BLACKPINK - Born Pink | Full Album Reaction

Album Reactions backkkkk I MISS these

BLACKPINK - Born Pink | Full Album Reaction

Comments

Jisoo is coming out with a solo in like two weeks! I really hope you react to that. She’s the only BP member to not have a solo yet, but that’s not bc of her lack of talent. Its about what their entertainment company lets them do. They have a strict contract

Teri

Yesss I love Jennie's singing voice too! Hers and Rose's are my favourite! If you ever react to their other songs, you'll get to hear her sing a lot more. She has always done both rapping and singing (she's main rapper, lead vocal) but the past few years it seemed like she leaned more towards singing and wasn't given as many rap parts, so fans kept asking to bring rapper Jennie back which they did with this album. She's so good at both xD

Alanna M

I hope you dive into their discography more. They only have around 28 songs, so I don't think it would be that much. I am curious about your take on their previous works and their group dynamic in general.

BEAMLAK MEKURIA

you should totally react to blackpink's documentary on netflix if you haven't seen it, it's really good!!

Taylor

you should react to twice’s new album “between 1&2” !! it’s just a mini album but it encapsulates twice’s classic and newer sounds so i think it’s a great way to start getting to know them :>

ann

Btw the only song they helped write on here was : yeah yeah yeah

Suga.Just. Became.Salty.

Kayla I'm sorry but what you're saying is not true. they're not involved in 98% of the creation. there's some songs they helped write, like lovesick girls, yeah yeah yeah. rose wrote her solos but there's an interview with them on a podcast (zach sang show) where they say they don't write, that they sit on the couch waiting for their team to produce and write for them. these were their words. I'm not making this up, you can look it up for yourself. even in the documentary rose talks about how she likes to write in her notebooks but she is a little insecure to record them. there are some songs, if I'm not mistaken, there are about 5 songs in total that the girls got involved, because the rest is teddy who writes

moon

yeah at first i wasn't a fan of pink venom but eventually i loved it. they make catchy music. i go through phases where i'm disappointed with the music they put out bc i think they can do much better but then i end up really like the songs they put out for the most part. i do want a switch up for their next music release maybe not so edm/big production focused.

Kayla

this is false. ryan tedder himself has spoken about how involved the girls are involved when they make music and write but of course those songs aren't released.

Kayla

You should react to Demi Lovato’s new Rock album “Holy Fuck”!!

Ally D.

Oh, also it'd be cool if you'd react to some of their live performances after you do the album and music videos.

BEAMLAK MEKURIA

Hi This is a dance video of blackpink dancing to pink venom!! is show how good dancer are!! https://youtu.be/RFMi3v0TXP8

Magdalena Eriksson

that’s true, the girls are talented, specially rose, you can see that she really likes music, but still they don’t make music themselves :/ rose only have 2 solos but a least she wrote them. i wish they were involved, i wanted to see how would they be as true artists that create their own art, i’m sure that it would be so much better than this. i wish better for them, i really do

moon

I agree. I really hope the girls will leave YG (they are so talented). To compare, BTS released more songs in their first year (which you still haven't reacted to ☹️) than BP in their entire career.

asiaha78

I really like Blackpink, but for me this album it's not their best, I didn't enjoyed it so much like the others. There are somo songs i liked of course (Pink venom, Shut down, Hard to love, the happiest girl) but I think if you're up for it, you should check out their previous stuff, THE ALBUM, and the EPS BLACKPINK, SQUARE ONE, SQUARE TWO, SQUARE UP (The EPs are really short so it's easy to listen to the three of them in one sitting), And the singles Kill this love, Kiss and make up (with dua lipa), Sour candy (with lady gaga). Also I think you would like to watch their music videos are so incredible! The production is unreal they're so artistic, beautiful, full of symbolism and color. My favorite is Jennie by far, from her rapping to her singing, and just here attitude. I really appreciate you honest reactions! :)

Talía Caraveo

I haven’t listened to the album so I’m glad I got to listen to this with you. I know my students who listen to any K-pop love BP. They are all talented but I just don’t connect to their music. I do enjoy Mamamoo and IU. It’s always fun to listen to new music. Thank you.

