Chapter 30: The End of Everything
[Present Time — Inside Hogwarts]
{Aurora Sinistra}
“We are under attack!”
This is not good.
This is horrific!
“Snape.” I had to call the man. He was lost in his thoughts, his mind cold from the death of Dumbledore. “We have to move. The whole school is under attack, the students' lives are in danger.”
Draco was bound by spell and was made to sleep with magic. He could not move or cause any more chaos.
“I— We…” Snape’s mind was a mess. He was exhausted from the fight and Dumbledore’s death had taken a toll on him.
I could barely look around me. My body was shaking at the scene, but there was nothing we could do.
Dumbledore was dead. We were at a disadvantage, the ministry was also under attack and there were reports of prison breaks on a large scale.
“We have to reach the students.”
With the heaviest of hearts, we had to leave the body of Dumbledore in the broken room. The students were our responsibility, we could not let them be harmed in this chaos.
Helping the fellow Slytherin up, I tried making my way out of the room.
Tried.
That's the word.
“Now, I don't think you can go out that easily.”
The wand in my hand nearly slipped out hearing the voice.
Oh, I knew who it was.
“Tricks work only once on me, bitch.”
“Bellatrix…”
Not just her. She now had multiple Death Eaters with her. Underlings of her, which meant we were at a major disadvantage.
It was difficult on its own to take on Bellatrix, and now having to face her underlings posed a problem when Snape was too worn out to fight and Draco was tied back.
Darn it all!
“I-It's alright.” Snape said, removing my arm from his shoulder, “You handle her, I will handle her minions.”
“Oh~ You think that two is enough for all of my men?”
I should have asked him to not fight, he was too weak after facing so many men but I couldn't.
I couldn't take on all of them, I needed all the help that I could get.
“Just…” I calmed my heart, “Just don't put yourself at harm.”
My fingers clenched over the wand harder than ever, “We got this.”
It was two against twenty, difficult but not impossible odds.
…
…
[Moments Later — Inside the Hogwarts Dormitory]
{Harry James Potter}
I cannot give up now!
“Run Harry! Run!”
Why? Why were they here!
“Don't stop!” Ron yelled, his face covered with smoke and dirt, “Don't look back!”
“I c-cannot run for long!” Hermione had gotten injured, sprained her ankle while running. And even with Ron helping her move, it was still difficult for her.
“We have to reach professor Dumbledore!” Yes, that's all we could do. “He will save us!”
I hated running away, I hated being scared. But my friends’ lives were in danger, and I can never allow them to be harmed.
We had weird creatures behind us, the evil men hurting and hunting the students —no we had to run.
They had already gotten a lot of others, Daphne, Theodore, Neville and more.
We cannot be captured!
“Expelliarmus!”
The teachings of the dueling class were helpful, and the random people that came against us could be dealt with magic.
But if we stop, if we get captured, my magic will not help.
“Bombarda!”
Ron blasted off the door in the middle, giving us enough space to make an escape.
And we were still being chased.
“Fast!” Ron yelled, “Incendio!”
He did his best to handle the men behind us, while I worked against the ones in front of us.
However…
Something horrifying happened.
‘Run.’
A voice in my head, a voice I hadn't heard in a long time echoed inside me. My legs quivered, nearly making me trip and fall on the ground.
“Harry, look ahead!” Ron yelled.
“Protego!”
And if not for Hermione covering for me, the spell that came flying would have struck me.
“Expelliarmus!”
Barely regaining my stance, I continued running —and yet the voice continued in my ear.
‘Come to me. Running won't save you.’
No… he was back in my mind.
He was gone for the longest time. He was not in my head since I defeated Quirrell.
Then why!
‘It is your fate! Come to me! Come to the open fields! Submit yourself to me!’
“Run through the hallway!”
We have to reach professor Dumbledore's office!
“We cannot go through the fields!”
I wanted to save the others, I wanted to help them against the men that were hurting and capturing the students.
But if we do not reach the headmaster and bring him with us, no one will be safe.
‘Running is futile. Submit yourself, accept my cause and you and your friends will be pardoned.’
No, professor Dumbledore told not to believe a word that he says!
“We will be there soon, Harry!”
We skipped past the field and ran towards the hallways, barely winning against the wand wielders that came our way.
‘You are on the wrong path.’
No, I would never listen to him! I would never follow him!
“The headmaster will help us!” Ron yelled. All of us hoped that the headmaster would be strong enough to defeat all the men.
The other professors weren't. They were barely able to hold on against the men that attacked them.
Madame Pomfrey was injured, and professor Flitwick and professor McGonagall were the only ones who were able to hold their own against those… dirty men.
“We are almost there!”
‘You are on the wrong path.’
Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!
“Expelliarmus!”
Why? Why was he after me?
Why did he hurt my parents?
What did I do to him?
No! Not anymore! I will never allow him to harm my friends like he harmed my parents!
I will protect them!
And we were already near the Headmaster's office—
“H-Harry…”
No.
