DxD: The Plunder System Chapter 61

Chapter 61: Secret's Out

Taking inspiration from Susanoo's teachings, he made a heartfelt promise to the god.

"I will keep your teaching in mind, Kami Susanoo."

The god was pleased hearing this, "That was all I wanted to tell you, at least about your personality," He said. "Now, we need to talk about my sister."

This piqued Kento's interest.

"I believe you have heard about Hades' searching for a spear," He paused and shook his head, “Of course you have, you were attacked because of it.”

Kento immediately nodded upon hearing this, and Susanoo sighed.

"I'm not supposed to reveal this to you, but I know you are my disciple and won't betray me… and you are in a way already a part of this mess," Susanoo said with an apologetic smile. "So, don't break that trust by revealing what you know to anyone."

"I wouldn't dare," Kento swore. "You have taught me many things, and I would never backstab you like that."

Susanoo laughed. "Very well then, listen."

'Finally,' Kento thought silently.

"The truth is, the Greek faction is stronger than the Shinto faction. But I believe you must have already figured that out."

Kento had speculated this much after having countless little chats with Inari.

"But even within the Greek faction, not everyone is of absolute strength. But the one that does possess strength wants to obtain the spear to maintain that exact disparity in power, not willing to let anyone get above him."

"And that spear is?" Kento finally asked, aware that cutting off the sentences of elders was looked down upon.

Yet, Susanoo didn't mind and simply continued with his story, "However, in ancient times, our Shinto faction was just as strong as the Greek faction, if not stronger." He said with a bit of sadness. "This was when it was led by our father and mother."

'Izanagi and Izanami.'

Kento knew their story very well.

'The goddess who died giving birth to Kagetsuchi, and the god who created Japan and later gave all his powers to his children.'

"Truth is, the three of us—Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, and I—weren't always this strong," he paused for a second, "We were strong, but the level we are at now is all thanks to our father. After our mother's death and his completion of the creation of Japan, he gave away his powers to us."

Kento listened intently to the story.

"However, that meant the power that could shake the world was now divided into three beings, and even when three worked together, we were never able to exhibit that level of power."

Kento wondered if the reason was the lack of synergy, experience or possibly the three Kami weren’t fully able to comprehend their power.

"So, despite the Shinto faction flourishing under the rule of my sister, the guidance of my brother, and the protection of me, the overall strength was weakened. Yet my father believed it was necessary."

"Where is Lord Izanagi now?" Kento asked, receiving a sigh from Susanoo.

"I do not know. He vanished a few centuries ago, and we haven't been able to contact him since then," the god frowned. "And that brings us to the spear."

Kento nodded as the god continued, "The spear is called Ame-no-Nuboko and was used by my father to create the landmass of Japan. Ame-no-Nuboko is one of the few godly constructs that contains cosmic power and is strong enough to even kill the gods."

Kento was quite surprised by this revelation.

"When my father vanished, he sealed the power of the spear and hid it in a place that no being can access," Susanoo said, looking at Kento. "And that power is exactly why Hades is searching for the spear. He wants to obtain the spear that has the essence of the cosmos so that his power becomes unmatched."

"That's why his reapers attacked me…" Kento mumbled, making the god nod.

"We have word from Hades that the reapers went rogue and they tried to get the spear against his wishes in an attempt to please him,’ Susanoo smiled, aware that Hades didn’t tell them the complete truth.

'That makes sense. Hades wouldn't be stupid enough to sneak into the Shinto faction in such a way to steal the spear,' Kento mused.

"But that is precisely the reason for the search for the Spear, and we might end up confronting Hades sooner or later. That's why you need to get stronger to avoid getting entangled in this mess," Susanoo warned, making Kento nod.

"However, for now, you need to prepare for Amaterasu's test."

This made Kento curious. "May I ask what the test will be about, Kami?"

But to his utter surprise, Susanoo replied with–

"No clue."

Kento was baffled. "Pardon?"

"I said I have no idea."

Hour after the chat with Susanoo, Kento got a call from someone unexpected. But it wasn't your regular phone call—it was a full-on teleportation invitation.

"I'd appreciate a heads up next time, Lord Lucifer," Kento quipped, half-jokingly.

The Crimson Satan flashed a smile as he laid eyes on the guy who had saved his sister's future.

"Sometimes, a heads up takes too much time. However, I do apologize for summoning you out of the blue," Sirzechs said, gesturing for Kento to take a seat.

Kento couldn't help but wonder why Sirzechs had summoned him so abruptly.

"Is everything alright, Lord Sirzechs?" he asked cautiously, hoping it wasn't trouble he was getting himself into.

"For now? Yes," the Satan reassured him. "But the reason I called you here isn't to cause trouble," he added with a smile. "You're my sister's hero—I wouldn't dare put you in harm's way."

Kento nodded, still clueless about the purpose behind the summoning.

"And speaking of why I called you—"

"Ugh! Sirzechs, you're wasting too much time," a voice chimed in, unfamiliar to Kento. In a blink, a yellowish teleportation circle appeared beside them, revealing a handsome face he didn't recognize.

"You could've just told him I wanted to meet him," the newcomer quipped, sounding a tad exasperated.

Kento wondered who the man was, but he just couldn't remember anyone with such a feature.

But as he was going to use his inspection skill, the man gave away his identity.

"My name is Azazel, a longer but simpler relationship with the devils and a shorter but complex relationship with the angels." He said, "Or to make it simple for you, I am a fallen angel."

Kento was amused by the man's way of talking, he found the man quite interesting. But there was no denying that he was strong, extremely so.

However, what he asked next surprised Kento.

"Are you the one that killed Dohnaseek?"

Kento was a little worried when he heard this. Mostly because it was a fallen angel that asked him that and from the fact that he was in the same room as Sirzechs when there was so much tension between the devils and the fallens, it was clear that the fallen was of immense power and authority.

But there was no point in lying, so he answered.

"That was me."

To his surprise, the fallen smiled. "Don't worry, I am not here to take revenge. They went against my orders and paid the price for that."

That made him relax a little, however that next question shook him to the core.

"But the way you killed him surprised me the most," He smiled but it was Sirzechs that asked-

"Since when did you have the ability to manipulate light, Kento?"

And even before he knew it, his felt one of his secrets slipping out.
