DxD: The Sorcery System Chapter 52

Chapter 52: Student Council (½)

[Late Morning — Kuoh Playground, Kuoh Academy]

“Are you sure it’s a good idea to wait here?”

The boy's voice was curious as he looked up at me, wondering why we were standing barely under the shade while the sun blazed overhead.

“Patience,” I assured him. “Old habits die hard.”

The blonde-haired boy remained skeptical, reluctant to keep standing in the same spot without any guarantee of success.

“We’ve been here for about fifteen minutes now,” he remarked, pointing at the massive clock above us. “Maybe they know we’re here.”

“Just wait,” I said, turning my focus back to the scene ahead.

Volleyball practice was underway, with most of the players being girls, while two boys acted as the referee and ball boy.

But that wasn’t our concern.

It was the room straight ahead of them.

The girls' changing room.

“I told you,” I muttered as I finally spotted the ones we had been waiting for.

“Old habits die hard.”

Matsuda and Motohama—the two notorious members of the infamous perverted trio.

“You’ve got to be kidding me…” Saji, the boy assigned to deal with the school’s perverts alongside me, groaned as he spotted the two trying to sneak into the girls’ changing room.

“We should catch them,” he said, gearing up to pounce on the perverts and grab them by their collars.

“Nope.” But I couldn’t allow that.

“W-What?”

Just as he was about to rush toward them, I quickly grabbed him.

“What exactly are you going to say after catching them?”

He looked confused by my question.

“Of course, I’ll take them to the council and have them punished!” he exclaimed, eager to play the hero.

I could see him imagining himself delivering justice. Sona had told me this was his thing—being a hero.

“On what grounds?”

That threw him off completely.

“For—” And then it dawned on him. “Oh.”

“There’s no crime yet, so there’s no criminal. You can’t punish someone who isn’t a criminal.”

“That…” He didn’t seem very happy with that logic. It felt unethical to let someone commit a crime.

“Don’t overthink it, Saji,” I reassured him. “Sometimes you have to let the rot show before you can uproot the whole tree.”

I’d had enough of these perverts.

Being undisciplined is one thing. Making mistakes, breaking rules—those are things I don’t necessarily care about.

Students are not allowed to use phones during class hours now, and even when I see people using them, I don’t snitch.

Why?

Because it doesn’t harm anyone else—just the person doing it.

But these perverts? They’re harming others.

Sexual harassment is not something to be tolerated, and I’ll make sure they pay for it.

“I… I see.” Saji clenched his fists, unable to argue. Sona had given me full authority to handle these issues, and Saji was mostly just a helper with no real power in this situation.

So, he had to listen to me.

And right now, I was thankful Issei wasn’t here.

I knew his mental state wasn’t the best at the moment—the incident with the Fallen had shaken him pretty badly, and he hadn’t even been coming to school regularly.

But I couldn’t meddle in everything. This was something he had to resolve on his own. If he needed help, he could ask, and I would be there. But unless he asked, I wasn’t going to go out of my way.

I’ve learned from all these events that prying into issues that don’t involve you only causes more trouble for everyone.

But back to this issue—I was glad Issei was at home, and these two idiots were doing this on their own.

As unethical as it felt, we had to wait and let them commit the crime.

Saji bit his lip, unable to defy me, and watched the boys intently.

And guess what?

“Eekkkkk!”

It only took two minutes.

“Perverts!”

The two fools managed to sneak into the girls’ changing room through a low-hanging window, but they miscalculated—someone was already in there.

They had no time to hide.

“Let’s go,” I said, slowly moving toward the scene while turning off my phone.

Yeah, I had been recording everything.

Of course, it didn’t capture any of the girls, but it did record the boys sneaking into the room. If the girls hadn’t caught them, I was going to use the footage as evidence.

But that won’t be necessary now—they’ve been caught red-handed.

And I promise, I’m not letting them go unpunished.

Even if the punishment is harsh.

[An Hour Later — Student Council Room]

{Sona Sitri}

This was troublesome.

“We promise not to do this again, President!” the bald one pleaded, bowing so low his head nearly touched the floor.

“I-It will never happen again!” echoed the pervert with glasses.

