Flipping that bend from pain into rage, hatred, and an utter and complete lack of compassion and perspective is exactly where you get some of the most compelling victims in comic books, because they're the type of villain that you can't just slap on the "evil psycho" label and move on. They're the ones you feel bad about having to stop.