“I told you.”
Why?
Why was he here?
“You were on the wrong path.”
H-He was there.
Alone.
The man that killed my parents.
The man that tortured my mind.
“We meet again, Harry Potter.”
Voldemort…
…
…
[Top of the Hogwarts Tower]
Smell of blood and death, cries of pain and sorrow, and the sight of pure chaos.
I wonder when I started loving the beauty of chaos.
Was it when I came here?
Was it when I got my powers?
Was it when I plotted my revenge in the past?
No, I believe I always adored chaos.
I was always someone unfit for society, unfit to live a modest life.
So, when my father was killed —my mother humiliated enough that she took her life. That's when I began to show my true self.
Years of hiding my identity, years of hiding my truth was thrown out of the window.
And the best part? The world never truly judged me for it, they never truly blamed me for it.
To them, I had lost my mind. I was consumed by vengeance.
But it was not my fault.
It was the pain I suffered. It was the injustice done to me and my family. To the world I was just an avenger, a hero who took revenge for his fallen family.
The law did not matter. Even the freedom fighters were deemed criminals.
Law to me was the most worthless thing.
And truly… look at the law.
It could not do a thing to protect my family when they needed it the most. Neither could it do a thing to save my enemies when I went after them.
The law is weak, it has always been.
Take this world for example. No one cares about the law, the ones that did care about it were the first to die.
Moreover, the ones that fell at the very start of everything was the ministry —the ones responsible for maintaining law and order in this wizarding world.
But now they are gone. Fudge was long dead, the ministry was being attacked by Voldemort's followers, and most of the major ministers had been murdered.
West was still alive, but for how long can he go on?
The prisons of the highest security were breached, all prisoners were free and the veil surrounding the world of magic and without was falling.
Even Lucius was free. I don't know where he went, it didn't matter, but he was free.
It's hard to believe what you can do if you have a little idea of what happens in the future and the power to manipulate it.
It's funny how I did not even use most of my powers to bring about this chaos.
Runic magic was something I used only once.
Mind arts was what I used the most, subtly obviously. Using it to manipulate others or feed them ideas that they believe were their own.
In just this little time, when not even one semester was completed for poor Harry Potter, the world was coming to an end.
With Britain being the first to fall, the rest was to fall soon too.
And me?
I was the catalyst, the one to move the pieces but never to fight in the front lines.
Even now, all I had to do was watch.
The moves that were to be made had been long since made, and the only thing left to do was to spectate.
And that's all I had been doing for a while now.
Dumbledore's death was a little quicker, but Draco did what I wanted of him. Snape was too weak to make a move, and the rest were stuck with the Death Eaters.
The only regret I have is being unable to protect Tonks.
Her death definitely stirred things a bit, and it was a price I could have gone without paying.
Alas, what's happened has happened.
And now, I was to witness the fight that occurred in front of me.
The roof had been destroyed with the continuous magical battles, and so the scene ahead of me —the fight between the villain and the hero was taking place straight from my vision.
If necessary, I could listen to them. But I didn't.
Instead, I watched the event unfolding like watching a silent film.
Harry was stuck, Ron and Hermione were already injured by the Death Eaters.
This…
This was the end game.
The final fight, and the end of everything will be decided by it.
And so I took a seat over the roof, leaning my head against the concrete and enjoying the scene unfolding.
“Attacking me won’t solve anything, you know?”
All while having a wand pointed right at my head.
“You… I should have known long ago.”
“Crying over spilled milk does no good, now does it?”
“Killing you here would at least avenge the fallen.”
This made me laugh, “Would it? It would, wouldn't it?”
I could feel the wand trembling behind me. The courage to fire leaving the person.
“Then why haven't you killed me, Aurora?”
The woman shook behind me, I could see in the reflection of the glass against me that she had suffered quite the damage.
Her clothes were tattered, there was a burn mark running from her chest all the way past her chest and blood staining her entire face.
“Because we have already lost.”
She put her wand down, her strength leaving her body and her face falling to a look of hopelessness.
“Why?” She asked.
“Why not?” And I replied.
She stared at me, while I watched Harry barely dodging the attacks thrown by Voldemort.
“You—” She sighed, aware that nothing she did would ever work. She was weak and she was tired.
So, she sat next to me. No expression on her face, just watching the fight between Harry and Voldemort.
“What about after this?” She asked, “What about when we lose?”
“My goal is only to make the hero lose. Rest is for this world to figure out.”
“Hero?” She was confused, “Oh.”
Yet when she saw Harry, she understood.
“Why though?”
“We have our reasons.” I said.
“Only the devil spreads as much chaos as you did.”
“And what if I say I am the agent of the Devil?”
She stared at me. “Then I would believe you.”
I didn't use my mind arts, but still I knew that she wasn't lying.
“Will this world die off?” She asked, curious and saddened.
“Maybe. But that is not my goal. If you all can protect, good for you and if you cannot, that is your tragedy.”
