2024-08-30 01:10:17 +0000 UTCDespite how problematic it can be, I will always have a special place in my heart for this show for being one of the first shows I saw with queer characters as a main cast member and not just on the sidelines or making a joke of them. That scene with Kurt and his dad at the end of 1x04 always gets me. Even though they live in a more conservative place, Kurt's dad accepts him as best as he can and makes sure that Kurt knows he loves him still, and that's all we really want from our families.

So I gotta say with Kurt's dad I mean he didn't do anything wrong in the sense of acceptance! But he's not connecting with his kid and I get it but you gotta meet your kids where they are at not the other way around!!! Kurt shouldn't have to lie about his interest to connect with his dad! My babies are pretty young but I will always be interested in what they are interested or atleast be present and show them I care! My 4 year old son loves dinosaurs and basketball, I know nothing about either but you can bet that I listen to him rattle on about both. My daughter has been in dance for 3 years now, I know nothing about dance but I am at every practice every show. And she can name every move from ballet to hip hop! And I would listen to her name them all. My point is these aren't things I would generally be into but for my babies I will be!!

2024-08-29 12:50:49 +0000 UTChonestly i hope u continue the show. it’s so out of pocket and a mess honestly and the lore behind it is a whole other story BUT there’s a reason so many fell in love with it. i think you will too. there’s more characters to come that you will love and character developments you’ll also love along the way. the music gets better and the storylines get better. honestly season 1 can be a slow start for most ppl. it’s gonna take time to really get into it but i promise you will. so many characters will soon start to shine vocally and while the shows jokes h definitely can’t make today the show was also very progressive in other areas especially when it came to the queer community. i promise once we get to mid season of season 1 you’ll start to vibe with it more. i never really liked terri’s storyline so once that storylines over i think the show improves

He originally tried out for Artie and then the creator personally wrote him the character of Kurt, who was openly gay. Then he decided to come out while the show was filming even though he was told not to. Makes me appreciate his character even more on a rewatch. (And the girl you pointed out as Naya Rivera in ep 3 was indeed Naya Rivera aka Santana)
