Michael - I'm gonna take you on a weird journey that involves lots of numbers. I heard Tori Kelly at an Andrea Bocelli concert in 2016. She was quite represented on the setlist - including a duet with him of The Prayer, singing partly in Italian. I was blown away, but I didn't catch her name. https://youtu.be/l_VcRKlNnAg I was reminded of her in 2018 because I had just become ARMY and found Jungkook's cover of her Paper Hearts. The recorded version and bits of live became one of my favorite JK covers. https://youtu.be/E0sbYxRVLIQ The Masked Singer aka King of Mask Singer is a Korean show originally, and the concept was exported. (Fun fact: Ryan Reynolds was once a guest performer on the Korean show while doing promo.) Jungkook was a contestant in 2016 when he was 19 (for his 20th Korean birthday). His swan song was a beautiful version of Big Bang's If You that is maddeningly difficult to find in one piece. He was eliminated early on in favor of a more traditional singer who tapped into the audience's emotions and got people dancing. Everyone was shocked that a young idol was so good. Three years later in 2019, the winner of that season, Jung Dong Ha, would sing a rock version of BTS's DNA on the show Immortal Song. I was so happy when BTS met Tori. It was at the 2019 BBMA's, where they won Top Social Artist for the 3rd time, as well as Top Duo/Group (on the stage where they had their first US TV debut in 2017 performing DNA). RM pointed to JK and told her he covered her song and she said she knew, and JK did the cute thing he does when he's overwhelmed and put his hands on his temples. https://youtu.be/nYAj5N5ic7k?t=97 When The Masked Singer debuted in the US, BTS did a promo spot for it, and gave this advice to future contestants based on their experience: the shoots are long and costumes hot and hard to take off, so go to the bathroom first and wear cold packs. I would recommend watching Monster, Peacock, Lion, Fox, Rottweiler, Flamingo, Thingamajig, Butterfly, Turtle, Sun, Crocodile, and Jellyfish. There are so many great performers on this show, but these have some of my favorite performances.

Sun won this season which is totally deserved and can saang like the seahorse. Also worth watching are monster, lion, thingamajig, Rottweiler, flamingo, fox, jellyfish and turtle

And she has some r&b undertone that Michael wont miss for sure. I am so passionate for this woman and I’m so happy he’s checking her music out!!

When I say that you would absolutely fall in love with Tori Kelly, its not a joke...... the woman has some of the best vocals of this generation hands down, up there with Ari & Demi etc, that caliber. BUT ALSO HER PENNNNNNNNN!!! She writes some of the most beautiful songs ugh, she feels like a female Ed Sheeran because she too is “attached at the hip” to her guitar & they have a song together on her first album which is just *chefs kiss* It wont disappoint. She has a gospel album, which I havent heard because I wasnt interested in the moment, but the rest of her albums & songs are singer/songwriter pop & just absolutely beautiful. You won’t regret it. My absolute favorite is her album “Inspired by True Events” fuuuuck. Thats all. Shes so underrated, it’s ridiculous .

This was the best way I could introduce Tori to you and the channel, so my plan worked lol. Now you can’t not check her out. But thank you for adding her to your growing list of album reactions!! Btw, she got booted off the show probably because of song choice and definitely the pairing/grouping of competitors. She chose that’s what i like for her semi-finals and her competitor, the crocodile, went all Dont Wanna Miss A Thing. She couldve easily done something like Halo or Listen by Beyonce as she CASUALLY does on her IG live. Everyone’s pretty angry that she didnt go through the finals, so dont worry, we’re with you. But, you’ll see and understand all this as you get to her season if you’re going to watch the series. Thanks again! Appreciate it.
