Like, I agree with you that the episodes could be a bit longer, and certain things could be fleshed out a bit more, but still, this is one of the best shows I've seen in a long time overall: the animation, the art styles, the OST, the story, the characters...all of it is so well done. I personally also enjoyed the hex-tech / magic aspect of it a lot, specifically because it is so confusing: I think that's good! I think that's the point! The show is called "Arcane," after all, and at least in my understanding, the word "arcane" specifically refers to more mysterious or otherworldly aspects of magic, which is exactly why all the confusion, mysteries, and unasnwered questions fit so well. Hex-tech and the Black Rose truly felt like something "arcane" to me: they were completely beyond science (especially with the time travel aspect), despite Jayce's and Viktor's desperate attempts to turn magic into science. Also, I find it hilarious that in the comment I left in the previous reaction, I SPECIFICALLY hoped that magic WOULDN'T fuck time because of how confusing that is, so now I really feel like I jinxed it (get it? Jinxed?) ANYWAY, bad puns aside, regarding Jayce's and Viktor's attempts to understand and shackle magic with science: sure, it worked for a while, with the hex-gates and all, but there were still so many things they didin't understand or have control over, and ultimately, the Arcane ended up having more control over things, considering how Victor and Jayce had to destroy their own work in the end to prevent the apocalypse. In this universe, mankind truly wasn't meant to wield that kind of power in that kind of way: the Arcane is best left exactly as it is - a confusing mystery. And this "arcane" feeling is empowered with the extremely trippy visuals when dealing with magic, especially in the final scene where there was a completely new art style! That was SO GOOD! This show really nailed its magic system, at least in my opinion, and once again - though I have said it a million times over - I just LOVE how magic is so completely and utterly BRUTAL when used for warfare. I'm tired of the "fairytale" interpretation of it, where magic is ALWAYS portrayed as something elegant, regardless of context: there's no room for elegance in real world battles, so why would magic make it any different? I'm glad that Arcane understands this. And moving on to the less brutal aspects of the show, I specifically want to mention Vi's and Caitlyn's relationship with each other, which thankfully turned out to be happy, despite the initial struggles, because goddamn, Vi REALLY needs someone in her life after all the loss and trauma she's been through. The one thing that struck with me the most about the two was the sex scene, because those are things I usually skip, or at least turn the volume off, if I feel like I might miss some important lore by skipping them. It's a bit funny, because I'm 21 (soon 22), but the concept of sex has NEVER appealed to me, lmao. I have never had any romantic interest in anyone, don't know anything about how romantic love feels (though I do understand how platonic love feels, as in, the kind of love you feel for your family and friends), and simply the IDEA of having sex makes me extremely uncomfortable: sexual imagery, sexual sounds, it doesn't matter: anything related to sex, and I immediately nope out. I'm fine with touching (like hugging my family or friends), and I do appreciate a good hug, but anything beyond that, NOPE: just the thought of making out with someone makes me feel so extremely uncomfortable, so I never really watch scences like that in shows...but for some reason, I didin't feel any discomfort when Vi and Caitlyn did it. I watched the whole scence, but no discomfort. It may sound small, but that is completely UNHEARD OF for me. I have watched many shows, many of them having at least one sex scene, and I always could only tolerate it for like few seconds max before having to skip or mute. But this one, I could watch. Full volume, didin't even need to avert my gaze. It still confuses me. The only theory I have is that perhaps I had become so comfortable with these two characters over the course of the show that I was also comfortable watching them do something I could never imagine watching otherwise, let alone imagine doing in real life. For me, that is a huge accomplishment from any piece of media: sex and romance are the least important things to me in any story, so to make me so invested in two characters that I can watch them have sex without any discomfort speaks volumes of the show's greatness. Again, I know its probably stupid and may seem insiginificant, but it's not insignificant to me. For all the amazing memories I'm sure I'll have of this show, I think that will be my strongest one, and I STILL don't know WHY I was suddendly so comfortable watching something like that, when I usually NEVER am. I guess that's just one another mystery of this show, because MY GOD, there is a lot of mysteries and confusion here, lmao. The title "Arcane" really fits. I don't think there is a better word to describe this show and the experience it provides. Absolutely loved this, and your reaction to it was amazing, too!

2025-05-11 13:54:16 +0000 UTCok i finished ur reactions to episodes 6&7. isha…my bby girl. i’ll never get over how they killed her in a parallel of powder in s1e3 where she killed vander, mylo, & claggor, but this time instead of powder killing people she loved trying to save them, isha killed herself trying to save people she loved. i memorialized her in my arcane tattoo, bc i will literally never be over it, just like jinx won’t. doing a completely 180 turn in convo now, “jesus viktor” in this episode…..holy androgyny, he’s so fucking hot. his fucking balayage??? ain’t never seen a hotter man. & i need to know u noticed that man still wearing jayce’s blanket 😭 he’s down bad for his partner 🤭 ok now ep 7… au powder has my entire heart. powder & ekko fucking stomp on my soul with how much i love this episode. don’t even get me STARTED on the vander & silco of it all this episode too 😭😭😭 i love them 🥺 s2 has truly S tier episodes it makes me want to kms. EDIT: just as clarification the rose necklace pendant that powder put in the drawer has nothing to do with vi. our ekko NOT au ekko gave it to her, the rose if you look closely takes the shape of ekko & powders faces together 🥹🤭

When her bomb goes off you can see a purple/pink light dash away (which is what they use to show when jinx uses her shimmer upgrade to move so fast) and when Cait was holding the bomb and looking at the hexgates she zooms in on a possible escape route. They end the show showing the airship which people believe jinx is on bc powder says in ep 1 she’s going to ride in one of those one day
