Actually just so you know in Texas (where Conan is from) the speed limit on the interstate gets up to 90 just because of how big and far away everything is in Texas. Also, as a bisexual woman my interpretation of Heather is that Conan (who likes both genders but does not want to put a label on his sexuality) is in love with a male friend who is straight so he could never love Conan in the way that Conan wants. It is the ultimate form of unrequited love, Conan wants to be Heather because the friend could never love Conan as he is because of his gender. This happens so often in the LBGTQ community since the majority of people are straight the odds of liking someone who could never reciprocate that is high.

Conan is quoted as saying he doesn't like labels on sexuality or boxing himself in, but yes, Heather is from Conan's perspective. Definitely heartbreaking, and a unique perspective on bisexuality, as sometimes in those relationships, you wonder if the other person would rather the other gender. That's definitely something I've felt and why Heather is so personal to me.

Heather is also a really soft type of fabric! So an alternate meaning is that they were polyester which isn't very soft or comfortable so he wishes he were Heather-something softer that you'd want to hold/cuddle up to!

I know this album has been out for a while but I just started really listening to it back in December, and I haven’t stopped since. I listen to at least one song off this album every day. I wish I had listened to it sooner, but everyone was talking about how emotional it is and I just was not in a place where I wanted to be sad last year. Anyway. I love his voice and his lyricism. We’ve gotten some really amazing debut albums in the last year or so with Conan, Olivia, Rina Sawayama, and Madison Beer. I’m so impressed by all these new artists emerging recently.

I'm pretty sure he wrote all the songs by himself i think with the exception of maybe one but I don't remember. In the interviews for this album he said he wrote the songs on his bedroom by himself. The comparison with olivia comes because they're both big taylor swift and lorde fans so they share similar influences in their music. also they share the same producer Dan Nigro. He's actually not from a rich family and he's talked about having a tough childhood. Lastly something I realized as I was watching this is that his latest song astronomy talks about distance in a relationship so I don't know if it has anything to do with online love but it's a similar concept and it's a full song.

AHHH I've been waiting for you to listen to this and you didn't disappoint 😭 an incredible album tbh, it makes me really excited to see writers like Conan and Olivia being inspired by Taylor and really upping the standard for writing in pop music.
Also for more incredible writing (and sad vibes 🥲) I'd love to see a reaction to Phoebe Bridgers' most recent album "Punisher" it's an incredibly well written, somewhat devastating album that I think you'd love 💖 Phoebe also used the success of her last album to create her own record label to support other indie and LGBT+ artists which I think is incredible for someone so early in her career.
Thanks again for the reaction, can't wait to see what comes next 🤠💖

Also, 'Heather' is based on a real story of his experience. He's unlabeled so you'll notice his songs talk about both genders or using gender neutral pronouns.

Yaaaaay Im so glad you finally listened to it! I cried along with you by the end😅😅😅
Little tidbits, he said in an interview that he ended the songs “Heather” & “The Cut That Always Bleeds” the way he did, idk if you noticed but he doesn’t finish the last line on both songs, he said he did that because when he was writing those songs he was still currently going through that situation so the song couldn’t finish since it was an ongoing thing 🥲 so thats an extra mark of heartbreak there.
Also he didn’t grow up rich or anything, he said he came across the concept of Affluenza and thought it was really interesting and wrote it. He grew up “lower-middle class”.
“Heather” is the second concept you thought of, he liked a friend and the friend liked Heather so he feels like he couldn’t compare to her.
“Fight or Flight” in the bridge who he met was his partners “side person”, whoever they cheated on Conan with, that person didn’t know they were a side piece so they end up both crying together over the same cheating person.
“Wish You Were Sober” he explained its about someone that only wanted him when they were not sober, the only time they wanted to kiss or be sweet to Conan was when drunk or high, so he says he wishes he was sober so he could tell whether it was real or not
I’m so so happy you loved it ❤️ Thank you for reacting!

Olivia and Conan share the same producer, so you'll definitely notice similarities in their music, but they shine in their own songwriting (which is how they got the status of being Taylor's children by the queen herself). People have made comparisons to 'Heather' and 'traitor' for the melodic similarities, 'The Story' and 'hope ur ok' for the similar stories (and choice for album closure). Dan Nigro deserves his flowers for the amazing production behind Kid Krow and Sour. I've never listened to the full album until now, so I'm glad I experienced it alongside you. Olivia mentioned that she and Conan have been writing songs together, so I'm excited about what that will turn into. Conan has a new song "Astronomy" (for his new album) which I think you'll love lyrically but there's another coming soon, I think it's called "People Watching" and it already sounds great from the snippets he's released. Hope you'll react to it as it comes out! Ahh!

Yay! This literally is my favourite album of the last few years. I love how every song is different but you can connect details about the same person he’s speaking of. Someone’s who toxic, drinks too much, likes to hide their relationship. This album has always emotionally devastated me but it’s worth it. I’d check out some live stuff and music videos. The collar he did with Lauv is another favourite.

OMG! You finally dived into Conan Gray, aka Olivia's brother or Taylor's child. I'll be watching this now - thanks for contributing to my insomnia.