Yukari

oh i thought it was jennie and jisoo, thank u fo correcting me

moon

I really like them but haven't been a fan of their music BUT this album is an amazing Improvement from their last album. For me you can feel how the members were more involved in the process of making this album. It just feels more personal in a lot of ways I feel like I know them better after this album and now I feel like I can actually be a fan of their music. Don’t get me wrong they had bops like kill this love is a bop. Also this had more western influences in a good way, like now i can set them apart from all other kpop girl groups. I feel like their sound is more recognizable. Hope we can see more from them and and that they’re given even more artistic freedom because that’s when they shine,

Dandy Welosky

Jisoo & Rosé in yeah yeah

BEAMLAK MEKURIA

thank u <3 I will definitely check them

moon

STOP IT. TELL THEM TO CALM DOWN. THEY WERE GOING AFTER ME. GOD DAMN. BYE.

Richard

ooh hard to choose but i think my favourites on the album would be 29, freak, substance, eat me and city of angels!

luviemoo

please calm down and just stop the conversation if you dont want to keep it going. seriously take a breather and maybe think if this is really worth getting this worked up about we all have things we get overly passionate about so i can understand but sometimes the easiest way to sort it out (especially over the internet) is just to take a step back and focus on something else /gen

luviemoo

So you are saying that everyone has to be all PC. GO AWAY. QUIT ATTACKING ME. They were doing it first and i am the bad guy. I was respecting both artists. I said I liked this album of BP. I like some songs of BTS. OH MY GOD this army is horrible to people.

Richard

Bruh, you can’t just cry bully when people respond. Like don’t comment if you don’t wanna open a dialogue. Everyone is keeping it respectful.

Ursula

please listen to g-idle 😭 they are the best girl group, they write and produce their own music, they released their first full album this year, and they will release their 5th mini album on october 17 but first i recommend this songs, and the mvs, they are so good: * oh my god * lion * hwaa

moon

can u recommend me your favorite songs?

moon

you guys said everything. there’s nothing to compare, bts writes and produces their music since their debut, namjoon has more than 190 song writhing credits, and every album talks about some different theme, important themes, their lyricisms has so many layers, unfortunately if you don’t go to doolset you lose a lot of it, namjoon is called the wizard of music for a reason. bapsae that is a bop but also one of the greatest songs about social economic injustice, was studied in Harvard. i have nothing against blackpink, but i hate the way their fans try to put them in the same place as bts. and like nicki minaj said once, “rappers write their raps”. and also they are so many talented groups, like gidle, soyeon is a true rapper, she writes and produces since day one, their songs are amazing, but since they are not from big3, they don’t have the same privileges

moon

they are not restricted, rose wrote her solos, jisoo and rose helped in yeah yeah yeah… yg is a shitty company for sure, but the girls are not involved because they don’t want to.

moon

I love all the songs but hard to love is my fave.

Megan Wall

some infos: you asked who produces, teddy writes and produces almost every blackpink song, the girls unfortunately are not involved in the creation, if i’m not mistaken jisoo and rose helped in yeah yeah yeah, many fans say that yg doesn’t let them write, but that’s not true, since rose wrote her solos, and jennie also wrote her solo song. the happiest girl is a cover. personally i didn’t liked this album as a whole. but happiest girl and hard to love i really liked it. i’m not a blackpink fan but i’m not an anti either, i like the girls but i’m telling you this because i know you like to see things deep. and also you liked jennie’s singing, then check their 1rst album, jennie sings the most there, she’s the main rapper and lead vocalist

moon

Go away and quit bullying me. I am respecting both artists. Can't say anything anywhere anytime anymore. I was replying to the other person. People quit ganging up on me. I am paying 20.00 and I get this garbage! I am very sad right now.

Richard

I only see respectfull opinions, im a blink and i can see their point of view. Why bring others fandom to this. Im tired of the obsession that almost every person have with army and bts, this is not about that. Respect both artists

Jessie

omg this is so exciting it’d be cool if u could check out some of their music videos they’re insane!! also like some comments have already said their documentary on netflix light up the sky is a great watch to get to know the girls and their journeys better!!

Mia

Because they are usually toxic. I guess you didn't read the comments. Just go away, I don't need any bullying anymore. I just stated my opinion and I even said I liked BP.

Richard

There's not really any hate in the comments and most of the comments are so knowledgeable of BP that it's very obvious that they're BP fans. /why/ are army somehow to blame even with this??

LondonNicole

Wow all the hate in these comments with Blackpink. I thought this album was really good and I don't like this kind of music too much. I think a lot of these people are BTS army who want to put down them. At least I can hear their voices more in the songs more than other kpop artists. Be more positive people.

