2025-02-13 08:25:54 +0000 UTCSoo many years after the fact I just want to add some of my opinion. I think the jarring nature after Marjorie was to shake us out of being sad. I've noticed her song order choice is usually to ebb and flow with the heartbreak I think the chaotic nature of the next song was also an F You to someone "smoothing it over." Making it as not smooth as possible

2024-06-02 04:16:35 +0000 UTCi know im super super late but the closure instrumental is supposed to mimick the uncomfortable feeling of healing without closure!!

2024-01-21 04:56:47 +0000 UTCI HAVE to comment even though it's been a while because Marjorie is my favorite song of hers ever, and to see you already mind-blown by the first line oh man. Yeah I sob for this song. Thank you for your reaction. Folks have probably told you already but it's about her grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, who was an opera singer I think? Taylor put some recordings of Finlay in the backing vocals of Marjorie. Thank you for all your reactions, I've been delighting in them!

2023-04-17 17:36:50 +0000 UTCI know I’m late but why are you listening to the clean version. It’s so much more meaningful and impactful with the cursing.

2022-10-10 16:44:33 +0000 UTCNot really important but I can’t help but wonder where you’re listening to these albums (Folklore and Evermore)? Because the cursing isn’t there😅

2022-03-13 22:34:51 +0000 UTCYou talking about her and Joe and asking if she was ...ready for it without even hearing the reputation album before :D

2021-05-26 02:53:30 +0000 UTCi dont have the tier to send you requests so when i say this i mean it in a you-should-listen-on-your-own-time way*, but i think you’d really like phoebe bridgers’ songwriting based on the lyrics you like of taylor’s :) *obviously if you wanna react to it pleaseeee do it but i’m not trying to overstep <3

2021-04-12 20:13:46 +0000 UTCShe loves christmas! She has a mini christmas album and released a new christmas song in 2019 "Christmas tree farm". Her grandparents used To have a christmas tree farm. You HAVE To listen To it! Its a really good song!

2021-01-23 01:31:28 +0000 UTCSince you love Christmas and Christmas music, you should know that Little Mix has a Christmas song which your face, Leigh-Anne wrote. It's called "One I've been missing", it has a music video from the LM5 tour and a virtual video shoving more personality. You should react to it, both th song and the two music videos!

2021-01-19 07:36:30 +0000 UTCAfter listening to all of Taylor’s albums, you could go back and re-listen to Coney Island. The song is a reflection on all of her past relationships. You’ll be able to find references to her older songs (the cake in The Moment I Knew, the accident in Out of the Woods, etc.)

2021-01-17 20:59:40 +0000 UTCYou probably already know this, because I'm late, but the background singer on cowboy like me is Marcus Mumford of the band Mumford And Sons.

2021-01-16 22:55:52 +0000 UTCI have been excited to relisten with you...and I cried a lot. And had fun. Closure for me is industrial folk. Two genres I love, but I never thought of marrying. I think getting a letter to smooth things over would be jarring. Unsettling. Industrial noise in your melodious world. Love tht song. I like your look, but I think Kanye is pretty over. Rep's This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things is your call out in sound and lyrics. Evermore is an immaculate album. Can't wait to (re)listen to Rep with you next...speaking of her rapper ways, early love with Joe, and the Kanye feud.

