Starting something new! Been having this idea in mind for quite some time and finally wanted to start working on it.
I want to merge a lot of different methods and techniques that I have gathered over the years and see if I can create a long single take animation following a 2D character through a 3D environment.
My idea is to start off with filmed footage that I track and that will then act as the driver for the animation. None of the actual footage will be seen in the end but by converting it into a 3D environment I can use the cameras movement and have my character be driven by the motion of Jana's movement (My girlfriend helped me out with some acting for this.)
This way I can have a 2D character move within a dimensional set and interact with objects etc.
In this first video I show you the base footage and go over how I track it in Cinema 4D.
I shot it in our garage, which is not very well lit, but its an open space with a lot of tracking reference points. The footage turned out a bit noisy, which might affect the tracking result but I think in the end I managed to get a decent track out of it.
Excited to share more progress on this. You will have to have a bit of imagination of what this eventually will turn into as currently its just Jana interacting with invisible objects in a garage haha!
