Okay, so the day you posted this I typed a super long comment about beauty standards in Korea but erased it because I had commented so much already. I won’t be going into so much detail to keep this short, but in Korea (I’m not sure about the rest of Asia) the beauty standards for men and women are a lot more similar than in the west. And it is just so particular even outside of weight, like the type of eye lid you have, etc. In the beginning bts wasn’t considered to visually look like an idol group because many members did not reach traditional beauty standards. Jimin has been known to struggle with this and body image in the past, in recent years he seems much more comfortable in his skin. His song promise (which is the #1 most streamed song on SoundCloud) is a song written to be a promise to himself (but also wanted it to be a ‘promise’ to army as well) which part of the emotion in it is believed to be from these experiences among other things. Rm in particular was talked about as not being considered handsome which is insane to me. When I first heard that hwasa from mamamoo wasn’t considered to be up to the beauty standards I was so shocked. I think she is so stunning.

Noah is so relaxed in her delivery, and I feel like it carries over to the listener really well. There's a lot of talent in that family, that's for sure. Avi's voice is so special, even when he's not going hard on the bass parts. I might request some of his solo stuff eventually. That whole PopSpring set was really good, but I love this evolution performance. They really know how to highlight each of the members pf the group in the best possible way. Great reactions in part 1! Excited for the rest of the month's :)

I just saw 5sos live and Take Me Hand and Me Myself and I were so unbelievably good and fun in person; they also played a new song, Blender. They also have the Andy Deluca tour videos and the 2-song Macy's 4th of July show. I hope you decide to listen to some 5sos at some more 5sos at some point! Excited to see more Maggie Rogers. Her work is amazing and always feels really unique. Rina S too, I'd love to see reactions to more of her. I listened to an interview with Keith Urban and he was incredibly thoughtful and articulate; really want to see more of him.

I just watched the rest of your reaction (other than BTS and Shinee). Joji (I had to immediately look him up and saw that his name is George and Joji is the Japanese pronounciation of George. LOL). The music reminds me of the duo 92914 (found them when Jimin posted a screenshot of their song, Okinawa - I'm from Okinawa so I had to check them out and I love their music). Mehro reminded me of James Bay and I did add a couple of songs to my library. I love the raspy voice! And speaking of great voice, I loved Noah's voice! Will be checking her out soon. It's so interesting to listen to Japanese rap - I've not heard of Chanmina but wow, she's incredible! Even when the BTS rapline raps in Japanese, it throws me for a loop. Bijin means beautiful in Japanese and I understand what you were saying about beauty standards in certain Asian countries, particularly for entertainers. It's so ingrained, particularly in older generation (I guess I'm now old too, but I mean my mother's generation, LOL). I remember my mother commenting once that I'm lucky because at least I was a good student, I should be able to make a good living in jobs that don't require me being in front of the public. She didn't mean it to offend me, but as a back-handed compliment? I enjoyed ACE very much. My daughter, who is really into K-pop didn't know about them so I will have to check them out. I do enjoy these monthly requests as I find new music. Thank you!

When I first heard Singularity, I listened to it on loop for a couple of days. V's stage prescence is something else! House of Cards is one of my favorites and the live version is sooo good. I love that their live versions are better than their recordings. I love that they are so connected to their songs, you can clearly see it in their faces. Outro Tear is the other one that I absolutely love live. BTS is acting as ambassadors to securing World Expo in Busan and they are doing a concert on October 7 and some are speculating that the concert may be broadcasted live? I recently sent my son BTS's Cypher Pt 3 and 4 and Ugh and he couldn't believe how good they were. It's not easy to impress him. LOL JHope mentioned KAWS in Airplane. JHope worked with Kaws on the cover art for Jack In The Box. I'm really excited that his album is dropping next week! BTS on a break is crazy! They are dropping content like crazy. I watched V's Vlog this morning and every Saturday, a new member will post his Vlog. V is starting In The Soop with his actor friends and the show will drop the end of July and I believe it will be shown on Disney + On Twitter, there is someone named Collin who tweets translated lyrics. I love that he interprets the lyrics and explains the cultural context. He may start his own blog, like Doolset. I hope you will watch the three sets of Comeback shows either as a reaction or on your own. In particular, I loved the Mnet performance for Yet To Come because Suga plays piano for the introduction! I've only seen one other performance when he plays the piano and I love it. I hope he does more of this for his solo album. I'm balling after Shinee. Their Japanese ballads are so very good and this song, wow. They are such good vocalists, and I love Onew.

Having CHANMINA followed by Cypher Pt 4. Whew. It's reminded me how powerful and genius good rappers are, and how they can use their platforms for real, real conversations and for social change. (Side note: my favorite version of Best Friend by Saweetie features CHANMINA). j-hope's affinity for airplanes and flight shows up so frequently in lyrics, in choreo, in MV and concert props, in other content (no In the Soop spoilers in case you watch the series). He's an artist that I can *feel* carries every experience in his life with him to where he is right now. The way he can continue having a boyish wonder and joy about life and still be so driven and dreaming, despite everything, is so inspiring. I can't wait for the Jack in the Box album, too. He's already said it will be a story.

- BTS Singularity is one of my favorite songs from them and I genuinely forgot to breathe when I saw it live. His voice puts me in a melted shocked state and the facial expressions are just SO good. - Love is not Over live is also an amazing moment. Their vocals are great and full of emotion and damnm I love their old ballads so much. - For accurate lyrics, I'd recommend to check Doolset website. It is not a lyric video but it has the best translations and provides some insight in regards of Cultural references etc. There are some channels that upload ok lyric videos but it is always safe to go to doolset for it - House of Cards live is ALWAYS incredible. Such an amazing song, intense emotions, argh sooooooo good.It is one of my favorite songs as well. - Cypher 4 is a great showcase of the rap line talent. Great hype song, and creating a diss track that in the end wish the haters to be healthy is iconic haha I don't know which Cypher I love the most but I'm torn between Cypher 2 and 3. - Airplane is such a good and chill song. You may recognize the second verse is the same present in Airplane part 2 (latin influenced song from BTS from Love Yourself Tear). And Gwangju is actually J Hope hometown. And yes, Hobi is the swag king. - I'm so glad you checked A.C.E. They are such a great and underestimated group, very good vocals, dance, everything. I wish more people would recognize how talented they are.

My very first tattoo was for Jonghyun. So was my second. I know that this video hurt, but I think it's an important part of their story. SHINee will always be five and the love they have for one another will always shine through (pun not intended, but embraced). The group almost disbanded when this happened. But Jonghyun's mother asked them to carry on and keep his legacy alive. There is a Shiny Foundation that was formed by his family to honor Jonghyun and support mental health which his brothers in SHINee participate in every single year. evolution of mj was a concert staple for pentatonix for years!! watching that live performance with you brought me back to the early shows i went to when they performed it and hit me with a wave of nostalgia!! evolution of music is the video that got me into ptx! they essentially go from a song in the 11th century to the 1600s to the 1800s to songs from the 1910s-2010s but yes evolution of rihanna is a MUST i listened to that on repeat for weeks when it first came out hahahaha and finally superfruit is comprised of scott & mitch!

about airplane, the way i interpreted it (a lot of people seemed to think this too), is the necklace symbolizes his dreams and him holding onto it in the beginning (when he was talking about his dreams when he was younger) meant him holding onto his dreams. he only lets go of the dreams (the necklace) in the end when he has finally achieved said goals and dreams. :)
