"Why do I give so much shit about these two characters that I don't know??" ME TOO! I love Ilya and Shane but I would go to WAR for Scott and Kip. I was immediately ride or die. I love love love the way that this show decided to give us a fast burn and a slow burn on the same show, and intertwine them just enough. Hell yes! (which is a hint in and of itself, this reaction of mine, hah)

2026-01-13 21:41:52 +0000 UTCIt took me till the second watch (finished the show today, immediately ran to see Michael react to it) but I just realized that in Sochi, Ilya was probably craving physical comfort from Shane but couldn't let himself. He told Shane to go away because Ilya himself is a risktaker but he cannot, must not take that risk. Just beautiful, even though Shane doesn't recognize it.

Just started watching, but wanted to answer a question you have had which is this the first time they have been together privately since Vegas and the answer is YES!! In the books, they had been hooking up the whole time but the show creator decided to take this approach instead.. Shane took a step back after what happened in Vegas, and Ilya chases him for 2 years trying to hook up.

I’m loving your thoughts and perception on everything. I think scott and kip are the perfect contrast to shane and ilya, when we keep yelling at them to talk and communicate, here is another couple who is amazing at communication, but still ends the episode sadly - it really serves to remind us of the stakes they’re all dealing with in different ways and how hard it is to find a balance between your career and your relationship/sexuality; even WITH communication nothing’s guaranteed. Very much looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the rest of the season.

Even if you don't have time to edit and post soon, I highly recommend you watch ep 4 and 5 asap. Not only bc they are incredible, it's kind of mind boggling how every ep is better than the previous, but I trully feel like this show is even more enjoyable if you're loosing your mind along with the rest of us waiting for the next ep. If you see them soom you'll have some days to freak out on social media about it with the rest of us bf the last ep comes out.