Richard

I agree - the biggest issue I have with Blackpink (not the individual people in the group, but the brand and output of the group) is that they are always called "the girl group version of BTS" when frankly, they represent the quintessential idol archetype and BTS do not. I don't deny their talent nor judge their disinterest in expressing their talent, but it's just sad when you're supposed to compare the two groups and Blackpink doesn't match up in substance. Of course, that's a lot of how the group was formed. A lot of money and power went into promoting the girls, and while that isn't necessarily wrong, it's just really disappointing that YG doesn't even care to try to veil that the group has been distilled to cash cows. I honestly don't blame the members for taking this route either. If you had to choose between BTS's grueling schedule and (at this point) Blackpink's "influencer" schedule, it's easy to see why things go the way they do.

Soeun Park

Overall, I'm very proud of my girls. They're all crazy talented, with the da cing, singing, and rapping.

Caroline

Not to forget this album is called Born Pink, so having sweeter and lyrically touching songs, with some hype songs is a great mixture. What I'm expecting next is Born Black album, with the bad bitch energy, something like Pretty Savage from THE ALBUM, all over the place.

Caroline

Born Pink is really something new from them, which I'm very happy about. Fans were complaining after Pink Venom, that the song is still in the same formula. But Shut Down proved that they can do hype songs without any crazy final dance break, etc. Everytime they have a comeback (even if it takes 2 years) They are better at everything. You can see, they put so much effort into what they do and they wanna get better and better.

Caroline

If I'm being honest, I just don't get it. They have such a tiny discography for their long career and it's got so little range. And they don't contribute to it at all. I think a credit here or there for a couple of them for a line or two. I think the rappers accents when they rap are a little problematic (like in an Iggy kind-of-way). And the brand of "girl boss" that's like "I'm better than other girls" is just not my cup of tea. Idk...I just think kpop has a lot of talented artists and blackpink exemplifies all of the negative stereotypes the west hears about kpop. Manufactured, all flash no substance, no creative control...it's a shame. And the project was underwhelming given how big their company has tried to push it. If you use the phrase "bigger than BTS," and "never before seen in kpop" you've just got to deliver something more.

SNBangtan

A big disappointment after 2 long years.

Les

Blackpink was my entry into k-pop, so they will always hold a special place in my heart, but I haven't had the desire to listen to them in a while, compared to other artists. So I wasn't expecting much off this album, but was happily surprised by a couple of the tracks! Thanks for listening to them.

Lisa Reid (Sophrishea)

Blackpink is a very talented group. I really hope they don’t renew their contract with YG because they have the potential. But I do like their old songs more, and their mv’s are crazy.

Hailey Lee

I think you should check out their documentary "Light Up the Sky" on Netflix to learn more about them as a group and individually. I am a huge Little Mix fan, and I was hesitant to get into Blackpink because of the obvious music genre difference. They are most definitely talented, and I recommend exploring their discography as a group and solo.

BEAMLAK MEKURIA

Do you think you would ever react to Maggie Lindemann? She just released her debut pop/rock album and I think it would be so interesting to see you digest it lol

Jade Hunter

When I think of Blackpink I think of unfulfilled potential. I think the members are very talented, but at this point, 6 years into their 7 year contract, the output has been disappointingly minimal and redundant. My personal perception is they are just kind of over it and are content to ride out their contract by being social media/fashion influencers instead of musicians. They can be great performers…if they feel like it that day. Their performances can be very hit or miss. I’m totally fine with the very very low level of their personal input on group songs, but in return I expect that to be countered by consistently amazing live performances, and that’s just not the case. “And this was them talking their shit again.” - This is my main problem with this album. A “we’re badass bitches” song is fun, and they do them well. But at this point it’s gotten old. The last few title tracks have all been about the same thing, “we’re not typical girls, we’re different, we’re badass”. Supported by vapid lyrics and redundant production themes, the tracks are just a big disservice to the members and fans. I’d give this album a 5.5/10. Shut Down and Typa Girl are catchy and can be fun to listen to. I think Rosé sounds great on Hard to Love, which is by far my favorite track. I liked the instrumental on Yeah Yeah Yeah, but the vocals just didn’t pair well. Not every song needs to have deep, meaningful lyrics, but it would be nice to see some more lyrical depth. With two years since the last album I just expected more innovation and creativity. And more tracks. I’m curious to see what the girls will do after their contract expiration (or if some/all of them will renew their contracts). I would personally enjoy solo work from Rosé as I really like her voice. I don’t get the vibe that the other girls are super passionate about pursuing music (maybe Lisa?). Which is totally fine. What you want to do at 18/19/20 years old can be a lot different by the time you’re in your mid to late twenties. They have a lot of doors open to them and I could see a couple of them choosing different artistic paths and excelling, because they are talented.

