it's also hypocritcal how earlier on in the season she kept saying he should be honest if the long distance feels like too much but here she is, clearly not feeling okay with the relationship but wont be honest, despite him clearly questioning if the song is more than a song.

Your reaction to Lilly saying "let me know if you want a girl who doesn't" KILLED ME. LOL. I mean, girl shoot her shot! Also, to be fair, Nini is passive aggressive too. It's why i dont ship them much, but are bad at being forward. I think at least one person in a relationship needs to lead the conversing and neither do, it's why I ship Gina and Ricky more. Nini hasn't said anything to show she is upset with his clinginess and he couldn't know if she won't speak on it, he clearly knew something was wrong but she wasn't being honest about it.

the songs for this episode weren’t live at all lol there aren’t a lot that weren’t. the only ones live were Home, Beauty and The Beast (Dara’s solo), and The Perfect Gift - off the top of my head.

Honestly, I hadn't noticed. The only 2 I figured weren't live was 1-2-3 and A Dancers Heart mainly due to the dancing because the singing was too perfect to be dancing to at the same time without a shortness of breath. The rest I figured were live.

I’m saying in this situation it’s not only his fault but her too they both at fault he shouldn’t of said what he said to her and she should of been honest about her feelings when the song isn’t just a song. Also, one thing I haven’t seen anyone comment on is the fact that most of these songs aren’t sung live anymore. I thought part of the reason this show was so special was the fact most of the singing was done live… I think there’s still only a couple this season (Home by Ashlyn for example) but majority isn’t and I don’t think it’s a good change.

The song was never meant to be shown in the first place - for all you and I know Nina could have written something else for the show. She's allowed to show things to other people before Ricky - he is not the center of her life! Ricky has been projecting his personal issues onto this relationship since the beginning of this season, it makes no sense as to why the burden of starting that conversation be on Nina.

I disagree with saying Ricky was more at fault the song was supposed to be a duet thats what ms jean and nini dedicated to leave Ricky out it for whatever reason and turns the song about about how she feelings about the relationship Cleary which is nothing wrong with writting how you feel but Ricky was supported of the song but I also dont think he realized what the song was about also the fact she told her best friend to the tell him in the first place which made it more obv what the song was about just for her to turn around and say the song is just a song which clearly it wasnt just a song she needs to talk to him and actually have a conversation on how she feels as well

Everyone's hating on Ricky, but he does have a point too. They need to have a conversation and like genuinely talk about everything. Otherwise, Nini was really selfish in thinking they should sing the song and risk losing, when winning means everything to most of these students :/

Eh I know Nini was wrong for not showing the song to Ricky first, and not everyone is going to agree with me, but Ricky was more at fault in this episode. He went behind Nini's back to ask Miss Jen to put her into the show, after she expressed she didn't want to do it, and then gets upset for doing it the way she wanted to (a song, by the way, he pressured her into finishing every minute of the day). Not only that, but he pretended to be supportive about it just to humiliate her in front of her friends and the enemy? His mistakes keep adding up and he can't put the blame on his personal issues, not if he's not going to open up to anyone about it. Aside from that, it's strangely weird how close Nini's storyline is with Olivia. She started off with posting her original songs on instagram, one of which caught the eye of one of the disney execs and that's how she got to write All I Want for the show, and this song led her to music label - the rest is history in the making as we know!

Honestly, I feel like the Rose song was more about her experience at YAC. She couldn't express herself in the way she could at East High. While the teachers there were strict she wanted to break free. Kinda like the line about the beast hiding in the dark while she wanted to reach for the sun. She wanted something YAC couldn't offer her. It also explains why she couldn't write in the perspective of the person hiding, cause that just isn't her. Once she switched the pov it was easier due to understanding what the rose felt like. I think Ricky took it the wrong way and Lilly made it worse. I think they just lack a ton of communication which is making them so uncompilable but I don't think she regrets dating him honestly. She actually looked hurt when he told her he doesn't want her to feel confined. It just doesn't seem like she meant that song to be about him. I love the Gina/EJ relationship. I do think EJ likes her at least but I don't think she is fully over Ricky to even think about liking someone else. Lilly is pure evil. I mean she knew Gina was their best dancer and seeing her in a dress then wanting a dance off? Not a coincidence. She knows exactly what she's doing. She did see Gina in their play and knows Gina can dance a lot better then the kids in North High. Zach is a child. I hope Miss Jenn doesn't fall for him.

It was a weaker episode for me to. Not a bad one, but not where a lot of the episodes have been this season. But I feel like this episode was meant to create drama between all of the main relationships going into the final 5 episodes and finally have the two schools have a direct conflict. So I think it did what it wanted to accomplish. As for the whole Nini/Ricky situation, I appreciated you talking about the root of their issues since there’s been some debate about who is causing the issues.

I think next ep we are going to get some answers with Ricky and Nini as the description mentions visits an old haunt and for the promo pic for the next ep Nini and Ricky are at a place which looks like a tree house . So this could symbolise a special place that’s close to their hearts . Nini is crying and Ricky is on the verge too in this pic . So it’s either a break up /break or they let out their feelings to each other and have a heart to heart which maybe why Nini is emotional . I hope they can work through it and move forward just like how relationships do have rough patches ❤️

i think ricky and nini will break up for good most likely in the next ep, like u said its not just a small problem that can be fixed, at this point they just are not compatible with each other anymore. i agree with the ej/gina thing, i see it as a friendship. ej could have feelings for gina but i think its very one sided because gina has shown clearly that she sees him as a friend and her feelings for ricky are v strong. i think ej/gina is going to actually progress the rina plotline because they suddenly bring in this dyanmic right as ricky and nini are breaking apart and there is still many loose ends with ricky and gina that havent been addressed yet. i honestly think north high is going to win the menkies because they are proving to be a lot better than east high, if they didnt win i would be shocked.

i’m glad you weren’t reading the subtitles during the beginning of the mob song because it literally says “Howie:” when the north high beast starts singing lol even though lily is pure evil i’m glad she vocalized everything that i, and a lot of other people familiar with theater, were thinking after last episode: 1. adding a song to the show, or altering the text in anyway for that matter, is a fineable offense and would most likely if not definitely get them disqualified from the competition. 2. the song clearly isn’t about the rose & the beast and doesn’t fit the show - like ricky said (though his approach was terrible lol) i think ej definitely does have some underlying feelings for gina just from matt cornett’s face acting like him looking kinda disappointed when gina is like “just co-anchors, back to normal” or when she said that he was “more weird” after he swooped in with the fake boyfriend act but i agree that i think they’re gonna keep building the friendship up before potentially going romantic because gina clearly doesn’t have feelings for ej at the moment i don’t see ricky and nini lasting past next episode because by making her new instagram and introducing herself as “nina” she’s shedding her nickname & the part of her identity that ricky has had control over since they were in kindergarten... also ricky needs some therapy so i hope he focuses on himself when they inevitably break up
