DxD: The Plunder System Chapter 57

Chapter 57: Nope, I'm Out.

Whatever could have gone wrong, went wrong. And whatever Rias and Sona wanted to avoid had already happened.

It was a disaster in every way.

"Don't worry." Kento assured, walking towards the girls. "They were the ones to pull their weapons first."

Kento smiled and walked towards the church duo who were trying not to show the pain on their face.

"As servants of God, I believe you won't lie." He said, as the two girls could do nothing other than gritting their teeth.

"Y-Yes." Irina said, while Xenovia still had a frown on her face.

She did not want to believe that they lost fair and square. She was more than certain that it was Kento playing a trick that resulted in their loss.

However, Kento was correct. They were servants of God which meant they were unable to lie.

"Yes… We were the ones to draw our weapons first." She said, accepting the truth.

"Since you were the ones to pull your weapons first… me fighting back was justified." Kento said. "So, it is best to not drag the matter any further, isn't it."

They found it difficult to agree to anything that the godless guy said. However, he wasn't wrong and as such they were left with no choice but to agree.

"See." Kento shrugged. "Nothing to worry about."

Sometimes, the heiresses found Kento to be quite a scary person. His ability to manipulate the situation according to his wish was scary. But since he was on their side, they felt relieved.

"Now." He said. "I believe they are here to discuss something with you." He pointed at the heiresses. "So, I will be taking my leave."

Kento could see the situation becoming troublesome and he was more than happy to let Rias and Sona deal with it.

"Actually, it would be good if you stay." Rias said. "As you are a part of the student council."

Kento could see himself drowning into a lot of troubles if he was to get involved.

So he decided to dodge.

"I don't think that it relates to the current situation." Kento said. "Given how they spoke, I believe their business is with the devils."

He looked at the duo and asked. "Isn't that right?"

This time, there was no hesitation in their reply.

"It is." Xenovia answered. "The current situation is related to the devils. Or should I say… It is because of the devils."

And that was the cue for Kento to make his exit.

"See." He said. "So, it's time for me to dip."

Rias was at a loss for words at Kento's behavior. It was quite a bit unusual for him to act in such a manner but if there one person who knew the reason –it was Kento himself.

'I just want to relax for a while after all these days of grinding.'

And for that, he was more than ready to not have to deal with the church.

Besides, after his words –they were left with no choice but to let him go.

"I hope you the best with this issue." He smiled before taking the turn towards the gate. "And remember that you and Asia are invited for dinner, Saji."

"Oh." The blonde boy finally got a hold of the situation. "Yeah."

Saying this, Kento decided to make the move towards the gate.

However–

Not before whispering into Kiba's ears.

"Don't do anything foolish. This might not just harm you but Rias and everyone else as well."

For a moment, the Prince of Kuoh was surprised that Kento noticed.

"Lower your bloodlust or everyone else will notice as well."

Saying this, Kento left the place alone –for Rias and the gang to deal with the church.

After making his way out of the school gate, it wouldn't be a lie to say that Kento ran towards his house.

He was going to do everything in his power to get at least a few days' worth of rest.

After all, by the end of the week he was going to be training under Susanoo.

Running for a few minutes, Kento reached his house. It was mostly thanks to his high stats or it would not have been possible.

"You are quite late today."

He heard his mother say as he felt his stomach rumbling from hunger.

"Student council work." He sighed. "And can I get something to eat? I am dying."

His mother smiled. "I hope you didn't skip lunch."

"Sadly, I had to." Kento answered honestly. "I was a bit too occupied today."

This horrified his mother. "You are telling me that the last meal you had was breakfast?!"

At seeing Kento nod, she practically ran towards the kitchen. But not before scolding him.

"You should learn to take better care of yourself, son." She said. "You are all I have, don't sacrifice your health for things that are meaningless in the end."

Kento gave his mother a kind smile. "I know, mom. I promise not to skip lunch next time."

He was aware that to a mother, their child was their life. And all they wanted was for their kid to be healthy, happy and successful.

'In a way, fighting the supernaturals and making myself stronger is not something that would make her happy.' He sighed. 'Instead it will make her worried for risking my life. All she wants from me is to get a good job and have a happy and healthy life.'

He wondered if he could give her that.

'Maybe I should do something to make her proud.'

It wasn't like he didn't have ways to do that.

He was a person that knew how the future would turn out to be. At least the human world's future.

He knew places where making investments would give him the biggest turnover and he also knew those things that could provide him with fame and political power.

'Maybe… Maybe, I should try to achieve something as a human…'

[[A/N: Sorry about the length of the chapter but I haven't gotten much sleep because of all the traveling.

He will be dealing with Kokabiel but won't be taking part in the goose chase to find the excalibur pieces.

I am quite tired so I will be resting for a while. Next chapter might be delayed by a few hours.]]
