DC: The Sorcerer System Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Journey

"You are up early." Father said as I yawned.

"Yeah... was excited about the journey." I grinned, making him laugh.

"Show me your growth and we will decide." He said, referring to my stats.

Giving him a nod, I willed my stats to be shown.

It was usually a voice and if I wanted, I could make it appear as a screen that only I could see. And since father had authority over the system— he could see it too.

[[Stats]]

{{Name: Lemuel Morningstar}}

{{Title: Son of the Devil}}

{{Tier: 5 (Grade: B)}}

{{Age: 18 Years}}

{{Race: Cambion (Human-Devil Hybrid)}}

{{Class: Sorcerer}}

"Grade B, not bad." He said. "If you had a little more time, you could have reached A or might have even made it into Tier four. But that's very unlikely."

I nodded. Improving the grades was already difficult enough and increasing the tier was an entirely new thing.

Tiers increased under specific conditions that even I didn't know. So, I cannot be sure when a Tier would upgrade. But one of the requirements was to reach Grade A… only then the Tier will increase. If the Grade was below A, even if the condition— which only the system and father knows, was met… I wouldn't be able to upgrade as increasing the Tier was a must.

"Very well, show me your Branches."

Nodding at his command, I opened my branches.

{{Branches: Fire, Air (Proficiency: 90%)}}

{{Ability: Shape Fire, Aerial Travel, Reflect}}

"Good. With that you won't die like a worm." He smiled. "And I hope you like the 'Reflect' ability."

{{Reflect: Reflects energy based attacks.

Note: Cannot reflect energy attacks that equivalent to a nuke.}}

This was too much of a strong ability and a gift from father as it didn't correspond to any of my existing branches.

"Now, you are capable of handling the system on your own." He sighed. "I created the system using all of my powers… I had to recover them for a really long time. So, once I sever my connection— unless and until you wish, even I won't be able to overwrite the system." He chuckled. "Quite the double-edged sword, I know."

That was not a smart move on his behalf. But then again, at times he does things according to his mood and not his wit.

Don't get me wrong, he is THE smartest being in existence after grandfather but he rather does things according to his mood than his intelligence.

And yeah, I have never met my grandfather… as father said he might smite both me and father if he knew of my existence. Father warned me to not try to enter his realm unless and until I was strong and proved my importance and necessity to the world. I had to become an irreplaceable being.

He put on a sad smile. "Forgive me for that, but your grandfather is a being far above me. I am helpless against him."

I nodded. I had heard of him countless times.

"Anyways… You cannot leave for the lower realm in that appearance." He said, pointing at my armour. "Humans have a different sense of fashion and you will have to dress accordingly."

I nodded. I have heard and seen their clothing.

As such, I imagined such clothes and snapped my fingers— In an instant, my dress changed.

In this place, everything was made to function according to my father's wishes as well as mine. But I won't be able to do the same once I leave this place.

"That should do." He said. "And I hope that you remember my teachings."

I nodded.

"Humans can be worse than demons, never forget that. You are my son and so never allow anyone to use you on their bidding." He explained.

During this time, he took me on journeys through his memories and showed me how horrible humans can truly be.

"As my son, you should live free. Never let anyone bind you by their rules, you are above that." He smiled. "You are my son. Now, we should prepare for our departure."

[Metropolis]

Above the skies of Metropolis floated a man in a golden helmet. His powers allowed him to hide his presence from every tracking device and he even managed to hide the massive crack in space.

He stood patiently in front of the crack as it changed colour constantly.

The man was none other than Doctor Fate, an agent of the Lords of Order and one of the strongest sorcerers of the human realm. He doesn't interfere with spatial rifts or portals normally and those are usually taken care of by sorcerers like Zatanna. But this portal was special.

It was not something that he could let a normal sorcerer handle. He feared that they might infuriate the being that was about to make an appearance… And if he was infuriated, humanity would cease to exist right that instant.

"This is quite the warm welcome."

Fate calmed himself as he heard the deep yet soothing voice.

"Lord Lucifer." He greeted as Lucifer walked out of the portal with a boy following behind him.

Fate knew who the boy was and that made him worried. He knew how unpredictable Lucifer was and if his son had even a fraction of Lucifer's powers or unpredictability— it would be troublesome for him.

"The last time I visited, humanity was struggling to survive the Plague of Cyprian. They made sacrifices to me as God didn't help them." He smiled. "Bunch of stereotypical fools… They sacrificed their children to please me."

Fate didn't dare to speak in between. Lucifer's presence alone was sending shivers down his spine and that said a lot as he had faced cosmic entities without fear.

"But I believe you know the reason for my visit."

Fate nodded as he looked at the boy standing behind Lucifer.

"His name is Lemuel, my son." Lucifer frowned a little. "Tell me Kent, would his name draw too much attention?"

Fate didn't have to think about it as Lemuel was not a name that humans used and even if they did, only one in a billion people had that name.

"I am afraid that it is, Lord Lucifer."

Lucifer thought about it for a while and looked at his son. "Then we have no other choice but to use a different name."

Changing one's name was a big deal for humans but Lucifer had the power to rewrite reality itself.

"What do you want your name to be, son?"

Lemuel thought for a while before answering.

"Lucien… I want my name to be Lucien."

Lucifer laughed. "Good name."

Praising his son, he snapped his fingers.

Lemuel's eyes widened as he heard the system's message.

[[Name for Lower Realms Acquired: Lemuel Morningstar >>> Lucien Morningstar.]]

"I will be leaving but I hope you show my son around. You don't have to take care of him, he is capable of doing it himself but as it is his first time in the lower realms, I believe you can guide him?"

Fate nodded at Lucifer's question. "I will."

"Very well. I shall be leaving as well." Lucifer looked at Lucien. "Remember what I told you, Lucien. Never bow down to anyone."

But Lucifer didn't have to worry as Lucien was never going to bow— he was going to make others bow before him.
