Soooo if you’re not in the discord (which I recommend you join 🙂 I’ll leave a link here: https://discord.gg/zQc4p7rK ) then this is a lil update, I got hit by good ole Beryl Sunday night and was without power until just this afternoon. I’m perfectly fine and good, this is to let you all know I fell a little behind on content. Plan to get back in the chair tomorrow, in the meantime I wanted to use this post as a soundboard for what you’d all like to see here, along with what’s to be expected, as I put some plans together the rest of the evening (and bask in some air conditioning).

Also, Jungkook and Jimin have a new travel show starting on August 8th on Disney+. I think that would be fun to watch together! For music, of course BTS. But also, I think it would be fun to do a “Decades Rewind” and go back to like the 80s, 90s, 00s and pick a couple albums. You could even go genre specific like 90s grunge, 00s emo/punk rock, etc.

Some of my personal favorites are A Business Proposal, Hidden Love (this one is chinese and sooo sweet), A Time Called You, Doctor Romantic, My Demon, Our Beloved Summer, All of us are Dead and, of course, Itaewon Class. Don't worry hahaha I also get super excited about this, there's so many amazing k-dramas to watch!

When you look for a new cartoon, I hope you consider Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. They were made by Dave Filoni, the same person who made Avatar: The Last Airbender. While they are technically kids shows, they work for adults in the same way Avatar does. Stay cool!

I always say for you to watch normal people … all time favourite show, it is adapted from a book. 1 season, 12 episodes all under or around 30 minutes. Bridgerton is also good, 3 seasons plus a prequel that should be watched between season 2 and 3. Another oldie but goodie that came out during OTH time would be the OC.. that is 4 seasons.

Their album Another Eternity is more listenable but womb is an album that I had such an emotional response to I’ve never felt that way about an album so quickly and if you have time even just on your own time to check them out I’d love to hear your opinion :) I’d start with the song stardew to get a feel for them

2024-07-11 19:12:28 +0000 UTCDon’t know what Beryl is (I’m assuming it’s the name of a storm / wind), but I’m glad you’re okay! Power outages suck. As for what I’d like to see, well, for music, I really like a band called Nightwish. They’re a Finnish band, but they sing in English (except for a few select songs). Mostly do symphonic metal, but they also have some songs belonging to other genres as well. I’ve only seen a few of their albums so far, and of the ones I’ve seen, a really old (2011) album called Imaginaerum is the best (in my biased opinion). It’s also got an equally as old movie to go with it (2012), which is based on the album’s world! Both the movie and the album are, in my opinion, very sad but also very beautiful. If you decide to listen to it or watch the movie, a word of caution: there’s unfortunately a bunch of drama surrounding Nightwish, primarily its singers. Apparently, their lead singer has changed three times, (first it was Tarja Turunen, then Anette Olzon, who originally sang Imaginaerum, and now Floor Jansen), and apparently, there was some kind of drama behind both changes, which has apparently left a permanent mark in the Nightwish community (I’m saying apparently a lot because I’m not really that knowledgeable about the whys behind the whole thing), but just putting this out there in case you want to avoid any potential toxicity. As for non-music content, this may sound a bit strange, but hear me out, everyone: Neon Genesis Evangelion. It’s a really old (1995) anime I came across recently, and as for what kind of anime? Well let me fill in a little checklist (also, don’t worry, nothing is a spoiler, as everything I’m about to tell you is revealed in episode 1). The remnants of humanity threatened by giant eldritch monsters? Check. Humanity using giant mechas piloted by humans to fight these eldritch monsters? Check. Highly morally gray characters and world? Check. Themes relating to conflict, freedom, and the human condition? Check. Depression, pain, agony, and death? Check. A plotline purposefully made EXTREMELY confusing? Check. Basically, its Attack on Titan, but more sci-fi and – unbelievably – more confusing. Not only is the lore confusing AF, everything from the lighting effects, the camera angels, the contrasts, the transitions, the pacing, and the way the characters are placed in the world have been purposefully made as confusing and surrealistic as possible. Its an anime that will completely deep-fry your brain if you watch it more than 4 episodes at a time (I know from experience). And to add to the confusion, there’s apparently multiple continuities, with Neon Genesis Evangelion being an anime series, and a movie called the End of Evangelion, which is somehow related to Neon Genesis Evangelion (I think). Apparently the movie follows the same characters, but has a different (and apparently much darker!) plotline, and an ending that’s somehow supposedly related to the ending of Neon Genesis Evangelion? I haven’t seen it yet, but that’s what I’ve understood. Not sure when I’ll get to the movie, as the anime itself was confusing enough, but I genuinely enjoyed it, and I think you might as well! Or not, I'm not sure. It really seems like the type of anime one either loves or hates, no in-between. But you did enjoy Attack on Titan, and Evangelion does have a lot of striking similarities, so I thought I'd put this out here.
