2024-07-05 20:43:36 +0000 UTCi love that you called it almost right away about Derek being a psycho. That was amazing. I don't think I've seen someone call it that fast. But yeah it sucks that Peyton has to have yet another terrible thing come into her life. And I have to say, as much as I love Brooke (she's my favorite character in the show and like top 5 fav characters from any show) but sometimes she says some out of line stuff, like telling Peyton that anyone that gets close to her dies. It's really messed up, but i try to remind myself she's only 18 and she's very hurt right now. I love that Skills is finally getting some real stories and becoming a bigger part of the show. He's so funny and charismatic and they really had him pushed so far to the background for a lot of the show so far. His friendship with Lucas and his relationship with Bevin are such highlights. I definitely think he deserves just as much screen time as Mouth (if not more tbh).

I love season 4 and I think people regard it as the best season, if not, one of the best, but it can be kind of a mess at times in terms of characterisation. Sometimes it feels like everyone is acting kind of off for the sake of the plot but also like.. maybe it’s just all the trauma lol. Ah the Peyton trauma porn continues !!!! Free my girl !!! She’s doomed by the narrative !!!! Peyton is my favourite character and I just find her to be so complex, followed by Brooke as my next favourite. I hate to see them fight but I understand why, they aren’t always great friends to each other, particularly Peyton lol. I actually think the actor for Derek did an amazing job because he had the perfect amount of weird vibes from the start. I like how even as far back as this, it’s showing that you should protect your information online and giving it out freely on your podcast or webcam might actually be dangerous! Love that message!! It’s only increased in relevance. Rachel and Dan stuff is draining, particularly Dan as always. I can’t judge Rachel that much because I’ve been that girl. Maybe not a stalker and not a bully either but I was boy obsessed to the point of insanity from 14-16. I put all my worth into what boys thought of me and I’d do anything to get that approval, no matter how I was treated and no matter if it made me a bad person. I didn’t have to process any of my real trauma or pain from home because it didn’t matter what I thought of myself, it only mattered what others thought, particularly men. I didn’t have to feel anything besides joy or sadness over this conquest, surface level stuff so I didn’t have to deal with anything real. That was honestly more real to me at that time. It’s insane! I’m good now, I’ve processed the majority of this later on and stopped caring about what men think of me but I just can’t look at a girl like that and completely hate her. I’d be a hypocrite. I really needed someone when I acted similarly to that, so I don’t hate her for that reason. Sorry for the overshare!!

Peyton was the name of the girl in highschool who I guess rejected him and then he was sexually harassing and I think even sexual assaulted Hilarie so because of that combo notice Peytons storylines are always dark and bring her suffering.
