HP: The Salazar's Heir Chapter 33

Chapter 33: Doggie

“Move from there, Hermione!” Harry yelled, feeling a gaze burning his back.

“Duck!” Ron shouted as a massive wooden cart flew past them, barely an inch above the trio.

“Oh, no…” Hermione’s eyes widened, her body felt cold as the trio’s gaze finally landed on the beast.

Its massive eyes glared at the trio, snarling at their presence.

“It's going to eat us, isn't it?” Ron asked, almost giving up hope.

“If we don't move, it won't do anything,” Harry said, trying to believe his own words but failing.

The beast, a massive three-headed dog that looked straight out of hell, extended its clawed paws – moving closer to the trio.

“No, dodge!” Hermione yelled, pulling Harry and Ron’s heads down – saving them from having their heads clawed out.

“How did it wake up?!” Ron yelled, “How??”

“Doesn't matter!” Harry said, “We have to move!”

The three-headed beast was chained which proved to be their only form of safety.

“He can't reach here!” Ron said.

“But how do we get to that door?” If they couldn't reach the trap door, it was all pointless. The long wait and the sneaking around – nothing would matter if they failed now. There was also a high chance that a professor might get involved if they dilly dally around the place.

But that was when Harry thought of something genius yet stupid.

“I will distract it,” he said, horrifying his friends, “You two make your way inside.”

“How will you get inside?” Hermione asked, looking at Harry like he was an idiot.

As they discussed, the dog's snarl grew louder – its mouth dripping saliva and teeth flared out.

“It's possible for two people to dodge and slip through, but we cannot do that all together!” He said, realizing that the more they talked – the more time they wasted. “I will get in there, but you two go first.”

"This plan seems rather daft, doesn't it?" Hermione said, mocking yet warning the boy. “You will have your head blown out.”

But Harry? He had made up his mind.

“I promise,” he assured, “I will get in there, in time.”

None of them believed him, but they knew that there was no other option.

It was either following Harry’s plan or running out of the place, which, if they did, they would regret.

“Promise that you will make it inside in time,” Hermione asked, “Promise us.”

Harry nodded, “I will. Now, go to the side and wait for my signal.”

All the while the trio discussed, the dog waited, staring at them, wondering about their next course of action.

The ginger and the frizzy-haired remained at the corner, while the spectacled boy walked towards the dog – hiding his fear.

“T-There, there, puppy.” Harry called the dog, moving towards its left, drawing the beast’s attention.

The dog did not jump or attack the boy; instead, it followed him with its eyes, giving hope that it wasn’t trying to be aggressive.

But it was all a hoax, as it felt Harry get a bit closer to it – it leapt.

“Run!” Harry yelled, as he jumped back, all while the Cerberus gave out a thunderous roar – lunging at Harry.

Hermione and Ron ran towards the trap door, instantly lifting it open. Hermione jumped in, but Ron looked at Harry, “Don't get hurt!”

With that, even Ron jumped inside.

But Harry.

“I am in trouble, aren’t I?”

Harry had no idea how he was going to make it inside the trap door. He lied when he said he knew how to get inside. He wanted Ron and Hermione to make it, as for him, he knew he had to think of another way.

But as he saw the Cerberus struggling to reach him – he realized something.

‘If I…’ His eyes glittered.

He took out his robe and looked at the jittering beast.

‘I hope this works…’ He gritted his teeth and threw his robe at the dog, covering and confusing the beast. “Now!”

The moment the robe landed on the dog’s face, his vision was disturbed, and that gave Harry the moment to rush towards the trap door.

Sliding his knees under the dog, and making his way towards the door at high speed, he felt his heart pounding.

‘Finally!’

But he celebrated too quickly, as while the dog’s vision was disrupted, it did not stop his movements.

“No!”

His heart dropped as he saw the massive paw of the beast flying to his face all while his body slid towards it – impossible at that speed and distance to dodge or defend.

He accepted his fate.

However…

Fate had different plans.

“Protego Totalum!”

“Are you all intellectually challenged?”

