I haven’t seen Dawson’s Creek. It’s one of the few teen dramas I haven’t seen. Especially from the 90s/00s. I’ve always wanted to, but just never got around to it. But I did know about that storyline. I think the worst teacher/student storyline offender is probably Pretty Little Liars.

I hate it in this and every other teen drama from the 90s and 00s that's done it. it's almost never portrayed as bad in the perspective of the main characters. Like this is a grown man who is seven years older than her, and it's still not shown as their relationship being bad. He was only shown as a bad guy for cheating on her. And the scene with him and Rachel is left way too ambiguous. I'm sure they want you to doubt Rachel, because of her past on the show. It just all felt like it was badly handled. And I totally agree about the Deb storyline. It's way too comedic for the subject matter. I feel like they've turned her into a punchline. They could have really delved into this arc for her and given some her great material. And I almost hate to talk about Mouth, but I think the model thing was so awkward and cringy and gross. They could have had the beginning be the same with him being nervous around her and then maybe let him talk to her about Gigi and have him realize he does like or something. But no they had to make her seem like a predator getting excited about him being a virgin. It's so weird. And I feel so bad for that girl, because she was a contestant on America's Next Top Model and won a challenge on that show that gave her that role as a prize and then they make her do that. She was great on ANTM and actually ended up winning too. And I mean what was the point of all that stuff with Mouth if she was just going to end up with the teacher anyway.

I enjoy them a lot more now than I used to, but I hardly ever babysat b/c entertaining children was the most boring thing in the world to me. I’m so glad there are people who do love kids though. I adore Haley and Nathan so much! Him with the kids at the end is the sweetest thing. Plus, James Lafferty is handsome as hell. I really like Peyton with Derek. I’m glad it’s not just Lucas “saving her” again. One of the best scenes of the first episode is the two of them in the boxing ring, images going through her mind of all the trauma she has been through while she’s punching him. I do feel deeply for her. This girl has been through way too much. Skills being a bigger part of the show is great. Wish we would get more Skills and Bevin and less Mouth and Rachel. Good music in the last episode. Band of Horses “The Funeral” at the end. Great song. Also, The Silversun song playing when Lucas is shooting the free throws and he looks over at Nathan…. The nervousness and anticipation you can see on him. The tension was set well there. Looking forward to the next eps!!

But anyway, still love real brother Derek. She needed someone like him in her life. And your thoughts of Dan & Karen being a possibility has me 😂 Your hatred for him will always be my favorite parts of your reactions. But I can't wait for you to continue the season! This is one of my favorites and it's just getting started. Bring on the rest! ❤️

2024-07-27 05:59:59 +0000 UTCI'm so glad I stopped at one kid. More than that and they gang up on you. 😂 This show does a lot of things well, but the stuff with Mouth is so cringe. Feels like someone (cough, creator, cough) is living out his fantasies vicariously through that character and it grosses me out.

2024-07-27 05:09:14 +0000 UTCSadly, everything that’s going on right now that isn’t Lucas, Peyton, Haley or Nathan is just kinda boring to me! My brain is turning off in those scenes which I hate to say because I want to be invested in what Brooke is doing. Love all the Peyton stuff, feels so important after seasons of trauma that’s went relatively unresolved. Lucas and Peyton seem like they are already dating without actually dating. Obviously Haley has to do what’s right for her but once again the shows teachings (voiced through Karen’s advice) that you should go through with having a baby even with no money, is just so unrealistic and I hate how much weight seems to solely be on Haley in terms of becoming a mother and practically dealing with finances long term.

2024-07-27 01:26:39 +0000 UTCOkay this comment is regarding last episodes but I wrote out a big thing at the time and then my phone died and I lost it all so I’ll just summarise it because I don’t think anyone else said anything about it. I hate the way that the abortion stuff was handled. Portraying this character who is slut shaming, promoting “purity” culture and is pro-life in a sympathetic light despite the fact she’s going round shaming other girls is disgusting. No one should be forced into either keeping a pregnancy or having an abortion. It’s a choice. I don’t know what the show was appearing to teach the many young people that were watching the show but it seems like sex bad, baby good? Just more conservative value nonsense. Abortion is healthcare, you got to do what’s right for you! Esp with the writer/creator’s other writing choices of sexualising young girls/women but then having this sort of moral judgement of them and slut shaming them/expecting them to be “pure”, it just seems sexist as fuck to me! Anyway, I love Lucas and Peyton. Even as friends, I just love their relationship. Glad psycho Derek is off my screen and glad to see potential for a real brother for Peyton. She deserves a family!! Can’t wait to watch these ones!!
