out!

It is based on graphic novels by Alice Oseman (she/they). They were heavily involved in the project which is why it’s so good I think!! They are even in the scene where Charlie and Nick are on the train drawing in the seat across the aisle!! so cute!! also yes, seasons 2 and 3 were already confirmed! season 1 covers like all of book 1 and part of book 2 from the graphic novel series and there are currently 4 out, the 5th planned and being written. and if you are into the songs, there’s a whole spotify playlist called the heartstopper mixtape. there are also mixtapes for tao and elle and darcy and tara which is cute <3 and finally, yes, Yasmin Finney who plays Elle is a trans actress!! she is so talented. Everyone on the show is. Also the guy who plays Ben (Sebastian Croft) has a whole Ben Hope hate page on twitter hahaha love him.