“Where will you go?” She asked, “I refuse to believe that you will submit to Voldemort. Given all you have done, you are not loyal to anyone but yourself.”
I believe I said the same about Voldemort, and now the same was being said about me. Not too bad though.
Because it was the truth.
“From where I came from and then to a new place, to spread just as much chaos as this.” I gave her a smile, “Maybe more.”
“You are evil.”
I am, aren’t I?
“But thank you.” She said, surprising me a little.
“For?”
“For reminding me not to fall for the sweet words of handsome men, and to not trust people easily.”
This made me laugh.
“And I thank you. With you around, I enjoyed this place a lot more.”
She showed a smile, one that was mocking herself. “I don't know if I should be glad or sad about that.”
“Be glad.” She should be. “Even without your involvement, the end would have been the same —maybe worse. But because I like you, you are sitting here, watching the chaos and with a chance to make a better and smarter future.”
Just not at the moment, at the moment I had to do something.
“YOU DARE USE THAT SPELL, POTTER!”
Voldy was fuming as the apparitions of Harry's parents —James and Lily came out to protect their child.
And in a way, given Harry's luck as the hero —he might even survive this.
Unfortunately for him, I don't plan on letting that happen.
“Watch closely, Aurora.” I said, “This is the last thing I will be doing before I am gone.”
She already knew what was to happen, and so she focused on the scene ahead
The apparitions surrounding Harry and protecting him started to quiver, started to show an expression of fear as my fingers moved in the air.
“When there is love, there is also hatred. And when there is light, there is darkness as well.”
The apparitions made of love and the magic of purity were surrounded by dark and evil aura.
My Dark Arts, that I was finally using freely and without limit.
It fed on the light of his parents’ love, diminishing their power and making them go translucent.
“You are truly a horrible person.” Aurora leaned onto my shoulder, tired and losing all hope. “You are evil.”
That… I was.
“N-No!” Harry cried out. “D-Don't leave me! Mother!” He cried, “Father!”
The parents too, showed him an expression of sadness and hurt while staring towards me —aware that it was my doing, furious at me.
And if not for me possessing absolute control over Dark Arts, they certainly would have cursed me.
But they couldn't.
And in an instant, with one attack from Voldemort —the apparitions vanished, allowing him to land a clean hit on Harry.
“And so it ends.” I sighed out, tired and successful.
“Avada Kadabra!”
The most powerful spell used by every dark wizard and the one spell that guaranteed certain kill —fell straight at Harry.
And the boy had no parents to protect him, because of which, the moment the spell landed on him —his pupils vanished and his body went cold.
“And so you have won.” Aurora closed her eyes. “In the end, the only winner is you.”
True.
I knew what she meant.
She had won against Bellatrix, no she had killed Bellatrix and Snape too perished in that fight.
Draco has practically gone insane, there was not a single strong Death Eater that Voldemort had left.
Both sides suffered losses.
Voldemort had won, but at what cost?
At the cost of every single Death Eater that could fight for him.
Both sides ultimately had lost.
The side of heroes lost every hero. And the side of evil was weakened enough that one external force attacking them would end their cause.
It was over.
This story was over, with the winner of the battle being Voldemort and the true victor of this war being me.
“Will you leave?”
She asked one final time.
And all I could answer with was —”Yes, I will.”
As I felt the space and time splitting behind me. The cold and grim aura that I felt at the very start.
The void of the devil, the place I started from.
It was calling to me.
And I? I had to go there.
Patting her head like an elder patted their child, I decided to bid her farewell.
“Good Luck, Aurora.” She had survived. Maybe that was her victory, living through the chaos and having a chance to improve the world. “As much as the world needs it, you need it more.”
She had to find her purpose now.
I stole it from her, and now she had to either steal someone else's purpose —or create her own.
She laughed. “You darned scoundrel. Go.” She said, staring at me with a smile, an angry and helpless smile. “Never come back here, never show your face to me again.”
It wasn't a joke. Everything she said, every single word —was from the bottom of her heart.
“If you ever come back, if I ever see your face again —I will kill you. And that… that is a promise.”
With a laugh and a look of amusement, I decided to promise her.
“Very well, I won't come back.” I stood up, “And if I do. You are free to try your best to kill me.”
And with that I walked forward, towards the split in the space.
“Aurora, I wish you the best.”
That's the last thing I said before stepping into the portal, and her face was the last thing I saw before the world went dark again —the same familiar darkness.
Leaving the world of theirs to its fate, damaging it beyond belief.
Because the moment I left, I got visions.
Visions of great wars that broke out in the magical world for absolute power and control. The Dark Lords of every continent came and waged war —fighting against the ones that protected everyone.
And the biggest cost of the war?
Forever ruining the veil that separated the world of magic and without, starting wars that involved both worlds.
Starting the greatest war the world had ever seen.
And the catalyst for it all? The one to cause chaos at such a scale was me.
The one that ruined the Potterverse.
Forever.
