2021-03-12 05:30:46 +0000 UTCI love your thorough analysis! I think the main theme in the first season is holding two opposing view points on what Hannibal's motivations are towards Will. He seems to be working towards his best interests, while at the same time acting in a way that seems self-centered. Can both of those be true? I love that you mentioned that Hannibal's tone is always steady and measured. I think the creators want to show us that Hannibal is the source of stability for both the cast and the audience. When everyone else is on an emotional roller coaster, he is a rock. It makes us almost relax into Hannibal's scenes. When he eventually does something violent, we are surprised all over again. It is so incredibly well done. I'm so glad you are giving the show the respect it deserves. I'm not a big fan of horror, in general, but the way this show contrasts horror and emotional vulnerability (which is the real horror to overcome for some of us) is just next level.