2020-12-21 23:23:58 +0000 UTCWhile overall I like folklore better, willow and tolerate it are by far my favourite tswift songs of all time. tolerate it makes me lose my fucking mind. I would be super interested in watching you explore HAIM; they're so good! I'm pretty sure the song dorothea is the partner song to 'tis the damn season-- when put together, the songs tell the story of two kids who grew up together, and maybe they were in puppy love, and then the girl, dorothea, moves to LA. She comes back to spend the holidays with her family, and reconnects with the boy she used to know (the road not taken ie if she had stayed, maybe they'd be together). When she's in LA, the boy wonders if she thinks about him, or if she's still the same person, and wants her to now that she always has a place with him. That's just my two cents though! I actually really like the weird drumming in closure for a couple of reasons. 1. I think the song, though beautiful, might risk sounding a little flat or boring if it wasn't there, though I suppose they could have found a different sound to fill the space, but 2. I think it's supposed to be a little bit offputting, because I think it might be mirroring her emotional state in the song. The lyrics are indicating that someone is trying to "smooth her over" and create a harmony or peace, and Taylor doesn't want that. She's saying screw you, and the drums are loud and distracting and don't quite fit, as if to emphasize her point. Also I find where they fade out in the verses and where they come back to be rather telling :) But if it's not pleasing to your ear then it's not pleasing, you know? You don't have to like it, and it's okay if you don't like it <3 The majority of Bon Iver's music that I'm familiar with, he's using this higher register and I think he sounds absolutely beautiful in both places of his voice! I was shocked when I first heard him sing deeper. If you had the inclination I think he's worth deep diving into as well, but you might need to have the lyrics pulled up because sometimes I personally find him a little bit incomprehensible lol From a songwriting perspective, if you're not familiar with the band Daughter then I think you would enjoy them! I saw them in concert a few years ago and it was almost like a spiritual experience for me. The lyrics are very moody and and emotionally driven, and some of their phrases blow my head out. So sorry if my comments are suuuper long and boring! I try to address things you bring up in the video as I watch, but I understand not everything is said with the intention of being responded to. Lovely reaction, as always! Thank you for all the content <3

2020-12-16 21:44:02 +0000 UTCI like to believe that the chaotic metallic banging is Taylor beating the crap out of a scooter (Braun) (or possibly Big Machine Records-her old label, which Braun now owns) while screaming, "I don't need your 'closure'!!!!" 😏

2020-12-16 01:38:04 +0000 UTCAlso, nemeses is plural for nemesis.

2020-12-16 01:22:25 +0000 UTCSaw you talking about it in the intro so I wanted to remark on it real quick: You might wanna do Miss Americana first and then reputation since the documentary ties in with the lover era and has some information about reputation that might be good to know if you don't know anything about the album's background. There might be some "spoilers" of it in it though, I don't quite remember. But anyway, just a thought and I'm looking forward to seeing both!

2020-12-15 15:41:04 +0000 UTCReading this made me cry (again). She’s so powerful. I’m sorry to hear about your Grandmother Megan ♥️ Even though it’s so so so sad, I think you being able to feel, like really feel to your very core, & have these emotions brought out of you by this song, is one of the best ways you could pay tribute to your grandmother (who I’m sure was absolutely lovely) Thank you so much for the kind words but thank you even more for sharing, Megan ♥️

2020-12-12 18:30:50 +0000 UTCLove love your reviews! Marjorie is about Taylor's maternal grandmother who was an opera singer and a huge inspiration for her to get into music. She also uses some of her grandmothers vocals as background vocals at the end of the track. Finding out this completely CRUSHED me while listening and remembering my late grandmother.
Megan Townshend
2020-12-12 17:42:43 +0000 UTC"William Bowery" (her bf Joe Alwyn) co-wrote champagne problems, coney island and evermore. He also was the pianist on evermore.

2020-12-12 15:51:47 +0000 UTCMarjorie is her maternal grandmother, an opera singer. That's her voice singing in the background. It's track 13. Epiphany was also track 13, eulogizing her paternal grandfather.

2020-12-12 15:42:27 +0000 UTCFYI, HAIM was also nominated for Grammy AOY along with Taylor's folklore.
BratNDaHwz
2020-12-12 14:52:51 +0000 UTCAlso, HAIM is a music group that consists of sisters whose last name is Haim. They opened for Taylor during her 1989 tour. They're really good friends. Este is the name of one of the sisters and Danielle "she was with me, dude" is another.

2020-12-12 11:39:16 +0000 UTCTrack 5 for her albums is always a super emotional/personal track. It wasn't intentional initially but then fans pointed it out after a few albums and now she specifically chooses a song to be a track 5. The specific lyrics come from her country background where things are almost overly described. Also, Folklore came out July 24th, so it's actually only been like 3-4 months.
