DxD: The Plunder System Chapter 73

Chapter 73: Marcellus' Quest (1/4)

<<Temporary Soul Bind Activated>>

<<Host's body is too damaged>>

<<Using system authority to regenerate damaged tissues>>

"Ugh!"

Kento felt possibly the sharpest, most intense, and most long-lasting pain he had ever felt.

He lay without any way to get his body to move; he could feel his body had bloated up. He could feel the salt water inside his mouth and stomach.

And he could feel the countless torn tissues that were regrowing constantly.

He was lying on the sea, most likely the seashore.

As he started to try and take calming breaths, he realized that his body had been eaten by fishes and other aquatic creatures. He was a living corpse that was being healed.

After a few minutes, he felt he was finally able to move his jaw.

"I am back, huh?" He muttered, pain haunting him as he spoke. "Not that I can say I wanted to be back."

Unfortunately, he was back.

At least for a while.

At least until he completed his quest.

<<Quest: Enact your revenge on those who shot you!>>

With a deep breath, Kento tried getting up –pain echoing through every inch of his body as he did that.

He looked at his hand that was healing itself at an insane rate.

The rotten flesh had soon started to regain its natural color and texture, returning to its original appearance.

"I cannot say that I fancy seeing such a thing," Kento sighed at his own fate, seeing his body rot and then fixing itself.

He sat by the seashore for a while, waiting for the system to heal him fully.

<<Due to the world level being of a lower than the former world, only a select few abilities and items will be made available>>

<<Available Skills: Inspect, Kama's Path, Flight, Teleportation, Horo-Kanu, Size Scouting, Immortality, X-Ray Vision>>

<<Available Items: Self Adjusting Coat, Cloak of Invisibility>>

Kento chuckled hard seeing what was available.

"This is ridiculous," He was amused to see so many things when a single one of those abilities was enough to take down a hundred, maybe more.

<<Host's body has been fully healed.>>

Hearing this, Kento finally decided to get up.

"Let's first see where I am," He hummed looking for some sort of sign or poster to help him locate his current location.

Unfortunately there was nothing around him, all but water, sand and pebbles.

'Looks like it won't be that easy,' He smiled, 'Or it wouldn't have been that easy.'

With that, he flew up.

{Flight}

He shot straight to the sky, looking for any clue to make out where he was. And for a very long distance, there was nothing. So, he started flying a bit forward.

[Cloak of Invisibility]

Not wanting to draw unnecessary eyes, despite it being night, he used the cloak.

He flew for a few meters before finally coming in front of a sign.

`*Mediterranean Sea: 250 meters ahead*`

He was baffled at how far he was from where he was supposed to be.

'I am miles away…'

Without his money, it was almost impossible for him to go back. But thankfully, he had his skills.

'Will teleport work?'

He was curious, after all, the skills worked for places he had already been to. And in this body, he had traveled a lot.

'By that logic it should work.' He guessed, 'Let's try this.'

The place that he imagined was very specific, a dark alleyway that no one went through.

To be precise, it was the very dark alleyway that he avoided on the day he was killed.

And with that memory, he used his skill.

{Teleport}

As a light flickered around the area, Kento as Elijah, was brought to a place filled with memories.

It was as dark and as unvisited as he remembered.

Not to mention, quite nasty with a stench that nearly made him throw up.

'This place has never been cleaned, now has it?'

But that was barely any of his concern as the clothes he was wearing were just as messy as the place he stood at.

And that left him with no choice but to use the Coat.

[Self Adjusting Coat]

Making the coat long enough to reach his knees, he knew he had a quest to complete.

"Adam Winston… Let's see how you farce against a being with superpowers."

But just as he was ready to physically obliterate Adam, he got a certain new quest.

<<Bonus Quest Alert!>>

<<Quest: Break Adam Winston Mentally, Physically and Emotionally!

Sleep with his wife in front of him!>>

<<Rewards: [Aim Lock (S)]>>

<<[Aim Lock (S)]: Allows host to plunder one desired skill from any being lower than Peak Satan Class or ability of any Sacred Gear within the range of Middle Class Longinus or Lower.>>

Kento stood baffled hearing this quest alert.

And it made him unintentionally mutter, "Marcellus… You are no God. You are the Devil."

Adam Winston, a name that she despised.

Luna knew from the day she met him that he was nothing more than a power-hungry savage. But even after millions of requests to her father and providing the old man with countless proofs, she was unable to convince him not to proceed with the marriage.

She was a scapegoat.

But her father made a tremendous miscalculation. He underestimated Adam's greed and ambition.

And now he paid the price for that.

'So, it's finally all over,' She lay on the bed, losing her will that was once stronger than any.

Her father made the will that gave his real estate empire to her while making Adam the heir to his business chains.

That was a mistake as that was all Adam was waiting for.

'He killed him,' Luna felt defeated, 'He killed my father.'

She was lost, she felt tears in her eyes but they didn't fall.

Her father died in a car crash a week after making his will.

And she knew who the culprit was, she knew it very well. But she had no proof that she could use against the man.

She was helpless.

She was trapped in a four by four room by her husband, all in order to keep her silent and not go out in the media. She was a prisoner and she knew that she might lose her life in his game.

Worst of all, she could do nothing about it, absolutely nothing.

"I even got Eli killed," She felt the guilt clenching her heart. Adam revealed to her how he killed Elijah and threw him in the ocean, to never be discovered again.

She was well aware that Elijah didn't have to die if she didn't get him involved. But now, she could only blame herself.

"I am sorry… father," She bit her lips, pained from the losses she had suffered, "I am sorry Elijah."

She closed her eyes, lying on the bed with no hope or aspirations.

She couldn't take her life, if she did –she would be presenting Adam with everything that he wanted on a silver platter.

And neither could she make her will because Adam had her locked up.

All that she could do was lay on the bed and count the passing days.

*BOOM!*

As she was trying to find peace and sleep a little, she was startled by the explosion that she heard.

It was loud, as if a grenade exploded inside the mansion.

She jumped off her bed, almost certain and horrified that it was Adam's doing.

It was him that was after her life.

She tried to figure out what they were doing, if there was an escape from this place.

She knew that it was a pointless search, but she didn't want Adam to succeed at any cost.

*Bangggg!*

She heard gunshots being fired almost from all directions, it was a full-on assault and she was in the middle of it all.

"Fire!" She heard,"Kill that monster!"

As she walked out of her room and stood near the staircase, she saw fire mixed the stench of blood and gunpowder.

But just as she was about to make a run –she heard a very familiar voice.

"It's been a while," She knew this voice very well, "Lady Winters."

Because the voice belonged to a certain somebody that she, in a way, adored.

"Or considering the situation," He smiled, "I should call you Luna."

Yeah, she knew.

It was him.

It could only be him who would be romantic in a situation such as this.

In a situation where he stood gripping the neck of a dead man while staring at her with a charming smile.

It was him.

Elijah.
