Honestly, Glee during my teenage years is the reason I discovered classic music and started developing a good — or at least an educated — taste in music. It has its faults, but man, it’s so good, and it only gets better in so many ways. And, honestly, I prefer the Glee versions over some of the originals. Let’s keep going!

You’ll definitely be hearing more from her. Kurt went OFF on Rose’s Turn, I had forgotten how amazing it really was, TikTok had the “all that work and what did it get me” trend going for a while and I really forgot just how amazing this performance actually was Your excitement to tears for The Boy Is Mine is really relatable lol I damn near cried with you. This show really has its ups and downs, but the highs are REALLY high, the heart, the messages, the music. Great reaction as always!!

I've already talked about how much I relate to that storyline on other episodes, so I'll spare you of that, but it's hard to get through that one without tearing up. His sadness and anger are so real and raw. This show is just so weird. Like it goes from these amazing emotional moments that are so honest and real to slapstick comedy bits and the most off the wall, out of pocket dialogue. It's just so surreal.

They were at a creative impasse, when Bono just started singing the words to "One." Suddenly they could be creative again. One of the best lyrics is "we get to carry each other." In other words, it's a privilege to be in love. There are several versions on the video, including one with the guys in drag. This were their way of drawing attention to the AIDS crisis, which was very much a big deal in 1991. Perhaps it sounds a bit clumsy, but it's quite beautiful. Mary J. Blige also recorded a version of "One."

I know she started as a side character but I have always wondered why they didn't give her her moment sooner than that. She has some BEAUTIFUL solos and duets to come, some of which are my favorite in the show of all time.

2024-12-09 15:37:58 +0000 UTCRose's Turn is from the musical "Gypsy" (disclaimer this word is considered a slur for Romani people so I apologize for typing it out, I just couldn't figure out how to convey the title otherwise). This song is one of my favorite Kurt solo's though! But he still has much better ones to come. I always love his moments with his dad, the show has done a great job of establishing their bond so early, especially when you consider how little we know about some of the other members of the glee club lol Hot take though! I actually think Burt kinda dropped the ball this time. I love him, but I do think he needs to do a BIT better than just "this is hard and i'm trying but i love you". As a queer child to parents who love me and are well meaning but still hurt me consistently with comments and actions, sometimes the love is not quite good enough! Serious self-reflection and behavioral adjustment is needed sometimes. Yk actions speak louder than words and what not. Santana and Mercedes are just....chef's kiss everytime they sing like my god. The Boy is Mine is a great excuse for me to tell you that Glee did release the soundtracks of all the songs they'd sing every season and it's the tracks recorded in full instead of the shortened for tv audios you hear so I highly recommend giving their cover a listen on streaming for all the goodness of their voices!
