Marvel: Chapter 142

There are two types of people in this world, one that acts like they are at the top and ones that are actually at the top.
Kang was the former.
A person who thought to be at the top even though there were countless above him. He was not an idiot, he knew how to approach situations but when you keep on winning… You tend to ignore the minuscule chance of failure.
And as I stared at his vanishing self, I knew exactly that's what happened with him…
And I feel like I am walking the same path.
I am at a height where I cannot afford to fail. If I fall, it will be impossible to recover.
There is no saying that I won't fall but even if I do, I want to leave a mark that will be immortalised.
"M-Markus!"
Staring at the place where Kang once stood, I nodded. "How are you, Crystal?"
The tiny fraction of subconscious that I had… made me feel bad for what I put her through, but when remembering Medusa's take, I decided not to.
Both of us wanted to save our own blood at the cost of others and neither of us could blame the other for our actions. Hate? Maybe. But blame? No.
"I-I-" She fumbled realising that Kang was gone. "What did you do?"
"I fought Kang and I won." I gave her the simplest answer.
She was still astonished, unable to grasp the situation. However it didn't matter now.
"Is the army taken care of?" I asked, making her meekly nod. Her hot bloodedness vanished with Kang.
"Yes, almost. There are a few fleets left but they will be taken care of shortly."
However, there were a few things that I needed to do and one of them happened to be a delivery.
'Magnus.'
'I hear you.' The response came immediately. My telepathy was insanely powerful and could reach an entire new world in a fraction of a second.
'I teleported a few of Kang's equipment and weapons. Make sure they get mass produced for our people and have Essex look at their blueprints.'
'Yes, father.'
With that done, there were only a few things left.
The Inhuman army overwhelmed Kang's soldiers with the weapons provided by Essex. The rest was being taken care of by the TVA as the only issue they had was Kang and with him gone, they could act freely.
However, many of the Inhumans were butchered by Kang and even Black Bolt was nearly killed. Yet the king of Inhumans managed to survive, thanks to me.
Well he was nearly killed because of me as well, but that's besides the point.
"How many Inhumans fell?" I asked which made Crystal tighten her fists.
"Quite a lot…"
"I see." Sighing at the situation, I knew what had to be done.
It was time for me to use a skill that I had never used before mostly because of two reasons.
One, I didn't know how it would affect me and two… I didn't want to be noticed by someone that I shouldn't be.
But now I had ways to be assured that I won't die randomly.
So…
With a calm smile on my face, I decided to mutter.
"Arise!"
…
…
[TVA Headquarters]
When the Inhumans fell, Mobius knew Markus would be bringing them back soon enough. And he was not from the branch to have any authority to forbid Markus from doing so.
"It is still impressive…" He mumbled.
The floating dead bodies, the pieces of flesh, the burnt corpses —all started to heal. The missing parts of the corpses regrew, burnt skin rejuvenated, skeletons were covered by flesh, organs began to reform.
The dead began to awaken.
"Their hurts are pumping!" One of the employees exclaimed but Mobius already knew everything.
He looked at his crew and said, "Get Markus here."
…
…
[[Markus Hanley]]
The power to play with life and death was one of those that belonged to Gods and me casually walking into their domain was kind of moronic. However, sooner or later… I would have had to do it anyway.
"H-How-" Crystal had never witnessed anything even remotely close to this. She saw her people dying, butchered and burnt alive in front of her eyes and now she was witnessing a boy of her age reviving them. So of course, she was shocked.
"Don't think too much about it." I reassured her. "It's just a skill of mine."
She was still shaken but I had more to do than to babysit a royal.
I saw the Guardian's spaceship flying towards us and with my X-ray vision I could see Black Bolt inside of it as well.
All the Inhumans were still under my control and they couldn't harm me even if they wanted to.
'Starlord.' I used my telepathy to contact the leader of the Guardians. 'Take her to safety.'
Quill seemed hesitant but he knew the situation just as well as me. And so he decided to agree. 'Fine.'
But now it was time for me to talk with Mobius.
"We will meet again, my lady." I gave the royal a smile and I knew she wanted to say a lot, however I stopped her with an order.
She was angry, furious even but there was nothing she could do about it.
"Till then, farewell."
With a simple line, I changed the scenery around me. Warping space and time to vanish and reappear in a new place —a place bounded by science and magic that forbade me from using my powers.
"That was an interesting display of power." Mobius' voice was calm but he wasn't too pleased.
"I know." I said. "But sooner or later I would have been required to use it. So, I did it when I thought it was appropriate."
Mobius was sitting in his chair, the tall chair that oozed of authority.
"Take a seat." He said, pointing towards one that was much smaller but right in front of him.
I did as told and casually sat there. None of my powers worked here but TVA were always true to their word and would not harm me unless I attacked them.
"Kang is gone." I said and he nodded.
"That he is." Mobius scribbled on his book, writing something that was not known to me. "You kept your promise."
I nodded and before I could say anything, he continued.
"You used methods that are not accepted by the TVA."
He wasn't wrong because I did use them.
"I did."
"And you even decided to play with life and death."
"I did."
He calmly stared at me.
"And we cannot do anything about it because we gave you our word."
"You did."
He frowned and leaned back on his chair. "You thought of that variable already, didn't you."
The answer to his question was a simple nod. "And as much as you act, I am pretty sure you don't care about those "
Mobius closed his eyes. "But I do care about the possibility of you messing up the timelines worse than Kang."
His words hold truth. My actions were dangerous even for me.
"If that happens, you can always erase my existence."
He nodded. "Fair. Now I believe it is time for your payment." He said. "Ask for anything. As long as it doesn't harm the space-time continuity, I won't mind rewarding you."
And there it was. The thing I was looking for so long.
"You can ask for items, powers or even some hidden knowledge. As long as it doesn't threaten the balance of course."
I didn't need items, I knew where to find them.
I didn't need power, I knew how to achieve it.
But I did need the knowledge, especially about something that I haven't been able to figure out in years.
"There is something that I want to know about. A certain piece of information that I want to know. A question that I want answered."
Mobius stared at me. "Think before you ask because I will only answer one question."
"I know." I said. "And I want this question to be answered."
"Very well then, ask."
And there is was.
"Search for the Holy Black inlaid with Gold." I breathed. "I want that riddle answered."
…
…
[Unknown Space Time]
"He did it." A bone chilling cold surrounded the area where the voice resounded from.
"He did…" This time came a slightly worried voice.
"And with that, I gain the authority to involve myself in his life." The being that said this smiled. But that smile was capable of haunting the sleep of countless men.
That was if they didn't burn and die instantly from her presence.
"Sister… Do not harm him." Warned the other. "I gave him my blessing."
The being that took a keen interest, laughed in glee. "I find him just as interesting as you, my beloved sister. I wouldn't want to harm him either. But it is time for me to visit him… Trust me. It is time things started picking pace."
"Sister… Your appearance brings misery and demise, do remember." The worried being voiced. "For you… are Death."
