HSTMTS 2X3 'Valentine's Day" Reaction

Ok so the first time I watched this episode, I didn't really pay too much attention, I suck at noticing little details when focused, it's easier when distracted strangely enough. So I've been binge watching his reactions to this and Julie and the Phantoms while doing some diamond paintings so I mainly just listen. So as soon as I heard it I had to look up cause I was so confused and was like Plain White T's 1,2,3,4???? I don't know how I didn't notice the first time.

Nini and Ricky’s song at the end of the episode reminds me so much of two of Plain White T’s songs, Rhythm of Love and 1,2,3,4! It took me so long to figure out what it sounded like.

honestly nini knowing gina was thereafter the way the episode started would make trust issues

i mean you would expect a guy to shush someone who a girl who his girlfriend used to be jealous of on valentines day when you were meant to spend time with you girlfriend

gina just needs closure because last season she & ricky got super close and she’s never really had friends before since she moved so much so he’s her first true friend and first crush - those feelings are difficult enough for her to navigate without him having a girlfriend so the fact that she moved away last season with him being single & then she came back & he got back with nini makes things more complicated. the fact that gina knew where ricky lived when he forgot to tell nini that he even moved shows that he and gina do talk a lot about their life problems and whatnot & are genuinely there for each other. obviously her showing up to his place unannounced was awkward but i think the fact that he SHUSHED her before he answered nini’s call is way worse!!!! she came over to talk to her closest friend & someone who relates to the fact that she was missing her mom & instead of ricky just telling nini that his FRIEND gina stopped by he hides it from nini and deliberately shushes gina. i just need ricky and gina to talk bc it’s clear there are some underlying feelings on both sides but instead of clearing the air so they can continue as friends they’re just carrying on with texting like everything’s fine and it’s making it weird face to face

If you haven’t already seen them can you please react to some of Olivia’s singing competitions. She’s been doing them since she was like 7 I think. If you search “Olivia Rodrigo B&GC final” you should see them. Preferably the one from 2013 when she was 10 years old. Or when she performed the song “Titanium” when she was 10. It’s cool to see how her talent evolved from such a young age and I just love your Olivia reactions!

To me, there is a reason why Ricky is more communicative with Gina than Nini (or so it seems lately). He has so many feelings for Nini, so much fear and vulnerability, and that fear itself makes you do irrational things, like withhold information to protect yourself or to protect the relationship because you don't want to add anything else in the mix (especially one that is already tough as a long-distance). You have to keep in mind the kind of character Ricky is which is very wishy-washy and he has commitment and abandonment issues, all of these feelings he is still navigating. The fact he communicates with Gina kinda tells me that she doesn't have the power to hurt him, at least not in that way.... whereas Nini does. Look at the way he doesn't reach out to his mom... it doesn't mean he loves her any less, he is just so scared of being hurt he chooses to do things that show otherwise. Maybe I'm wrong though, we'll see.

Rini isn’t the only pair having commutation issues and it’s showed since episode 1 of this season why do you think everytime there’s a rini emphasis they add rina ?😭 and they’re lack of social skills with each other at least Ricky and Nini handle their situation rina ends with second hand embarrassment or honestly a bit of pity from the audience Look at this from a non skipped view

And also the whole wasn’t Ricky doing that in season 1 😭 yea What did he do exactly ??? Nothing literally when he deque tried it failed before it even Happened and the whole big funny part is if it weren’t for rini gina and Ricky wouldn’t have met or cared or looked in each other direction 😭 so explain ? I get it you love your ship but not getting what you want isn’t a slow burn it’s called it not happening Period? Y’all have a stereotypical mindset of slow burns the whole not being together at first then ending up together but slow burns can be being togetherness first breaking up then getting back together in the end let’s not forget they’re in HIGHSCHOOl😭 this whole ship thing is going lowkey overboard with the slow burn excuse of a JOKE

It was just too much of an embarrassment honestly! They're really making Gina look so desperate without any justification 😭she has so much more to offer than being the footnote in Ricky and Nini's love story.

