2024-08-19 14:29:57 +0000 UTCoh god i forgot how much this album made me cry when it dropped, i haven't heard it in a while... i think you just gotta accept that it's a commentary on postmodern society and isolation that comes with late stage capitalism, i'll be it from a narcissist's pov (the concrete shoes line i always interpreted as idealising about drowning yourself but never making the moves to do it)

2024-05-27 10:09:55 +0000 UTCI’m so glad you did this! Watching someone else experience Love It If We Made It for the first time is like a special treat for me. This is genuinely a great band and I think you will find a lot more to enjoy in the rest of their discography. Being Funny in a Foreign Language might be the most (ahem) relevant album to try next.

2024-04-27 03:56:51 +0000 UTCSo excited for more 1975 reactions! This was so good 🥰 Being Funny in a Foreign Language is my favourite body of work but the other albums have some or my favourite, favourite songs, very keen to hear more of your thoughts on those ☺️

2024-04-26 12:25:46 +0000 UTCThis makes me so happy! The 1975 are one of my all time favorite bands. Matty and Taylor are in my opinion the top two lyricists of our generation so I’m glad some of their fans are starting to be inspired by the TTPD drama to check out the other’s work. I personally think you started with the hardest album to digest as a new listener so if you enjoyed this one you will absolutely love their discography. Another super experimental and broad album is Notes On A Conditional Form which has my favorite song on it but my favorite album is I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it - another crazy title for an album but it’s AMAZING. Close second favorite is their newest one Being Funny in a Foreign Language - produced by Jack Antonoff and on which you will find moments that are directly referenced sonically in TTPD and a couple songs that are very much about/inspired by Taylor. Interesting fact is that on every album their first track is called The 1975 but is completely unique to the project. Sorry to write a book but since you are someone who pays close attention to lyrics in your reactions I cannot wait for you to check out more of their music! So many songs sound so upbeat or even romantic but are about such contrastingly dark topics like his addiction to heroine or mass shootings or religious trauma so I hope you’ll share the experience with us! But regardless enjoy!!

2024-04-26 03:39:32 +0000 UTCI know its probably not popular opinion but Notes On a Conditional Form is probably my favorite 1975 album other than this one. Phoebe Bridgers actually sings on a handful of tracks on it. Definitely worth checking out.

2024-04-23 18:21:29 +0000 UTCI am a huge swiftie and a stan of the 1975 since 2013. It’s been a rough year. Matty makes it so hard to be a fan sometimes lol but I’m so glad you checked them out. Please listen to more of their albums!!
Melissa
2024-04-23 15:33:04 +0000 UTCyour intro about matty being problematic but still just being here for the art is so relatable lmao.... but if you do want to hear more 1975, just based on your fave tracks i would recommend 'i like it when you sleep...' or their debut, even if you just listen by yourself <3

2024-04-23 03:23:22 +0000 UTCThis band has been with me since I was 14 (almost 25 now) and god I’ve hated Matt for like so long now but my hatred for him intensified when I saw them live (god they’re so good dude, Matt’s voice beautiful) that being said Matt is such a shit head but I love the band sm 😔🫣😭

2024-04-23 01:37:26 +0000 UTCfun fact, its not living if its not with you is about his struggle with his past heroin addiction. may not be easy to tell from the happy and bright production haha

2024-04-23 01:29:01 +0000 UTCmore the 1975 plssss!!! <3
sav
2024-04-23 01:26:49 +0000 UTCi’ll always talk about this but it’s not living if it’s not with you is about his addiction and now knowing that and going back to listen to it it’s great.

2024-04-23 01:06:12 +0000 UTCI would love to see you listen to more the 1975 projects. Two first albums hold very special place in my heart.

2024-04-23 01:00:12 +0000 UTC“I like it when you sleep…” is definitely their best lyrical album in my opinion

2024-04-23 00:48:58 +0000 UTCoh i’m interested what made you choose this album of theirs? one of my favorites of theirs for sure! also their intro song ‘the 1975’ is a running theme, it’s the same lyrics on their first 3 albums, just different production!
Allison V
2024-04-23 00:45:19 +0000 UTCI agree with your beginning sentiment though. I’m fully here for the lyrics, not the lead singer. I just feel such an emotional attachment to the lyrics