The only one missing was the third member of their infamous trio, who had been skipping school far too often.

“This isn’t the first time, is it?” I sighed. “And it’s not the first time I’ve heard you say that, either.”

This was a tough situation.

“President!” the two boys shouted in unison, “please don’t tell our parents! We swear we won’t do this ever again.”

But they always did.

This was the seventh time they’d been caught.

And I needed to punish them.

But how?

Surprisingly, it was Reo who stepped forward.

“I know you only assigned me to catch these two, but if I may, can I suggest a punishment?” he asked, staring at the boys with clear disgust.

“Please do,” I said, sighing. I couldn’t come up with anything suitable.

I couldn’t punish them too harshly, but letting them off with a slap on the wrist wasn’t an option either.

“T-That’s the President’s job!” The two boys protested, already upset about being caught by Reo.

For some reason, even Saji seemed uncomfortable, shifting awkwardly as he looked at Reo.

“If you two keep yelling, I’ll have to call your parents,” I warned.

That shut them up immediately, their faces paling.

But little did I know, what I was considering—informing their parents—was mild compared to what Reo had in mind.

“Then I suggest…” he took a deep breath, “a suspension.”

The suggestion landed like a bomb.

“What!” Motohama shrieked.

“You’re just trying to scare us, right?!” Matsuda stammered in panic.

Even I was taken aback by the suggestion.

Suspending someone? We’d never done that.

Some students were detained after class to clean up, but no one had ever been suspended.

“Isn’t that a bit extreme?” Tsubaki asked as she entered the room, carrying three cups of tea. “There’s never been a case of suspension at this academy.”

The two boys nodded vigorously. “Don’t listen to him, President. Suspension would only tarnish the school’s reputation.”

But Reo wasn’t listening to them.

“I think not suspending someone for harassing students paints the school in an even worse light,” he countered. “And there’s a first time for everything, President. Let this be a lesson—a warning to anyone else who even thinks of doing something similar.”

“President!” the two boys continued to beg.

I had to explain, “Reo, I have a lot of authority, but suspending a student isn’t within my power. That decision lies with the principal, and we’d need substantial evidence to even consider it. The principal never suspends anyone.”

But Reo wasn’t deterred. In fact, he seemed even more determined.

“Well,” he frowned and pulled out his phone, unlocking it and handing it to me. “This should be enough evidence.”

Everyone stared at me and the phone with curiosity. Even I was curious about what he was showing me.

But as I looked at the screen, my expression darkened.

“Evidence,” he repeated. “This should be more than enough.”

“What are you showing to the President?” Motohama shouted, irritating me.

“Quiet!” I snapped, unable to hide my disgust.

What I saw on the screen wasn’t just enough to get them suspended—it could get them expelled.

Pictures of them planting mini cameras in the girls’ locker room, videos of them sneaking into the girls’ restroom, stealing panties from the sports changing room, and more.

There wasn’t a single girl in the images. Reo had made sure not to compromise any girl’s integrity or reputation.

But the evidence was damning.

Especially the camera planting.

“Tsubaki,” I turned to my vice-president, barely able to contain my anger. “Please go check the girls’ locker room for any cameras. Immediately.”

The two boys turned ghostly white.

“Pardon?” Even Tsubaki was shocked.

“Yes,” my voice grew grim, “these two scumbags planted cameras in the girls’ changing rooms.”

“What?” Even Saji, who had been uneasy, looked disgusted as he glared at the two boys.

“I’ll do it right away!” Tsubaki snarled at the boys before rushing out.

Everyone knew how serious this was.

“I saw them doing even more questionable things, but I couldn’t record it all,” Reo sighed. “I’ve been following them for the past few days, watching them commit so many unspeakable acts that would make anyone spit on them. But recording those things would’ve been a crime in itself.”

I…

Just what have these two done?

“Saji,” I finally made up my mind.

No, this was the right choice.

“Please call the principal,” I said firmly. “He needs to hear about this.”

“President!”

It didn’t matter how much they begged or cried anymore.

They were going to be punished.

I had turned a blind eye to their actions for far too long.

But not anymore.

Enough was enough.
