ok i'm rewatching this so i'm just seeing your comment but... have you seen the films? like the whole point of the plot is that Peeta is good, better than Katniss and she changes bc of him. like she only cares about her sister (not saying thats wrong) but then she wants to change the system BECAUSE of Peeta. maybe its clearear in the books but your comment doesnt make any sense, especially since katniss NEVER had feelings for gale

In the books it’s explained he burnt the bread on purpose as Katniss father had just died in the mines and was how they paid for food. Her family was starving and this was prior to her learning to hunt. He saw her starving and purposely burnt the bread. He knew his mother would beat him for it but she would make him feed wasted or ruined products to the pigs, but he gave it to Katniss instead. A little known fan theory is that the rehearsed girl who ate Peetas night lock berries actually took her own life on purpose. If you pay attention during the first training scene she is seen doing a test in poisonous bugs, berries and plants, and she aces the test. There’s no way she would have not known the night lock was poisonous. And Katniss missed the first shot in her evaluation because she was not used to a professional bow. She had to adjust to it. And Peeta is 100% genuine all the time. He never lies or exaggerates. He is who he is and it’s a reason the fandom says Katniss will never deserve Peeta.

I never ended up watching the last two movies since I had such mixed ideas of the final book, but I'll probably watch along with you if you decide to finish the series out :)

Hunger Games and HP are the only franchise books that I have read, although I did start reading the book after the first movie but then kinda read the rest in between! Jennifer Lawrence was the perfect choice despite some people have grown to be annoyed by her now for some reason, I have always loved her ❤️

I read the books as a teen, and watch the movies when they came out, and love them! But it's been a while, so it's gonna be fun revisiting all. Also Josh Huchterson (Peeta) was a moment! Before Tom holland! haha Other great actors in this: Elizabeth Banks (Effie Trinket), Lenny Kravitz (Cinna), Woody Harrelson (Hemitch), Stanley Tucci (Caesar Flickerman - The show host), Donald Sutherland (President Snow - The head of the Games). I really enjoyed watching with you, can't wait for the others! :)

XD These are some of my favorite book to movie adaptations; especially, as everyone has mentioned before, Catching Fire. This is a trilogy of books but they divided the last book into 2 movie adaptations, whether it was for money (most likely) or to keep in as much as posible of the finale of this story.

The last two serve as a two-parter since it´s a trilogy book series, but there´s so much material they had to split it up. All 4 are amazing but I think this next one will be hard to beat for you. Also Taylor has 2 songs on the soundtrack of this movie so a reaction to "Safe and Sound" and "Eyes Open" would be amazing!! Enjoy the rest of the ride I will be SEATED

2023-03-05 01:49:36 +0000 UTCYou're so right that sequels, especially in the book world, have so much pressure, to follow up a really hyped first book and can fall flat. Catching Fire is NOT that. Especially with the films, in a lot of people's opinion, Catching Fire is one of The Best book to movie adaptaions on the market--it is a great story, a great follow up, and an even more amazing adaptaion and film. I'm so glad you enjoyed the first one and can't wait for the rest! There are a few things, as always, that you wish they could've elaborated more on in the film, but they really got the important stuff and nothing was left out to the point that it was detrimental to the story or the adaption. It did exactly what it needed to do and it did it very well! :-) some extra things: i haven't seem any other comments mention it yet so ill say it here and hope you see. the dogs at the end were actually A LOT more significant in the books. the capital makes what many citizens just call "mutts" whether its just cross breeding or genertically engineering animals (aas we see with mockingjays and trackerjackers). so the dogs in the games were actually made by the engineers to have one for each tribute who had already died (so 20 dogs) AND they were each made to have replicated eyes to look like a pair of eyes from the tributes, which includes a dog who's eyes were rue's. it was very distressing to katniss of course, and just an even more terrifying thing on top of the fact that they already created a pack of killer dogs to chase them. also, i died at the fact that you don't know josh hutcherson (peeta) and called him tom holland. he did some good stuff as a kid actor (bridge to terabithia) and is a pretty cool guy that had alllll the girlies going nuts as charming and kind peeta in THG.

I remember being so excited that I was finally allowed to watch PG-13 movies in the cinema, but I honestly don't remember much of the last 2 movies so yeah. I do really like this franchise, but I've always had a hard time connecting with the characters in it. I'm not quite sure why

Also, Haymitch is definitely jaded and scarred from his own games, but he has also had to be a mentor to district 12's tributes every year since, and every year they've died. He doesn't want to get attached, actually put in effort to help them only to watch them brutally murdered. Ofc he eventually warms up to Katniss and Peeta. So glad you're doing these!