EB

Excited you got to listen to some Blackpink, I also really love their energy and confidence, and the fact they do some ballads and great vocals too, and I really liked this album :D Would love to see you react to some more of their other music, I think some of the other comments have explained their discography, and yeah I think they had a couple of smaller releases and then their other full album, which is just called "The Album", and I think Jisoo is the only one who hasn't had a solo song release yet as far as I know. They had a documentary on Netflix called Light Up the Sky if you wanted to learn more about them, I thought it was a really great watch <3

Rebecca H

do twice’s latest album 🥺

ann

Such talented girls! Sadly there are very few tracks that they have gotten to participate in the making of. Out of these Jisoo (pronounced g-sew, like the way you said it the second time) and Rose (like the wine) got to participate in yeah, yeah, yeah. They seem like really sweet girls and are fantastic performers, I just wish they got to express themselves more. Especially, because their discography is all very strong girl power type vibes (or just we are better than everyone else), but mostly being written by a man (his name is Teddy, though they have other writers, but I believe he does all the producing). I don't think it is terrible to be a fantastic performer and have someone else write your stuff if that is your thing (which with their company I'm not sure that is what they want), but it is harder to connect with deeply? I really love their voices (Rose is my favorite) and enjoy most of their songs. And their stage presence is great! They're really known for their mvs too, because they feel very larger than life and powerful. One of their most iconic moments is performing at Coachella in 2019. They're going on tour soon and I'm sure they'll put on an amazing show!

chimelle6

If you want to check out more Blackpink, there're only 23 songs left in their discography so here's the quick list for their releases Square Two EP (2016) As if It's Your Last single (2017) Square Up EP (2018) Kill This Love EP (2019) The Album (2020) and then there's a collab with Dua Lipa called Kiss and Make Up and one with Lady Gaga called Sour Candy. Jennie released a solo song called SOLO Rosé has On The Ground and Gone Lisa has Lalisa and Money and that's it, that's all they released in 6 years (because their company hates women, but a whole different discussion)

Giu Bressani

Haha - rosé like the wine

Jillian Stamatelos

where do we even start about the way YG treats their girl groups......

Giu Bressani

Ya they don't let them do alot in being involved in the music...

Lydia97

Twice is a lot more bubblegum pop and cute in general, and recently started experimenting more with synth-pop, some euro-pop influences etc while BP always had more EDM and a harder hitting sound, with more rap verses and hip-hop influences, especially for their title tracks. But they do have a more pop-ish side here and there (which are my favorite songs lol). Blackpink's name actually comes from them having a Black and a Pink side, one that's tougher and the other softer and "flirtier"

Giu Bressani

Yeah lots of very basic lyrics. Just took it all at surface level. Are they restricted at the moment by label or something?

Michael Beveraggi

Thank you

MinSugasonly1

Ya he reacted to Jack in the box... The vid was posted on the 21st of July

Lydia97

I can't wait till there 7 years are up.. Keen to see what music they will make when they can do what they want to do.

Lydia97

Have you done jhope's jack in the box yet? This one just came out. 🤔

MinSugasonly1

YES that’s the song! Since I haven’t heard a whole lot yet, How would you compare them to Twice, Giu?

Michael Beveraggi

Argh - what frustrates me about this is that they're all so clearly talented and skilled. There's so much work that they put in to elevating their singing and rapping, but the lyrics are so throwaway >_< also that line in typa girl - do we still need to step on other women to elevate ourselves?! YG give them better songs

Lauren

Omg so excited for you to discover this group - they're amazing!!!

Emma

The song you're looking for in Pink Venom is Rihanna's Pon De Replay! The one Lisa references in her first verse. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Blackpink's sound, but I'm always happy to see you exploring more KPop and discovering new artists. My favorites from this album are definitely Yeah Yeah Yeah and Hard To Love, but their stuff from 2017/2018 are by far the best from me (They only have 30 songs in their discography, so you should absolutely sit down to listen to the whole thing eventually)

Giu Bressani

demi lovatos new album is incredible! please check it out :)

luviemoo

Do Jessie Reyez new album please!! You'll love it.

Maralys Cedeno

wait WHAT

Giu Bressani

Please do Noah Cyrus’ album!!