Sebastian would have never guessed that Harry and his friends would be foolish enough to jump in front of a damned Cerberus.

Leaving Flitwick’s office and descending, he heard yells and barks around a specific room on the third floor.

And what did he find when he explored it?

‘An idiot trying to get himself killed.’

He frowned, staring at the beast.

‘That’s at least a peak XXX or near XXXX rated beast.’ Sebastian knew how dangerous beasts were, and he was more than certain that the boy was definitely not capable of facing the beast.

“Move, what are you waiting for!” He yelled, and that is when Harry came back to his senses, crawling away from the big dog.

The beast’s eyes were finally free, revealing Harry and Sebastian. It tried to attack but felt angry as its chains prevented it from reaching them.

“Get out!” Sebastian yelled, “It is chained, and the chain looks capable enough to hold it.”

But Harry didn’t listen; if anything – he tried walking closer.

“What are you doing?” Sebastian found the boy ridiculous, ‘Has he lost it?’

“I-I have to go there…” Harry pointed at the opened trap door, “Ron and Hermione are inside there!”

Sebastian groaned, realizing that it was another trouble that he had jumped into. ‘Why are these three always causing trouble?’

He couldn’t figure out, just like how he couldn’t figure out how they got inside the trapdoor when the massive dog was guarding it.

‘It is definitely kept there to guard that door.’ Sebastian understood, “Did they fall in there, or did you come here deliberately?”

Harry did not want to answer; there was still the possibility that Sebastian was working with Snape.

But, the boy did save him, and he could not lie because of that.

“We came here.” Harry said, “And we have to go through that.”

“For what?” Sebastian asked, maintaining distance from the chaotic dog.

“Because…” Harry was uneasy, “Because the Philosopher’s Stone is kept inside of there.”

“Pardon?” Sebastian was amused.

“A stone that makes you immortal and turns metal into gold.” Harry said, “But we do not have time; we have to get there before someone comes!”

This reveal baffled Sebastian, but he knew that even if it was all bollocks, Harry believed in that. And his friends did too; that was why they were inside the door.

‘This is annoying, but there is no other choice.’ Sebastian gritted his teeth, ‘Will spells work on it?’

He definitely couldn’t harm the dog. It was a guard dog, and he knew that it was kept there by the orders of Dumbledore.

‘That means the headmaster knows about this stone and is hiding it.’ He frowned, ‘How did these three learn about the stone?’

He had too many questions that he didn’t have an answer for.

“Never mind, let’s try this!” He looked at Harry, “I need a full explanation, after this!”

Harry nodded, wondering what the heir of Slytherin was planning to do.

Taking out his wand for better and concentrated spellcasting, he muttered out a certain spell.

“Dornröschen!”

A golden ray shot at the beast, hitting it straight in its eyes.

“Work…” Sebastian muttered, aware that quite a lot of beasts were immune to charms and spells.

But thankfully.

The dog wasn’t.

“I-It is falling asleep!” Harry gasped, seeing the dog’s body falling down and its eyes slowly closing shut.

‘Thank Solomon…’ Sebastian sighed, aware that he might have needed to hurt the beast if the spell didn't work.

“Let's go!” Harry said, pointing at the opened trapdoor.

“You better explain everything to me once we are inside,” Sebastian said, aware that he was possibly getting himself into a mess or a trap, ‘Maybe both.’

“I will!” Saying this, Harry rushed towards the trapdoor and jumped inside.

‘Do I have to follow him?’ Sebastian wondered for a second, but he knew that he was already involved now. ‘If I leave and they die, it will be my fault…’

“I hope this isn’t a mistake.”

With that, he jumped inside too – fully aware that what he was doing was most certainly stupid.

And he wasn’t wrong either?

Why?

Because the dog was merely a guard, the real trouble brewed inside that trapdoor.

[[A/N: As you might have noticed, I took quite the creative freedom to change the order of the events. The troll was supposed to be after all this, but I decided to move it a bit earlier.

Mostly to make the flow better in the story.

Cheers.]]
