Everyone has already given you all the information you need for right now, so I'll just say I'm excited to go on this journey with you. I've always been a fan of period pieces, with Emma by Jane Austen being my favorite (the version starring Anya Taylor Joy is so good and I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't). I love this show's approach to the genre. It's very fun and refreshing. The incorporation of modern music as if they were classical pieces they would've danced to back then is great. It's been done before but not always well. When it's done right, it's such a nice addition, especially on a show like this. I don't watch with subtitles so I always have fun trying to pick out what the songs are. All of these versions of the songs are available to stream as well on the show's soundtrack.

Their ages in real life or how they look do not reflect there ages in the show. If I remember correctly Daphne is 17 and the duke is in his twenties. Penelope is 16 but in real life the actor that plays people was like 35 when she started filming this show.

I do love the Colin appreciation (He is the one that dances with Penelope at the ball after that girl spills her drink on her). He is my favourite. Yeah they always have pop songs in orchestra arrangements in every season and it’s so fun.

I find Eloise so pretentious and self-centred, this is probably a very unpopular opinion, she's really young so I can kinda overlook it but Daphne was confiding in her. She really wants those things in her life, marriage and children, it wasn't a facade. Eloise can't see past what her view on life is and she attributes those views to everyone, thinking they have the same priorities as her. I'm all for a progressive character in a period drama, they're badasses but with Eloise she can kinda get on my nerves sometimes. But I guess it makes her a good character because her behaviour can be explained through her upbringing, she grew up in a privileged household with a titled and upstanding family and feels like she has a right to comment on everyones else's decisions because she wants different things out of life than all the women around her. That isn't to say she doesn't have a right to want those things, like I said I adore characters in period dramas that are progressive and Eloise is ultimately right that women shouldn't just be there to marry and have children of course but be more compassionate to other peoples wants and desires at least.

Oh this will be so fun! I love this season. The real Queen Charlotte used to have a snuff addiction. The snuff was dry, ground tobacco, and she even had a room full of her snuff collection. She even got the nickname "Snuffy Queen"

Fun fact Jonathan Bailey (the guy who plays the older brother Anthony) has an appearance in heartstopper s3 which I know you’re watching rn. They’ve shown him briefly already in the episodes you’ve watched. He’s apart of the queer community and actually asked to play a small role in the show!!

Quick societal explanations for you Michael as you're already wondering about "vibes": Basically the queen is looking for "the best/most suitable" girl which is now eligible for marriage. How does she know? well they must be "wellbred" (gags internally writing that) so from a good family, preferably with a higher title than just lord or lady, Daphne's eldest brother is a Viscount so that works in her favour. The girl should also behave according to etiquette rules and not be too much. She should also be pretty and she should be accomplished (have talents such as music or arts and speak a few languages was expected). Now, the Featheringtons are kind of doomed from the start. Why? Because their mother has decided to put all 3 girls on the marked at once. This was not considered "proper" at the time, usually girls were spaced out by at least a year (as with the perfect Bridgertons) so the family could be more dedicated to finding a suitable match. Moreover, putting all girls out at once would be viewed as their family being desperate to marry them off and make them someone else's financial responsibility, possibly indicating that the family was having money troubles.

penelope is the only featherington that is close with the bridgertons, she is eloise's best friend and has always spent as much time as possible at their house. the rest of the bridgertons love her and see her as a good family friend, including colin. she's played by the amazing nicola coughlan! she's irish, a huge advocate for palestine, and has a really good drama/comedy that came out this year about bipolar disorder called big mood!

Oh this is going to be fun to re-watch with you! I’m excited! Here’s some of my notes: -A rake is kind of like a fuckboy that also indulges in other vices like gambling, drinking, etc. -Julie Andrews is the narrator. You probably do know who she is as she is very famous for her roles in The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, and more recently as the queen in The Princess Diaries). -There are 8 Bridgerton children. It is easy to know who is older because they are named sequentially alphabetically: Anthony, Benedict, Collin, Daphne, Eloise, Fran, Gregory, and Hyacinth. -When Anthony and his mother were talking and she said he was unable to produce an heir, she didn’t mean physically. Only children born in wedlock are considered heirs (receive inheritance and title). Any children Anthony would have had with his mistress would have been out of wedlock and therefore illegitimate (a bastard). They would not be legally entitled to any inheritance or titles. So basically, she was saying Anthony was failing his family because he was out screwing his mistress instead of fulfilling his duty to get married and produce a legitimate heir. -The corsets/stays: while yes, the scene with the over tightening of the corset showed how they could be bad when used improperly, they were also necessary foundation garments. Wearing those styles of dresses in those silky fabrics without any foundation garments would cause any lump, bump, nipple, etc. to show through. Think of them kind of like sturdier versions of modern bras and Spanx. Can’t wait to keep re-watching this with you!