Y’all emphasize on Rinis communication issues when rina scenes been nothing but awkward and one sided make it actually make sense Gina avoiding Ricky Gina not exactly telling Ricky what he wants her to do etc etc Yall emphasize on nini telling him last minute when Ricky himself said why he understood and would do the same thing Ricky moving houses the difference is they’re in the same state same city and adding to that she could’ve asked a friend how do you know he told her ?? Or texted her if she knows everyone knows 😭🤚🏽

As a rina shipper girl - you got it WRONG 😭it’s not a slow burn Sofia said Gina has new love interests coming up and it’s not Ricky adding to that what makes you think Ricky won’t do the same to Gina like he did to Ricky I don’t think y’all understand how some slow burns work and that’s perfectly ok

Yea I hope so because they just keep dragging it out and I’m genuinely NOT here for it Gina and rickys friendship is adorable don’t get me wrong but I don’t think he’s gonna ever reciprocate or move on from Nini and what makes me more confused is did she not see the way Ricky fought for her in season 1 or was she like blindsided or something ? Seriously I’m surprised she showed up in the sneak peek the embarrassment was INSANEEEEE😩 and right after he sang nini a song girl-

Ricky & Gina shipper here, & they are definitely setting them up for a nice slowburn so I'm enjoying myself. Plus the foreshadowing of Ricky & Nini's break up has been so strong this season that I'm just (not so) patiently waiting for it to happen lol. People seem to forget that Ricky is one the 1st close friends she's ever had, so of course she's going to go to him vent her problems. As he said, they help each other when it comes to that, which I think perfectly parallels Ricky & Nini's communication issues. For example, Ricky not telling Nini he moved, Nini waiting till the last second to say she's going to YAC, but Ricky telling Gina his new address I've seen people get upset at Gina as if Ricky wasn't doing the same thing w/ Nini & Ej last season. The difference here is that Gina isn't trying to break Ricky & Nini up, she just wants her friend to talk to. I also don't think that the feelings are entirely one sided considering neither side got closure in season 1. All this to say I have high hopes for Ricky and Gina lmao

I absolutely agree. I like the friendship that Gina and Ricky have together, I think they're great support systems for each other, but I don't see Ricky returning the same feelings. The last scene for Gina genuinely made me so embarrassed for her, I would never show my face at school the next day in her shoes... 😭 I sense they are going to give Gina her closure by episode 6 honestly, Sofia Wylie mentioned Gina has 'other romantic interests' in this season which makes me think there really won't be a triangle for long.

Overall good episode

All I know is…Ricky and Gina need to talk it out and Gina and nini need to have a conversation. I don’t need Gina and nini hopefully newfound friendship to be ruined to a T because of Ricky and again it’s so so so so ONE SIDED he could’ve at least been genuinely happy to see her and not 😃😬

Someone CAN NOT be that oblivious. Seriously like I get it some people like that stuff but a love triangle goes 3 ways 2 of which were together FIRST and one just go added in the mix because the guy was lonely. I feel bad for Gina I do but it wouldn’t suck for them to get her a SOLO arc her AND ej instead of comedic relief or Live interest make them live to their own character be SINGLE why does everyone need to be in a relationship or feel the need to interrupt someone’s relationship with their feelings 😭 I thought we solved that in season 1???

Honestly I’m really iffy on the Gina Ricky thing it seems so one sided that it just feels awkward to me like Gina going all the way to rickys house had me so confused like what was the actual point of that exactly ?Like I get it Gina feels lonely whether she has feelings or not but like hunny he’s in a relationship there’s not much he can do to fulfill your needs when he can’t even get it right with his own GIRLFRIEND lmao😭 And then the ending gave me such second hand embarrassment I can’t- I hope they resolve the Gina and Ricky situation sooner then later because I feel like it’s clouding my judgement on Ricky

I thought I was the only one that noticed

I love how they centered Ricky and Nini's relationship to be 'out of sync' throughout this episode, but the songs that they made for each other ended up going so well together - showing that they really are still in sync. I thought that was a unique spin.
